I don't know if he's doing anything now, but all I've read from Nishiki Soraku was his Samurai Papa manga, and I really loved it. Great art and really funny. The daughter is too damn cute while the women are too damn perfect. It sucks he didn't continue it.

Not just that. Creators in Japan really don't get royalties unless they're big and can renegotiate their contracts. They get nothing from anime, for example, and most of the toy and product royalties don't exist unless you've got a huge series. If you try to leave, basically every other company will blacklist you because you clearly won't stick with a company if you don't succeed and are thus disloyal.

Kagami no Kuni. I really thought it was cute how he was falling in love with the non-heroine, and it's hilarious to me that the author realized he was NTR-ing his main heroine and killed the series solely because "muh red string can't allow this Dave."
