Anime is okay but it removes certain parts and in turn, it makes the pacing feel more rushed and the jokes more rapid-fire in their delivery. Won't really hurt to check out the manga.

Manga is mildly amusing, the anime was tons of fun because of how over the top they went on everything, and some of what has to be the best voice acting ever heard in anime.

Mari did a lot more in the 2nd arc too. It's probably because it was much more centered on their rivalry where as the first arc was focused on the boys and their plans, the girls were sort of secondary there.
