Anime has never looked as good as it does now. And it will only get better-looking in the future.

I'll admit, I fell out of anime in the past few years, stupid reason. I wouldn't know how good or bad anime has become. Has it really changed since 2012?

Not him but Dissaperance of Haruhi Suzumiya looks better and has a better overall visual atmosphere than any of the 70/80s movies.

Got it.
Certainly a huge step forward from the early 2000s, but it's hard to say when compared to the 80s style.

Lol, no. Here's a basic 80s OVA and it looks superior.
I'd use a movie example like Angel's Egg or Akira but I don't want to embarrass you.

I remember one time long ago, I wanted to fap, so I searched some hentai to have a quick fun. I ended watching several OVA because it was an old hentai (early 90's probably) that had some nice quality shading and good artstyle.

haha, no.

Depends pretty significantly on budget/studio.
Big-budget films are more gorgeous than ever from a visual effects standpoint, sure, although we still haven't gotten "better" than the stunning levels of detail and expressiveness featured in late 80s/early 90s big-budget flicks.
CG...can be good or bad, depending on how it's done. It's been done pretty shitty so far. I'm waiting for squeenix-tier pipelines/processes to work their way down to the cheaper animation studios so we stop getting eyeraped by shit-tier CG.
So why does Japan hate shading now?

I dunno, bro.
