He's a joke character and he tends to be paired with other joke characters, but still I think it's a very subjective question. I personally like fights that rely on using tricks, so for me Usopp's fights are among the best. I find Zoro's fights the most boring, since he ussually just headbutts against the opponent with his plot armor.

The cool thing about vs Perona is that a big emphasis was put on what she was doing and how she was doing. Honestly I thought it was cool because I felt I was with Usopp in trying to figure her powers out. People quickly gloss over Thriller Bark and only mention Oars or Kuma and skim over other standout moments like Usopp fighting Perona and Robin getting so close to defeating Moria in one blow.

It was not really dragged out as a whole. It is only this long because Oda gave so much focus on the future SH fleet members. The whole coloseum part, all of them fighting together while Luffy was on his way to Doffy, some of them getting their own fights and them helping Luffy at the end while he had to regain his haki was part of their introduction.

So I'd been avoiding those movies since they have no real ties to the One Piece plot at all but I was so bored from all these breaks that I ended up watching Strong World and Film Z. They weren't totally awful but I do have one question based off of Film Z.

Everyone constantly talks about how Weeble cut off Z's arm but I don't know how anyone got this from the dialogue. I watched the dub instead of the sub so maybe it was a mistranslation but I felt it was very clearly implied to be an older Warlord. Like it couldn't be Mihawk (unless he has a Devil Fruit ability we don't know about), but I don't see why it wouldn't be Doflamingo or Kuma or something like that.

Like I think people assume the Warlords at the beginning of the series have all held their titles for a lot longer than they actually have. We saw Ace was offered the position just a year and a half before the series started so it's not like they weren't appointing people recently.

I think the idea that he only began planning his vendetta shortly before the movie is ridiculous. He would have had to build up his forces and strength first and see the pirate he hated getting away with his crimes. Weeble was a brand new Warlord at the time of that movie, there's no way it triggered Z into action that quickly.

That said, I realize since it's non-canon, the Warlord wasn't mentioned because it actually never happened but for closure's sake, I think it would make most sense to be Doflamingo, given the clues.

I think Dragon needs to win because 1) as you said, he doesn't need to lose during his first on-screen battle, and 2) I still think Blackbeard needs to be humiliated a bit. I agree his crew is likely going to be the final non-WG enemy the SHs fight but I would love for Blackbeard to be reminded that there are still real monsters out in the world--or as Loflumingo articulated it, "even the Revolutionaries have formidable members". Dragon HAS to be strong to hold the position that he has, and to hold it for so long. I still think Dragon has to be in the top five CoC users in the world, purely for the somewhat-alluded to passive effect of such insane charisma and inspiring loyalty.

I love this series, but objectively, I still think its crazy how popular it is. Its main character is a fucking rubber pirate, who is basically dumb as bricks unless the plot needs him to be otherwise. Becuse it was about his pride. And Usopp did dirty shit against Luffy too, pretending to spew blood. He knew Luffy. He knew which tricks would work against Luffy and which wouldn't. You see him lying and trying Usopp Speeell at first then gets in to gear. Not to mention he never gave Luffy the chance to attack after the first one. That shit wouldn't have worked against his other opponents.

Usopp deserves a bit more credit in the manga IMO. Sucks that Oda decreed that he always has to be the weakest Straw Hat.

It's nice when he gets really subtle acknowledgements; like I think various crew members have noted that Usopp has more faith in Luffy than anyone else in the crew. Sanji and Zoro were legitimately impressed with his sniping during Enies Lobby. Zoro/Sanji have expressed faith in his ability to survive anything. He got two good inspirational sequences in Enies lobby (telling Robin to "believe in Luffy", and convincing Luffy to get back up). etc.

Like the only legit badass moment he has gotten in the NW outside of beating a jobber New Fishman Pirate crewmember was his Haki shot in Dressrosa- which thank god everyone actually saw and was astounded by. Beating Sugar the first time was typical clutch Usopp shit; him accidentally building a myth around himself is funny but his whole fucking character arc is supposed to be HIM MAKING HIS TALL TALES REAL, not him accidentally making MORE TALL TALES.

Usopp's fights have always been my favorite in the series. Usopp is the designated weakest of the crew, and that's why I think he's actually the bravest of the crew. He's not some guy made of rubber or a swordsman who literally cuts mountains. He's just a guy with a slingshot from a small island in the weakest sea. He's adventuring in a sea jam packed with the strongest maniacs in the world. He always faces impossible odds.

Usopp is also the character most resistant to power level creep. I'm of the opinion that all Shonen manga fights get less interesting because the MC has to get more and more bullshit OP powers to the point where the can literally destroy the world, and I just don't think this is all that interesting. Granted, Luffy's fights aren't about wits but more about his sheer willpower, but at least he can reasonably challenge the arc villain. With Usopp the odds are so stacked against him that it seems insane to even try. But he does anyway, and when he succeeds its all the more rewarding for it.
