What are you being a lazy shit and not working on?

Such is the scanlation life
>>
>working on too many series
>decide to try and finish a few to clear up time
>immediately find other things that look fun and want to translate them
How do I stop, /a/?
>>
>>134978753
I can empathize. I'm currently sitting on two volumes that each took a month of solid work to finish but can't bring myself to release them since I hate pretty much everyone in its fanbase. Sometimes I feel bad for withholding stuff but then I see threads for the series and regret how much I've already released.

Why can't people just not be assholes?
>>
Here's what I'm working on.
>>
>>134978536
i've never worked on scanlation before but there are two series I think I might be interested in helping out with translation:

Archimedes Great War in Young Magazine

Banjyou no Polaris in Monthly Shonen Magazine

How would you suggest I start as I don't want to do the photoshop work for fuck's sake.

>>
>>134983711
>Banjyou no Polaris in Monthly Shonen Magazine
Doesn't that have fucking huge chapters? The first one was like 100 pages if I recall correctly.
>>
>>134981051
The same goes for me, it's depressing.
I have more than 70 titles in my backlog by now. ;_;
>>
Is it true that scanlation groups have a treasure trove of delicious manga raws that they hoard? Would I get access to them if I theoretically became a translator?
>>
>>134983833
>oh look at me, i'm worried about the integrity of /a/. Look at me everyone i'm helping and better than the rest of you faggots
>>
>>134983944
nah, I just checked. First episode 68 pages, subsequent chapters smaller.

I think there's something else with "Polaris" in the title in some other magazine you might be thinking of.
>>
>>134984018
all the raws you need are pretty much on nyaa m8

i got terrabytes of raws, both classic and new
>>
>>134984166
Yeah but some of them are really poor quality or not even seeded at all

Oh well I don't care enough to get into the translation stuff anyway

Delinquent Manga

>What do you wish got picked up?
"Daisaiyuuki Bokuhi Seiden - The Story of a Very Handsome Man"
It's technically a manhua that got translated to Japaneses then published in Jump Plus app.
The story is a re-imagining of Journey to the West but art is gorgeous & the dialogue is random & hilarious
>>
>>134978753
>a terrible following
Is it a popular series? I can break your neck and take over if you wish.
>>
>>134984018
Not much, but what they do, they have in better quality than what you can find (if you can at all) in public raws (otherwise they would use public raws, duh).
>>
>>134984018
Not so much since the arrests, but most groups that buy their raws will have stuff sitting around that they don't use, like if you get a whole magazine and only scan one series.

Not really scanlation but does anyone know of people or groups that do commissioned fansubs of anime?

I tried Underwater but they seem to be dead

The name of the series you want might be a good place to start.

why is monthly magazine fucking sucks? there is literally nothing worth picking up from that mag aside from noragami.

>Dear Boys act 3,200
just do freaking more g-taste.
>>
>>134989960
Dear Boys ended for good this month.
Agreed that Noragami is the only thing that's good in there, pretty much the only requirement to get serialized seems to be being able to draw fucking huge chapters.

Whatever gets uploaded these days are shitty digital raws and you only have to read mainstream shit if you think what's on nyaa is anywhere near a comprehensive source of raws

>>
>>134995587
pan.baidu is okay speedwise if you use their client. Then again you better just backup on multiple sites.
>>
>>134995843
You won't be saying that when they delete your folders because of copyright infringement or fill your cloud with just a few raws and need to make another account. The best backup I know is mega. Dropbox also looks good if you have a paid account. Though nowadays you should just buy 2 external drives or something.

>>
>>134978536
Having done it for a couple of years in the past, I have nothing but respect for those that get the scanlation bug and put forth all that effort, but looking back, it's not really worth it. Didn't help my Japanese that much, and you don't find much need to do lots of text placement in Photoshop outside of this kind of thing.

Overall, it's kind of like the old saw about what the best thing is about repeatedly hitting yourself in the head with a brick ... how good it feels when you stop.

"?!" or "!?"?

There are literally dozens of "groups" that form on /a/ and work on a manga (sometimes more) before fizzling out after several months. The only long running groups I can think of are /ak/ (which do jack shit these days) and Habanero Scans (which isn't really a group, strictly speaking).

It's easier to identify individual scanners, a lot of them are tripfags and/or can be easily identified.

Off the top of my head: Hox, Boon, js06, Aereus, ultimateking, Elemhunter, Thundercloud, TranslatorFag, Royal, Thaifag (?), jagman1x3, Scanon.

It has nothing to do with the series but everything to do with the fact that the typical fan is ignorant and depend entirely on the fansubber/scanlators to provide the necessary information and just consume the medium without really caring much about the sources.
>>
>>135024340
Well it isn't fake. Some of the releases that I know of are definitely by /a/nons.

Those people are just adding it wrong since there's already a 'No Group' name to choose on batoto.

>>135024451
It's used when scanlations are dumped on /a/ without a group or source listed, I think it makes sense.

You can't just add "meme" to whatever topic comes up, retard. There are few scan anons, but the 9000F / MKII is a good scanner, and can be found for $120 or so fairly often.

No, I don't think any anons out there has an $800 scanner to test. It's a photo scanner anyway, so the bed is probably small. Reviews say that the "anti-newton" glass that they use attract a shitload of dust, too.

You don't need to be able to draw, just use the pen tool and follow what's there. In the first panel you would just clone stamp the pattern and then use the pen tool to complete the lines.

[WSJ 1204] ダブルブレット [平方昌宏] (oneshot)

>>135035869
You're pretty doomed if you haven't translated any works before but you can still try to post in e-h forums.
>>
>>135036230
>And I wish Abnormal-kei Joshi got picked back up, shit had potential.
Have there even been any new chapters of that? Author puts out like one every three months.
>>
>>135036298
Well, since it's been almost a year since the last release, I'd imagine there have been a few, yeah.
>>
>>135034267
What the – ANOTHER Ousama Game manga?

>>135036230
>And I wish Abnormal-kei Joshi got picked back up
Pretty sure it was never dropped. New chapters just come once in a blue moon because the author/artist is lazy that way.
>>
>>135036298
>>135036344
I just checked, latest raw I can see is chapter 15, latest release was chapter 11
>>

*[WSJ 1219]
Fuck me I'm tired as hell, it's 6am here.
>>
>>135036260
I honestly don't lurk there at all. I just read my own shit and hardly participate to be honest. I've lurked in the panda threads, but even then still just go on my own about the whole thing. So I'm not entirely sure how the whole thing works. I just figured I'd "charge' half of what they did, but I'm not even sure they charge actual money
>>
>>135036230
>>135036342

If it really has been dropped by the previous group, I'd be willing to translate. Someone else will have to edit though.

Wait a sec, Batoto has English scans up to Chapter 15. What gives?
>>
>>135036564
Someone else picked it up, evidently.
>>
>>135036564
Seems someone picked it up. I hadn't noticed, since no one bothered notifying it on MU
>>
>>135034975
K, this took a while. Removing glow effect from everything around the text is a pain, and I'm not very experienced with color pages, so hopefully this came out alright.
>>
>>135036421
Translate a few works by popular artists (even under Wani), and add a credit page saying that you're taking commissions.

>>135036461
I look forward to your translation, please dump it on /a/ when it's done.
>>
Scanned a recent Fujita A tribute issue. It was short, just a reprint of his debut oneshot and some illustrations by various other authors.
>>
>>135036639
I wouldn't rely too much on MU if I were you, they're really out of date sometimes.
>>
Any translators here who know what the fuck she keeps repeating every panel?
>>
>>135036087
Add texture, then burn/dodge to match the raw and then add the lineart and that's it
>>
>>135036668
That came out amazing. Still want another manga to redraw or you're good?

>>135036670
>I look forward to your translation, please dump it on /a/ when it's done.

Not my translation actually, found it on jcafe24 of all places.
But I can definitely dump it on /a/ whenever I'm finished, I've done that before with Mahou Shoujo Pretty Bell and REVOLT.
>>
>>135036834
She's saying she'll put out Rock (in rock paper scissors), but she talks like she has brain damage.
>>
>>135036834
It's baby talk for 最初(さいしょ)はグーですか?, which roughly translates to "Rock comes first?" (as in rock-paper-scissors).

I want to get into typesetting too, but don't know where to start. A quick search tells me to just use the tutorials of other groups, but I want to freelance this, and the link at the top doesn't work. Any help?

Is there a good way to scan a doujin without having to fuck its shit up? Or will I have to buy another one for that purpose?

Do you know what a tutorial is? Learn from the manual others have kindly put together for you. You don't have to join a group just because you consulted their tips on typesetting.

When will you faggots finish Sakamoto?
>>
>>135023696
How can such badly drawn shit even be in WSJ? Everything about this work scream amateur, the mangaka is not ready yet.
>>
>>135038343
There's been much, much worse in WSJ, plus it's a gag series so art doesn't matter. Japs seem to love it, so it's not going anywhere.
>>
>>135038618
Prison School proved that good art makes the comedy way better and funnier. Hell, good art makes anything way better, saying it doesn't matter is a true plebian opinion.
>>
>>135038775
The difference is that unlike Prison School, Saike is still funny without good art.
>>
>>135038809
Saiki is not funny either way. The art is just the most obvious flaw. The mangaka is an amateur in every other field too. Not like WSJ cares about any quality standards.
>>
>>135038889
Just because you can't read something doesn't make it not funny.
>>
>>135038945
30 chapters are translated. And like I said, from the pacing to the delivers and the composition, nigger is just way too amateur and doesn't deserve a spot.
>>
>>135039030
So then what does deserve that spot? E-Robot? Koisuru Edison? Retsu-senpai? The fact doesn't change that it's still miles better than all the other gag shit Jump has tried in ages, and has the sales to prove it.
>>
>>135039077
His art and composition is more fit for a 4 panel comedy manga.

NIgger needs to step up his game. His art is between devianart artist and the average mangaka.
>>
>>135037010
It's not exactly easy to scan for duplicates. It's still a people driven thing.
>>
>>135039688

Just delete everything that has [Kissmanga] appended to it. Kissmanga just rips from Batoto anyway, whoever made that scrape bot isn't too bright.
>>
>>135040113
Some of the chapters are actually missing the Batoto counterpart. I've seen it before, cause the scraper has fucked up. Or it missed some pages.

There is not. The best way to scan any kind of format is to take it apart and scan the pages one by one. Don't be an idiot and cut art or bend pages. In that case, don't bother scanning at all.

In the 80s, Kaze Takashi's parents moved to a quiet area in Tokyo to protect their son from the bad influence of his friends. In class, Takashi doesn't wait to make new friends. Passionate for motorcycle rallies, they invite Takashi to join the next event. It became a revelation for the young man and he decides to join a biker gang! Now all that's left is to find a motorbike...

Anyone wanna give it a try? It's a really damn good manga, both in art and story.

They won't share them? That's just stupid. Their pace with it is abysmal, they release a new chapter every 3 months if that.

People usually don't like publicly sharing things they paid for themselves for whatever reason, since someone else might start using them to work on it.

I finished volume 1 of Musume no Iede a week back or so. Pic related is first time I've ever redrawn gutters, moreso for a color page.

I'll probably take up something Elemhunter asked me to do once I ascertain my class schedule won't be absolute aids (it probably will be).

Out of curiosity, what resolution are ebook raws usually? ~800 × ~1200? And would you prefer shit/meh-tier raws cleaned up at higher resolution, or clean ebook raws at a lower resolution?
