The Sternritter's second invasion (where it really starts to drag), is 111 chapters and counting, longer than any arc in One Piece, Fairy Tail, or Dragonball. And it's on it's way to being longer than HxH's Chimera Ant arc's 132 chapters.

But it wasn't like any other Mayuri fight. Mayuri fights were always boring because he never lost. Even when Uryu had the upper hand he still didn't "lose", because he escaped with his life.

But against Pernida, not only did he rarely ever have the upper hand, and even though he defeated the opponent, he still lost something precious to him. It was "humanizing" for one of the least human-like characters in Bleach.

Neither. The whole point of his training with Nimaiya was to point out that Ichigo never started with an Asauchi. Hismask then becomes his new asauchi.
