Why did Nichijou bomb? I mean, shit like Azumanga Daioh, Lucky

Why did Nichijou bomb?

I mean, shit like Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star and K-ON! sold like hotcakes.

It's not fucking fair
>>
>>137656876
It was way more comedy-focused than Azumanga, LS and K-ON

The comedy was also pretty niche and hit-and-miss

The BDs were absurdly expensive and they were only sold 2 episodes per disk.

Nichibros also sold pretty poorly but the comedy was top tier.

There aren't that many good actual comedies anyway. Most of them are labeled as comedy but at most they make me smile, it's more of a feel good instead of a HAHA kind of comedy.

The crucial difference between those shows and Nichijou is the presence of male characters.

I'm 100% sure that the punchline to all of those jokes that you say "don't have a punchline" are either lost in translation, lost in cultural differences, deadpan humor that you didn't catch, or just jokes that went over your head for one reason or another.

Why do people think it wasn't popular? It didn't sell a lot of copies, but it was really popular. It was even rebroadcasted in NHK-E and shit. The OP has like a million parodies too. It's very well known, just not very profitable.

It would have sold like hotcakes if they weren't acting like fucking Jews. Nobody is going to pay $80 USD for two episodes with no BD content worth giving a shit about.

The way they fractured the entire OST across over a dozen discs also makes them huge cunts.

>>

And Nichijou is to blame how?
>>
>>137660330
Actually no, you're right. Nichijou is actually guilty because thanks to that Itou was demoted, basically cutting Kadokawa's ties with KyoAni.
>>
>>137660330
It isn't, it was the confluence of the two. I wasn't the one claiming Nichijou lead to Chuu2.
>>
Look at kyoanis style before and after nichijou
They MADE their studio from then on.
For those who don't know why, its because kyoani isn't technically a studio but a college. They have endless slaves. They used nichijou as a 'training' project. They focused on the visuals and animation and found what they liked and didn't like.
And it still gets discussed to this day. It was a resounding success. /a/ doesn't understand it, /a/ doesn't need to. Kyoani will continue to put out their brand and gather students like no one else can, and pay about the same as other studios for better shows with better work.
They aren't always going to have a Free! or two, but still they are going strong and its nichijou that lead them down this path.
>>
>>137660494
KyoAni just most likely intended to adapt their novels before the Nichijou incident. Still, Itou being demoted because of Nichijou is probably why they've been mostly doing the own IPs, though. I bet that if Nichijou hadn't flopped, and Chuu2 hadn't been the success it was, they'd probably still be doing both in-house LNs and Kadokawa content. Glad to see now that Kodansha is still working with them.
>>
>>137657102
Saturn was a bit off, that means something.
>>
>>137660568
>pay about the same as other studios for better shows with better work
If you mean budget-wise, yeah, probably. If you mean paying their employees, hell no. KyoAni pays by the hour when other studios pay by the cut, and KyoAni animators have said that the average day at the studio is pretty relaxed work-wise.

Last episode of monster musume is pure forced animation.

They took mundane scenes from the manga and filled them up with explosions and overreactions because I guess they had budget to waste. Ended up looking like shit though, and they had this weird camera pan thing they tried in the first half of the episode that looked strikingly bad.
>>
>>137661770
I deny it. Making movement fluid isn't forced animation, it's good animation. Having a lot of movement isn't forced animation, it's making good use of a medium. Forced animation is when you add unnatural movement to something just for the sake of having more movement and looking like you are oh so good at animating. See for example Bahi.
>>
>>137661770
No, it was just too good and this meme is only a thing because it is a KyoAni show.

It's impressive how you people even try to make good things look bad just to justify your point or make up your lack of arguments.

>>
>>137666434
The typical Don Bluth argument doesn't apply here. Although there are things in Nichijou that don't have to be animated as well as they are, they aren't things that are necessarily drawing the viewers' attention away from the important parts of the scene. If we take your argument to it's natural conclusion, we should really not be making anime at all because nothing "has" to be animated.
>>
>>137656876
>Why did Nichijou bomb?
Nichijou didn't bomb. It just didn't sell well because the BD's cost almost a thousand bucks, and even ronery otaku can't raise that kind of scratch for a cartoon series.

But I'm sure you knew that already OP. You're just trying to bait a Nichijou thread into existence by using Guaranteed Replies.

No.

The only time the term "forced animation" is ever an acceptable description is when it comes to Motion Comics, as in, when someone takes Watchmen and fucks around with the characters and items in the panels with Flash so that they move a little bit for no reason and then charge a special price for it.
