I didn't like Gacha Gacha Secret. It ended up as a story about an unpopular dude in love triangle with two beautiful girls and just kept dragging on and meandering without really leading up to anything. And I found the ending both stupid and abrupt. The final story arc came completely out of nowhere (the author really ought to have thrown hints before since what he wrote was a pretty transparent attempt to inject drama without building on anything), was resolved in a really stupid deus ex machina manner and had no effect in the plot either (the characters went back at exactly the same state they were before it happened so all the forced drama it was entirely pointless).

As I said, it's not really good but I like it as it's pretty comfy for me. The guy actually slowly starts getting to the girl. The progress is slow but it is there and it's not an immediate turn. From stranger, to friend, to close friend, to crush.

I liked the nice chill pace. You don't go into that sort of thing looking for story anyways. It's very chill.

It wasn't really a love traingle. While I don't really like how they made the little sister like the MC immediately, their interactions are still pretty comfy.

Decided to read Gacha Gacha Secret in the mean time; I can see what you mean about it being comfy. I like the idea of a male character warming up to the object of his affection (or lust, in this case) and learn about how it might feel to be a girl firsthand.

To me it felt like the story wasn't building up to anything. I found it rather similar to Pretty Face in that regard, which I think also lost its sense of direction and meandered until its editor pulled the plug.

And I do think it was a love triangle. The MC had two girls interested in him and didn't pick one. I also didin't like the fact that in the end the situation was abruptly resolved for him. And the way the manga was axed shows that the manga had no real end goal, since the status quo remained the pretty much same as it had been during the series.

This never really had any direction though. It jsut kept moving and there was nothing wrong with that. Most manga like that end up having dissatisfying endings as they always inject drama in the end out of nowhere anyways.

I only would consider it a love triangle if both of his interactions with the girls actually clashed in a way. He never had one of those "Who should I pick moments". They never really did till the end and that was the same time it was pretty much axed. There are a lot of underutilized points.

Reading ahead, the manga doesn't end with the cocoon thing and their confirmation of their feelings, does it? There's 12 chapters scanlated and it seems like your standard fare for couples afterwards, with the exception/justification of Mamiya still getting used to being a girl and/or Miyoshi accepting it. Nice to see the story continues but it doesn't feel particularly interesting compared to other stories once they overcome the main hurdle in their relationship.

Even for "emergence" and the symbolism of his transformation, it was bizarre. It felt shoehorned when the entire manga was already previously about him coming to terms with his new life as a woman and how it affected his relationship with Miyoshi. If you want imagery, there's better ways to go about it.
