Let's have a thread about anime related documentaries. I recently watched the Animator Expo documentary and The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness, the Ghibli documentary.

>hopeful

It is amazing that he didn't kill himself.

Holy shit, his arms are small.

I'm pretty sure he's doing alright nowadays.

Will they ever learn?

Surely somebody else is interested in watching more documentaries
>>
>>134047701
Not about Anno, though.
>>
>>134047749
Some documentaries about other people or studios than Anno/gainax/ghibli would be great, yeah. Surely they exist somewhere.

About anno he should concentrate on animating
>>
>>134047447
Since you post the master, have you seen Otaku No Video?
>>
Not really Anime related but...

>>
>>134047928
Ofcourse
>>
>>134047837
I remember watching that one a few years ago. Pretty interesting, though I feel like I didn't really learn a whole lot of new stuff because throughout the years it's rather unlikely to not learn about Tezuka and his work when you're following anime. I guess that's just what happens when someone is that influential and famous.
>>
Most of you have probably seen Shirobako already. Obviously it's not really a documentary, but it does give a pretty good overview of what an anime studio is like. Interesting stuff.
>>
Does someone have that image with anno and miyazaki. The one where anno tells him a bunch of bullshit about rotoscoping.
>>

>danny choo
I know, but seeing the inside of JC is still pretty interesting. Make sure you skip Choo's first five minutes of retardation.

Try Yasuo Otsuka┬┤s Joy in Motion. Quite interesting.

Gainax during Gurren Lagann production.
>>
>>134047447
Not exactly what you're looking for, but Bakuman explains pretty well how popular manga magazines like shonen jump work and all the work it entails.
A shame that when it runs out of explanations about manga industry it turns into drama bullshit.
>>
>>134047447
Link for the Animator Expo documentary?
>>
>>134049118
The drama in Bakuman is bad. Just like the romance.

Agreed, I enjoyed the manga quite a bit but at some points the drama just felt kind of over the top and unneeded.

I don't think it's been subbed yet.
>>
I would watch an entire series of documentaries about Anno. The dude's attitude and mannerisms are hilarious.
>>
>>134049387

Didn't they make a series about his wife as a short anime or something?
>>
>>134049412
There's a short anime based on a manga his wife draws about their life together, yeah. It's not quite the same as seeing him in the flesh though. I don't think 2D has quite managed to capture Anno in all his ridiculousness.
>>
>>134049118
>>134049230

And all that'll be left is pure white ash

Maybe after Rebuild finishes (or when he dies before that as will inevitably happen) there would be a doc or something similar on the making of Eva and its fallout

I can hope
>>
>>134047447
Otaku no Video is really good. Even though it's technically a mockumentary.
>>
>>134047701
Anno is a faggot and I don't respect the guy.
>>
Does anyone know any documentaries about SHAFT? I'm interested in seeing how much more digital their workflow is compared to the ones posted so far.
>>
>>134049954
>how many pairs of tits and feet are in those 2 minutes we just animated?
>Only 17?! You clearly don't know anything about our artistic direction, go back to Kyoani you faggot

something along those lines
>>
>>134050091
I just want actual, raw footage of someone opening paint, selecting a color, filling the screen with it and copying some text from the novels on top of it.
>>
>>134050091
>how many things are animated in those 2 minutes we just done?
>17?! You clearly don't know anything about our artistic direction, go back to Kyoani you faggot
Fixed it for you.
>>
So any good anime related books I could buy in English apart from Miyazaki's Starting and Turning Points?
>>
>>134047547
He's directing Godzilla while wearing flip-flops and he's happily married. He's fine.
>>
>>134050350
There is this. It is interesting if you like old Gainax.
>>

>>
There's been a lot of extras on dvds over the years, mostly interviews but some making of stuff. Not sure how much of it has made it online, probably only the really popular stuff.

Ghibli has like a billion makings of and documentaries over the years.

I uh, found this about the first Naruto movie. Doesn't seem like anything special https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdzjqOuO_Ig

I remember ANN had multiple studio tours years ago, they're pretty cut and dry but also kind of relaxing to watch.
>>
>>134047701

Does Anno have a twitch in his arm?
>>
>>134052259
I think he's just warming up for the soon-to-follow masturbation session.
>>
>>134047701

whats this from?

Thanks suck that subbing these are basically dead
