Your logic is extremely flawed. It is easy to put your character through some kind of cheesy trauma. Refer Sauske, Shirou, ect, ect, ect. It doesn't mean it is a good character. Guts was a good character, even though he was hardcore edgy for awhile, and even though there are shounen powerups in his story.
