To what extent is Motoko a cyborg and not human? Does she have a human cortex? A human spinal cord? What parts of her were replaced? Does she still have a soul? Was she originally a man?
>>
>>134000588
She's a transhuman like one of those gundams or americans
>>
>>134000588
The Mayor only has a (allegedly) human brain.
>>
>>134000765

>mayor

I smell a meme.
>>
>>134000588
>To what extent is Motoko a cyborg and not human?

She's pretty much entirely a robot.
>>
>>134000588
>To what extent is Motoko a cyborg and not human?
Her body is a prosthetic body, she still has a human brain.

Does she have a human cortex? A human spinal cord?
No spinal cord if you were actually watching the series, brains are encased in a unit.

What parts of her were replaced?
Her whole body

Does she still have a soul?
Apparently she does, but it gets weird since she merged with the puppet master on the original movie. So the original major might not be the same person she is now.

>Was she originally a man?
Where you even watching the anime?

>am I a faggot?
Yes you are OP.
>>
>>134000588
Did you even watch the fucking series? Literally every question you asked is answered besides the soul bit, which is a massive theme of the series.

>>134000765
to what extent are Cyber-brains 'human' though? Are they actually just a persons brain, encased in a metal skull and grafted with a cybernetic interface?
I was always under the impression they were an incredibly sophisticated 'consiousness' transplant of some sort.
>>
>>134003307
>Are they actually just a persons brain, encased in a metal skull and grafted with a cybernetic interface?

You just answered your own question.

being fair, there are full-on synthetic brain cases in-universe, so people CAN become fully machines and the only human thing left over would be your conciousness.

GitS (1995) > GitS: SAC 2G > GitS:SAC > GitS: SAC SSS > GitS 2 (2004)

Prove me wrong.

>>134003530

Don't need to, I agree.
>>
>>134003530
Unquestionably true in every respect.
>>
>>134003375
Ok, so both my suspicions were correct, I guess.

One of the little things that irks me is how little GiTS ever goes into the specifics of cyberization, instead leaving a lot of things to implication. Granted this also works out in the shows favor, but it can get annoying sometimes.

For instance, just how much are full body cyborgs like Batou and the Major supposed to weigh? They seem to be able to jump and land pretty deftly. Often times landing from a tremendous height without so much as an impact. Yet they're still tough enough to engage in heavy combat with mechanized tanks and such.

>>
>>134003307
There are different degrees of cyberization. Most people retain most of their human brain, but advanced cyberbrains retain only a fraction and in extreme cases it's only a few %.

At what point does it stop being a woman and start being a fleshlight?
>>
>>134000588

No
All this shit started because during episode Batou told Motoko if she like to fight so much she should use a man body more adapted to combat and some retards interpreted this as Motoko was man before
>>
>>134003597
>For instance, just how much are full body cyborgs like Batou and the Major supposed to weigh?
Heavy enough not to float in water.
>>
The more cyberbrain you go the harder it is to keep a ghost, considering how she always talks about her ghost whispering I would assume she's at least 50% real brain tissue.

I would consider the major to be a cyborg, so technically a women when it comes to sexual activities.

When you have a piece of tech with either an A.I or no human consciousness, then you can call it an inanimate object
>>
>>134004187
It was either edgy le deep shit or just boring as fuck and made me want to sleep. SAC is better in every way.
>>
>>134004115
I thought all this started because the Shiro never out rightly stated Motoko's original sex, and left it up to speculation, even fanning the possibility at times, and was super coy about who Motoko was before she went full cyborg. Was 2nd Gig was the first time we got definitive Major backstory?

>>134004157
That would have more to do with materiel density than mass or weight, though.

2 and 5.
>>
>>134003597
Dude, if you want spec-sheets then you better go someplace else to get your cyberpunk fix, GitS has never been the type to provide that cheap line of exposition.

> They seem to be able to jump and land pretty deftly. Often times landing from a tremendous height without so much as an impact.

This seems to vary depending on the rule of cool, sometimes the major moves like an agile gymnasts, other times she lands on a rooftop and it'll dent, like in the market chase scene of the original movie 1995 movie.

>Yet they're still tough enough to engage in heavy combat with mechanized tanks and such.

We can make synthetic compunds right now that behave like muscles, but are also orders of magnitude stronger than the actual flesh and bone deal, so that really shouldn't let it bother you this much.

>GitS (1995) > GitS: SAC 2G > GitS:SAC

GITS'95 isn't better than the SAC series
it's just not. Someone explain this to me because it just seems like the people propping up the movies have ONE only seen the movies and have not watched SAC or TWO haven't read the fucking manga.

The setting and world building in SAC are unmatched in it's franchise.

GitS'95 wins just in terms of pure cinematography, animation and themes. If you judge purely on world building and plot, then it would be SAC
>>
>>134004778
What about three?
>>
>>134004493
I definitely don't want spec sheets. Like I said, it definately works in GiTS favor that they don't spell out layers of technical exposition.

>This seems to vary depending on the rule of cool
This is really what I was getting at. For a show that is usually super grounded when it comes to addressing geo-politics or police procedure, it gets slightly jarring when we fall back on 'cyborg magic' as convenient.

But this is really just a super minor complaint. The series are still some of the best out there.

By size alone SAC covers more themes, cinematography and animation. are top notch too it's one the most expensive TV anime ever made. GITS'95 is very dry and short while SAC maitain those same while have a world and setting that are vibrant colorful and alive.
