Index NT is being deleted guys. Save your back up now.

Baka Tsuki got DCMA and projects related to them are being taken down.

Unlicensed projects too.

>Unlicensed projects too.

What the fuck? And B-T are just going to give in just like that?

Who gave the DMCA? If it's Dengeki themselves I won't mind, but if it's Yen Press or some other Murrican publisher then they can fuck right off, it's just like FAGimation's Lance Heiskell back in 2008.
>>
>>134893396
DMCA is a very un-American process. Anyone can issue a DMCA request, and you have to take it down immediately. You then can protest and try and get it reinstated, but the legal burden is on the accused here, which is the complete opposite of how things normally work.

From the B-T facebook page

Alright guys, this one's a doozy:
Baka-Tsuki just got hit by a DMCA from Kadokawa. And this time, it's crippling,
Series affected by this are (all languages):
DAL, Itsuten, Haganai, DYD, Index, LH, Mondaiji. Nobuna, Arisu, Nareru SE, Kuusen, Sakurasou, Shana, Slayers, Chaika, Ero-manga, Spice & Wolf, Baccano, Black Bullet, Accel World, Index, Oreimo and Papakiki
Also, a note from Big Boss (tlg):
"Hey guys,
Looks like this time it's Kadokawa's turn to send DMCA, and it's a doozy. There are so many series listed that I think the jig is pretty much up. The server will need to be move from US if B-T wants to survive.
If this is the case I don't think I can continue to pay for the server anymore (as outright copyright infringement conflicts with my job). We will need to find a person to take over the operation. The server requirement shouldn't be that expensive. $20/month would suffice, I believe.
tlg"
>>
Note from Ping:

The DMCA is from Kadokawa, just like how Campione was taken down the last time.

I can assure you that NT is not being taken down at this time though. The reason why only 2 side stories were taken down was because they were listed, and not the others.

It doesn't even have to do with being poor and wanting shit for free.
If official translations were released with the same speed and quality as fan works were I wouldn't mind paying a few shekels at my local b&n. Hell I'd be happy to, it would be easier to build a collection and I much prefer reading physical books to digital ones. The same goes for anime, if late-night shit was translated and provided with the same quality as certain subgroups every week, I wouldn't be against subscribing to something.

But fuck streaming quality, fuck waiting years for a shoddy official translation. I want it now and I want it to look good. The free part is just a bonus.

It's cool.
>>
>>134899250
>If official translations were released with the same speed and quality as fan works were I wouldn't mind paying a few shekels at my local b&n

They won't go fast because they don't want to oversaturate the market the way manga and anime localizers have done before - which bankrupted several of them. So they pick a modest range of popular series - enough to spread out the risk, but not too many because licensing costs - and trickle out three volumes a year for each.
>>
>>134900148
Didn't they know that not all people are patient? Most picks by YP are shit that fizzle out fame-wise after the anime, and everyone knows what happened between Viz and Shana.

>Unlicensed projects too.

WHY FUCKING DO THIS?

I live in fucking Latin America. I don't speak japanese and unless I get licensed novels online paying a testicle for customs I won't ever get my hands on a copy.
Then why the hell do this?
It's not like their sales numbers are dropping for having fanmade translations. I would even bet that having fanmade translations can get them a lot more money because it can reach even more fans who'll then buy the novels when they get released.

Fuck man novels take ages to be licensed in english and even more time to be released. Same fucking thing happened to Mahouka, was taken down from BT when I was halfway through and now it's fucked up and can't find it anywhere on the internet..

Japanese publishers have their wallets full, light novels sell like hotcakes in Japan they dont fucking need to do this, much less for novels that aren't translated to english yet.

And the saddest part is that this bullshi is what has translators dropping projects frequently.
They're fucking doing it for free and get sued for it.
>>
>>134901713
What is hilarious is that they take down translations for even stuff like the Turkish language and Japan has no interest in marketing to areas like that. Fuck the DMCA.
>>
>>134898542
For now.
Did anyone prep links for those two? Those side stories are unlikely to ever be officially translated; it was enough suffering finding the raw text.
>>
Hmm. A bunch of that is not popular enough to ever be worth licensing, so it can't be that.

Could it be because characters from a whole bunch of those are in this fighting game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJqDY8kj7YY and we're getting a port of it? And then it percolated through the massive media conglomerate network and anything tangentially related ended up on the enforcement list?

Also I'm pretty sure Arisu isn't even that popular in Japan and isn't in any game, so that might accidentally have revealed an upcoming anime.

Viz's problem with Shana stemmed from censorship and no one knowing wtf a light novel was. Everyone knows about them now, so they aren't the risk they once were. What do you mean?
Let's say I create a password protected account, host the pdf files and give you guys the password, wouldn't that be a good way? If I'm not advertising it I'm guessing they won't bother taking it down
I don't know shit about hosting and torrents so there's that too

>>
>>134905888
Fuck. What if it's for personal use and I don't give the password to anyone, keeping it to myself?

If you guys give me a good way to share the files without getting in trouble I'll do that and just use dropbox for myself, I really want that offline access

Sorry for the computer illiteracy.

Never understood this fan translation mentality. It's as if people just can't let go of the past. Official translations aren't bad. The biggest difference I've notice between the two are that fan translations tend to be more vulgar. At the rate Kamachi is going, we'll probably be at the third iteration of Index when YP gets to NT. delete that, found the one

the thing is the storage space it's way too little, i'll call them tomorrow morning and see if other plans can be arranged and at what cost.
>>
>>134928960
question to whoever may know, if a buy more than one plan, can i host the same webpage in both? because the plan with infinite transference is something like 4USD month, so if i can just get 5 of those everything would work just fine

For people who read web novels, the authors of those web novels usually head to Overlap to start publishing their web novels.

From all that hype, you'd be retarded tp think its anything but index 3

Everyone has the right to be salty over that. It was straight up cruel

>>
>>134931581
>https://fantasticmemes.wordpress.com/2015/07/21/oregairu-unrelease-schedule/
There have been attempts on that from the translator side but as you can see it's pretty futile.
>>
>>134931125

You know, this shit would have a shot at working if they weren't so fucking hostile towards the fan translators. Like, as they translate each novel and put shit up on Book Walker, they issue a corresponding take down on that particular book.

Instead, they take down a bunch of shit all at once. There is no guarantee they won't drop said titles mid-way through. Long LNs like Index will take years for them to catch up to. There is no other alternative other than waiting on their bullshit. It's a huge fuck you to fans.

And now they aren't going to fucking get anywhere because fans will boycott their shit out of spite. Because they were too stupid to realize how the internet works to realize that they can't truly suppress fan translation and file sharing. All this did was piss off a bunch of people with a mild inconvenience. Nothing is going to change. We have most of this shit backed up. It's like Napster all over again.

Oh well, Gen X mentality for you.

Psycho Love Comedy was one volume away from being completely translated.

>There is no guarantee they won't drop said titles mid-way through.

No guarantee, but a precedent. This isn't a mom and pop operation like Seven Seas and Tokyopop. Yen Press has the backing of the actual publishing industry. If Index only breaks even or sells for a loss it's simply the cost of doing business with Kadokawa. Canceling books strains a relationship that is worth far more than a single title. /a/ needs to get some perspective, as things are not always equal in the world of business.
