The sovereigns seem to be aware of what was going on in the real world though, based on azulongmon's exposition and how the devas themselves could somewhat interact without being fully realized, like when they trolled hypnos.

What method they found I have no idea, but considering azulongmon asked the digignomes to turn EVOLUTION ITSELF into calumon, it seems comparatively easy.

If i were to guess (based on the visuals and the mechanics), I would say it was done by creating a portal to the digital world where they stand, allowing them to evolve first and then materialize in the real world.

I personally do thing that Elecmon and Labramon work better, and they are "right" to me. But "right" is subjective.

All digimon evolve into all digimon. Besides, if we take "official" evolutions seriously, we would end up finding silly things like adults who evolves to armors who evolves to human spirits who evolves to armors and then end up in a weird cycle of evolutions.

I find that it's wasted potential because the characters and the writing are excellent, but the stupid xrossing and ugly designs prevent it from being the best Digimon manga.
It's great at being a manga, but terrible at being Digimon-related, so no matter how good it is it will never be a good /Digimon/ thing.

Each Digimon in this Xros retains its full consciousness, and after a battle they separate again.

You can't even say that Armageddemon was injured, because it very obviously showed us that he seemed to tank all attacks from Omegamon, Dragon Mode, and Fighter Mode with no visible damage. Also, regardless of how Imperialdramon got his power, he's still Imperialdramon no matter how you try to rationalize it.
