The anime is terrible, the manga is great for what it is but has very slow pacing for the first part, until it moves from psychological to action-based.

There's a lot of interesting symbolism and subtext, as well as a strong focus on character development and exploration if you like that kind of thing, but the overarching plot is very slow to develop and if you aren't interested in the themes it explores you're not going to engage with it.

It really depends on your personal taste.

Still, if you are comparing Berserk to Tokyo Ghoul, and if "edgy" is the theme of the debate, you can establish that one is clearly more edgy than the other. If you're going to ignore the usefulness of the term, though, then you can probably see where the problem stems from.
