I know the anime is generally considered shit but I had really high hopes for it after Franky's fight against Senor Pink, that was really really well made but then it continued being shit wtf.

Gear 4th doesn't look as powerful as it should in the anime, they are not making it look as fast and overwhelming as it should, the first kong gun looked as if Doflamingo was able to contain the hit for a moment when in the manga he got punched hard and fast.

Bellamy could have a connection to Sanji. They both mention they were from North Blue in the same chapter, and Bellamy later reveals that his hometown was prosperous. The Vinsmoke family could have been from Notice. They never met each other in the story so far, so there's no knowing if one would recognize the other. It seems unlikely, but it's an interesting thought.

Ceaser is essentially a member of the extended crew already, or the fleet if you will. His title right now is basically Chopper's bitch and I feel like it's meant to be a step towards redemption for him. You can say he's being held hostage, but I think his intellect (He's a scientist, his old allies are beat) and natural curiosity will keep him around. He's probably a full on ally at some point, like almost everyone Luffy beats up. Being a numbered chapter crew member is clearly never in his future though.

Different episodes and different scenes within an episode even are all animated by different people. Then the animation director will look at it and this person changes every episode too. Toei is a big company. So your base talent changes all the time, and then the talent that's reviewing the base talent's work is changing too. Obviously skill varies and not all the cuts or all the episodes can be animated or directed by only the most skilled.

The amount of budget that goes into an episode changes too as different teams will include different people who have been with companies for longer and thus earned more pay or negotiated their own pay as part of a freelance job but there is never a case of "running out of budget." Okay, rarely a case. There's just a long schedule, where everyone gets paid, but talent varies greatly. It might seem logical to save your best talent for only the coolest episodes, but in my years of selling my soul to Toei it seems more like they just try to spread it out evenly so the workload is fair probably. It's really hit or miss but lines up nicely sometimes. Luffy's gear 4 transformation looked pretty sweet I think. Toei will never run out of money, anon. Don't worry about that. They're the biggest name in the business and they know how to make money and anime.

I don't mind the quality so much as the pacing and the amount of time spent recapping, after the recap even, which is after the long ass opening, which is admittedly actually animated nicely and sounds cool, but still. I believe the should go back to making lots of filler so they can do a better adaptation when they have more to work with. That detective Luffy arc was legitimately entertaining. It's not that it's not a faithful adaptation; they're pretty good about that, even directly copying lots of panels. It's that they obviously care more about making a series to air every week to drive business, than about making an anime that's really good.

Whenever i rewatch this scene, i get the feeling that maybe akainu isn't so bad that he's set up to be. Remember that most pirates in the OP-universe aren't as friendly and civil as the straw hats. Most pirates are probably more like blackbeard, you know, the raping, killing and thieving kind.

The marines, how brutal they might be, are the only thing standing between the ruthless pirates who are basically anarchists, and civilians. Whitebeard started a war, knowing that countless lives would be lost that day, in order to save ONE of his crewmates.Akainu may be ruthless and fanatical, but imagine living in a world that's like somalia, albeit on a global scale.

What coby did was to destroy morale amongst his fellow marines, it was an all-out war, he should be prepared to witness bloodshed on the battlefield. As an officer, you don't want your soldiers getting disrupted by some kid screaming and ruining morale for your soldiers. Akainu probably understood the threat coby was to his own men and decided to act quickly, sure killing a fellow soldier might be excessive, but it was in the heat of the moment.
