KyoAni's boondoggle comes from their listening to fan feedback/suggestions on what they wanted out of a show, and for some reason they thought Phantom World fit their descriptions since they wanted a fanservicey harem-y/action show. I guess it shows KyoAni has valid proof to never listen to fans again. It is also possible, imo, that a bunch of trolls infiltrated KyoAni's fan response and essentially trolled KyoAni into being convinced this would be a hit.

I'm just wondering whether how Konosuba could be possibly even better than it is right now. Sure, there are a lot of DEEN quality moments in the show, but it actually sort of complements the overall silly nature of the show. I'm also not sure why there seem to be many who has a distaste for Konosuba. I bet over half of the people who just call it generic power fantasy haremshit haven't even watched the first episode and purely shitpost because their favorite show isn't doing as well.

DEEN makes meme of the season, KyoAni makes eternal classics.

Past this season everyone will forget about such thing as KonoSuba existed, meanwhile KyoAni shows become better with time as good wine, so they dont rush for immidiate gains, but polish their works to deliver them in exceptional quality so that would not be ashamed of later generations watching it.

Every KyoAni "flop" (except Munto) became a classic that ages well and gains recognition and appraisal with time.

Nichijou, Tamako Market, even KnK - which in hindsight is very worth watching.

If KyoAni wanted fast gainst, they`d do Amagi again which was just like KonoSuba - otaku oriented easy humor with low budget.
