I'll start it off, Argento Soma, and Cyber Six
Even I don't remember shit about it now, should give it a rewatch later, but I really loved the animal gods in it.
Too recent. They're all pretty forgettable, though.
at least not in /a/
And for good reason. The feeling of watching it is like the feeling of buying a Disgaea game knowing that you don't have the time for it.
Blue Gender. I think I'm the only one who watched it and I enjoyed it.
For good reason. Seriously though. This dude becomes a world class assassin, taking out entire sections of organized crime and someone just shoots him in the back of the head in a grassy field? The fuck. And that daft bitch probably thought he was sleeping
I'm watching it right now, and even if it shits itself in the end the cinematography in the first couple episodes, particularly ep 1, was fantastic.
Guy is a college student, having relationship problems with girlfriend (who he cares a lot about, but they don't seem to communicate well) who is heavily involved with her professor's research around alien lifeforms. He gets one and they revive it in a lab but the girlfriend dies in the process, and guy has something happen to him that gives him partly alien-like properties. Meanwhile the alien escapes and starts hanging out with a preteen girl who's strangely reminiscent of the guy's dead girlfriend. Guy gets convinced by a shadowy Mephistopheles type dude to join up with Funeral, a military agency that deals with aliens, to find out more about the EX-1 (the first alien) and presumably destroy it as revenge.
Not a great summary, but the show is pretty good. First episode should be enough to let you know what you're in for story- and tone-wise.
I remember anon. Another masterpiece that got disemboweled by bad writing
Literally no one.
>The little brother just died immediately, instead of being an endless conduit for MC to go >durrr protect the people I care about! aaahhhhhhHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
You never see that in anime, you know? Where real shit just happens. I found that really refreshing, and it gave the story a gritty and suspenseful feel, like you really didn't know what was going to happen.
>It was the NTR drone who sapped the soul from the show
What sapped the sould of the show is the moment they completely stopped trying to hide the fact that characters were plot devices.
The last base defense episode was glorious. The mecha animation was gold too at times.
What happened? There used to be threads daily then it just... died. I don't even see people use reaction images.
I will never forget CASSHEWS
i remember this when i was first starting to watch anime. rizelmine was first, this was probably like the tenth show i watched after. i even had a list of like 70 different animes i was watching at a time. this was my highschool summer
There's nothing to discuss? It wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. It was okay.
I remember watching this weird as fuck anime where this kid eats this weird chicks saliva and then he becomes super sick without her saliva. Then they start dating after that.
I don't remember the name or if it was actually popular.
Speaking of, vidya OVA's in general. Alone they're garbage and to fans they're "meh" at best. Usually anyways,
>it went from so good, to so bad
It was never so good to begin with, it was told in a very artificial and mechanical way from the beginning, they just stopped trying to hide it midway.
Same as Bones Chaika.
Mysterious Girlfriend X
I got sick watching so I had to drop it.
>It was never so good to begin with
I thought the worldbuilding was very good, in the first half. It was pretty vivid and unique, and it was not told amazingly, but decently enough that the typical contrived, early-story conflicts weren't a chore to sit through.
This also came through in the resolution, where, despite becoming completely garbage in the second half, and despite the large number of plotholes, it had at least a couple twists at the end that were engaging.
I think it could have been a really great story if it had been handled differently. I watched this anime years ago, and here I am, still talking about it.
>I thought the worldbuilding was very good
Mere ideas and concepts used to give some context to the action. Those are the only things that could help to blind people from the mechanical way things were delivered. The second half is completely missing those, leaving only the device characters that were here from the beginning.
>I think it could have been a really great story if it had been handled differently
Maybe with 2 cours and actual substance instead of mere concepts.
>I watched this anime years ago, and here I am, still talking about it
I watched this anime a couple of months ago and probably won't talk much about it in the future for there's so little to say about beyond "the plants were great, the tits looked soft".
Did anyone even know it existed? It was a oneshot though.
Do you remember /a/?
Has anyone read/watched/played Ninku? I watched the OVA when it came on a DVD for one of the YuYu Hakusho movies and have heard nothing of it since.
Catchy ending though.
It's not completely forgotten but Outlaw Star deserve more attention. It got everything : great animation, likeable cast (except samurai), god tier opening, interesting setting, it's fun, the story is interesting and the ending satisfying. Sunrise at it's finest.
No, we remember it. For being shit.
Okay, also kiiiinda shit, but only because the main characters were basically walking cardboard. the political intrigue behind it all was far more interesting.
how can no one remember some of the best cinematic timing ever seen in anime?
If no one remembers them then why are any of you posting? Unless you are nobody
This my gateway series still rewatch it time to time
Anime that flew under the radar to the point of obscurity.
like this one.
This shit was comfy as fuck when I first watched it.
Why thank you? it was bizarrely the dumbest thing but literally the first thing I thought in response to your comment.
Worryingly I remember a lot of one liners from American Dad, it and Venture Bros are the few things I watch outside of mostly anime.
A Ironic but dark driven tale of a world where men reproduce with men and women with women. As they revive an ancient alien ship, only to signal its beacon to an ancient Reaper Like civilization that havests all intelligent organic every few millenia.
Outlaw Star does not belong in this thread.
>taco taco taco
That and the fact that it's vaguely considered a part of a trilogy with NOIR and MADLAX means that it'll be remembered regardless.
Yes, based villain gave each his main men a big briefcase of gold each and told them to leave before shit went down.
Set in a post-apocaliptic world where all men have died out due to a biological accident and resulting warfare. The last generation of human females resort to science to either extent their lives or through cloning. All of this coped with the fact of being threatened by ICE, a genetically modified alien virus that infects females and turns them into weapons, which may prove to be the key to either their extinction or salvation.
Teacher and student start to get feelings for each other, but then some cunt reveals the sex of the teacher and stirs up a shitstorm, forcing him to leave town and his jailbait waifu
You have an obligation to get him to watch it. Even if it means strapping him to a chair and prying his eyes open.
Alright, done and done.
Wolf's Rain. A critically aclaimed and controversial Josei original anime which was deemed too shocking due to its beastiality scenes in which the main heroine voyages with a pack of wolves in an attempt to find her origins while escaping the defiled driven hands of her master and creator.
>no one remembers the color wars
I only remember Green and
Rahxephon. Considered by many the "Angelic" version of the infernal and depressive but not less marking, Neon Genesis Evangelion, the series sheds a new light into great tropical landscales, the relation between humans and aliens with a mucha style driven technique and the mecha like animation of the great throne of Sage, to which continues to amaze. And question till the very end with its dubious and violent incest female on male rape scene.
One of the most blatant instances of " Where are the fucking social services?"
Two girls living alone after their parents died and are often struggling with money.
Gasaraki. The ending was pretty shit though so the story ended up being pretty forgettable. I did like the focus on the reasonably realistic politics and world, and the fucking weird combination between realistic looking mechs and fucking noh of all things.
Recently rewatched it, and it still holds up. Now that I am Haruka's age, I understand the love theme better.
The anime was visually so pleasing, and the soundtrack was gold.
Nah its not forgottten. the mechadesign of rahxephon is among my favorites.
also its a show where nee-san actually wins
what was up with his mother and talking as if her mouth was full of spit
Did anyone ever watch this? It was retarded and horrible. I only watched it because the whole show was on tv one evening.
That's because the VA is a famous Jazz Musician/Composer and no professional. It always sounds odd when non-professionals do voice acting.
Video somewhat related
A Ten minute ova based on historical incident that eventually led to the defeat and death 200 British Knights during the Scottish War of independence. In which a five year old requests to a skilled and albeit legendary Arthurian character to save her village from rape and plunder by the wicked British.
Yeah, I suppose the director asked her to voice Ayato's mother because she was the composer of the OST and Music is the main theme of the show. She figuratively gave birth to the most important element of rahxephon, so it makes sense.
Well I wouldn't say forgotten but I just wanted an excuse to post this
>ninjas that killed through sex
That's the best kind of ninja.
Proof that you can create a nice atmosphere with shitty production values.
Have talked to very few anime fans who have heard of never mind seen this but it's possible they were all just idiots with bad taste
Nothing short of a miracle that this even got subbed.
Both really good.
It was decent, but the movie was so terrible.
Female Earth representatives taking away our breedin' bots!
The Author was murdered though.
Who else binge watches some shows posted on these threads?
Ginban Kaleidoscope and this one.
Also, anyone here who remembers Saiunkoku Monogatari (Story of Saiunkoku/Colorcloud Palace) and Magikano? Seems Animax Asia aired a lot of obscure anime back in the day.
Didn't watch it but its OP was amazing.
May this series never die.
Oh fuck man, I loved this show for some reason, it's really fucking funny. Honestly the author could write some good comedy about life in school. That and they were all pretty cute, but Yuujirou is the best princess mainly because his VA was perfect.
I cried when I finished the manga
Bestiality scenes? There were none? It's OK, it wasn't amazing, but it was pretty fun to watch, I heard the manga's artist didn't even know Toboe was a boy until it was directly stated.
It's got a weird fanbase of Fujofurries, and probably started the whole "I'm a wolf inside" craze.
This show was alright, it should have stayed an OVA like the original four episodes which were better than the rest. You can easily see exactly when they have to budget. Decent, worth a watch if you want to remember staying up late to watch any anime that was being shown.
I remember that I hated the MC, but I can't remember why.
Then you're a fucking nerd. I only did that a couple of times as a kid, it's great fun doing it now, putting on some cheesy fun show that isn't a perfect ten but you love it anyway, Legend Of Black Heaven is also great for that.
What ever happened to Kia Asamiya?
You wouldn't expect this from a yaoi author.
Started Zettai Shounen (first ep only), it's written by Kazunori Ito, and has a good team of people on it, why does no one talk about it?
Also Argento Soma and the likes are interesting cases of seemingly ambitious anime that failed being recognized, I should watch it/them.
NGE with a twist is still interesting...
Yeah the atmosphere seems nice and slow, but I'm afraid the world-building turns out dumb a bit like Kamichu! with some weird things like "somebody ressurected" or something, I didn't get lot from episode one but seems strange. Also the storytelling don't take you for a child explaining everything that's nice, but to be honest I'm not really in the mood to being lost in my anime currently.
Onegai Teacher. Perhaps the "only" anime series depicting a marriage between a minor and an adult woman, under the excuse the student was in a coma.
It is considered a tombstone of remarkble romance/drama.
The English opening is better, though the ending for this show fucked me up. It's still a really good show, and you can clearly see that SEL and GiTS were inspired by it.
She wasn't a robot all along.
and there is good reason for that.
I don't remember this anime has been ever mentioned around here since 2012.
1st season has a special place in my heart, 2nd was shit
I tend to just watch the openings. Posted this in the last thread right after re-watching. I love the OP so much.
One of the first fanservice anime I saw. I don't even remember the plot. Just some girl raping someone, the MC getting spanked and pissing after being choked.
I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever seen this anime mentioned on here.
Makes me mad that the manga will never be translated.
This had a really good OP and ED.
Hate to turn this into /v/.
Whos the hell is going to replace nimoy and lee? That's some big ass shoes to fill.
Though they did replace Zane after the first game. To my displeasure.
>tfw both VAs for xemnas and ansem SOD are in the English dub for Jojos.
Back on topic...
Speaking of the Fire Emblem OVA. It only lasted two episodes. It would have been a hell of a lot better if they didn't focus on Marths Love interest for whatever reason.
I thought it was going to turn into a hentai after his love interest lead him up into her room.
Also the fucking Sunday School special like music.
>That's some big ass shoes to fill.
My guess is an impersonator and a good one. Disney has money like that after all. And nip VA's aren't that bad with voice choices as seen with Netero in HxH. I mean, I preferred his old voice, but the new voice wasn't bad.
I don't want to say Thankfully because I'm not thankful, but at least Williams and C. Lee had adequate replacements for Genie and Ansem. A shame because Nimoy would have been absolutely amazing.
I remember very little about this, but I can still recognize it just glancing at the main girl.
I don't even remember why I watched it in the first place. All I remember is vampires and hand-stabbing.
It's one of the few anime that Adult Swim aired that was actually really good. I re-watched it about a month back actually.
Here's one that you probably saw too.
This man is your friend. He goes fast for your freedom.
Well, it's just porn. No one's gonna care about Hitomi Tanaka once the wrinkles really set in. I think the only reason Bible Black stood out was because of its shock value to the west.
Yet Nightshift Nurses isn't treated like the 2 girls 1 cup of anime.
People remember it for the disappointment, unneeded continuation, and the fact that funimation actually dropped the dub so all that remains is the original and 4kids.
>I think the only reason Bible Black stood out was because of its shock value to the west.
Or because the plot was exceptionally interesting for hentai. I rewatch it for the plot every now and then, it holds up.
I actually wish some series were not hentai because the premise is so interesting. Advancer Tina stands out to me since it was probably the first hentai I watched in full and had a story. I had to be like 13 but I really wanted to know what happened.
I've always been interested in this show because of the weird looking main character and the Tetsuya Nishio character designs, but it was never subbed for the longest time. Looks like 30 of the 55 episodes have been subbed, but the last one was over a year ago. If the show is ever fully subbed I'll give it a chance.
Not what you're looking for, but you just reminded me of this. The setting was medieval, it was comedy, and the guy is kinda big.
I remember liking how the couple actually seemed to develop their relationship throughout the first season, but when the first episode of the second season came out and it seemed like they were back at square one I just noped the fuck out.
Legend of the galactic heroes
Grenadier has the best female lead ever.
This is only mentioned because of it's awful sequel.
But, to this day I still enjoy this series.
>was there a romance between her and that guy who joined her?
There was in the sense that the author didn't care wasting time on it. You got a panel of a smiling Rushuna at the end of the manga saying "Rushuna went home and married mr sworsman, the end". You don't watch Grenadier for romance stuff anyway.
>tfw you're the only one who loved this series
Why does the adaptation have to be so shit? This isn't fair.
>You don't watch Grenadier for romance stuff anyway.
I noticed. I just hate it when romance gets shoved in just cause. I'm watching for boob reloads not 5 minute gooey eyes.
He basically did. The female lead got raped by the villain in the LNs, the fans got really mad, and the author rewrote it so that the villain was impotent and just attacked her instead.
well, what would happen after she got raped? would the LN end there? or is she held capture and has to escape?
what happens in the rewrote edition? I'm curious now
I didn't read the LNs, so I don't actually know what he planned after that, but in the rewritten version he beats the shit out of her, strips her, and then tells her he can't rape her because he's impotent and leaves her lying in the woods or wherever.
thats anticlimatic, thanks anon.
it was shit and i don't even know why i watched all of it
That pink haired girl ruined any episode she had a line in.
I only saw the trailers and I'm glad it was only that. Looking at it now, I wouldn't watch it.
>The theme song still makes me hype
It's so good. Haven't heard anything similar since the 90's/00's. Though still, SS was a special case. Also muscle girl MC with a younger brother will never not be a great thing.
>official art ultra gay
>get to episode 10
It wasn't as gay as the posters lead on.
If only desu had the moe archive maybe I could have gotten something.
I read a few volumes of the manga. I couldn't really bring myself to finish. Lady has addiction to internet, black haired lady who's name I don't remember smashes it with a baseball bat. Doesn't solve the problem in the slightest and she and the guy move on. It was in that chapter that I wondered "What's the point of this again?"
Suspense. Then again I was watching alone in the dark in my empty house that is itself kind of isolated from neighbors well past midnight. Maybe it was the tone of it combined with how I watched it that appealed to me.
There was one time when i tried to watch everything that had Nakahara in it.
Flag, at least not on /a/.
Watched it few months ago, except for main 2 characters and last episode it was quite enjoyable.
What was the difference between this and Madlax? They looked identical to me and I had no idea which to give a chance.
never watched madlax, but noir has a really neat athmospherical buildup and one of the most awesome soundtracks I've ever known so far.
it's 25 episodes long though.. could've been a bit shorter
It's actually the promo art. I have a poster of it that came in a NewtypeUSA magazine. This was the other side.
Do it. Famous pop stars may frequent your bar and then you can marry one.
whilst being a barkeeper is pretty comfy in an actual comfy bar (not tourist shitbag mcbars), at bigger locations with lots of people and party
It's stressful as fuck, you feel like in a cage full of retarded apes sooner or later. (itr's really horryfiying to see what intoxication does to humans when you're propably the most sober person around)
the bar will be your fortress in moments like that especially if you're considered qt.
it's kind of fun though I must admit
Did you need any of kind of formal training or references to work at one?
I'm still thinking of becoming one, but from what you're saying I should be aiming for smaller bars.
I just want to wear a tux and hear people's problems.
I don't care if it was drawn over the top, this was quite likable.
Last I saw of this was in a VHS section next to Aeon Flux.
It much was better than I expected,
A trolled me that It's some sorta fujoshit of the season, just like with Hibike, but it was full bromance
Quiet hype for s4
