is this the best anime ever made?
deep, realistically flawed characters put into situations way more colored than the black and white you normally see in anime. it even handles with a pretty fair degree of maturity some of the common coming-of-age philosophical questions.
i fucking love planetes
>>133944362
It's probably in the top third of anime ever made.
>>133944362
The ending was sorta bleh. Otherwise it was fantastic.
>>133944391
what would you rank above it? out of curiosity. not trying to start a shitfling fest -- your opinion is just as valid as mine, etc.
>>133944437
>bleh
You and I have different definitions of bleh.
>>133944482
yeah i agree. the whole series was amazing imo, but the very last arc, including theproposalscene were amazingly well done, in my opinion. the scene you screencapped in particular as well
>>133944362
It's one of the best.
>>133944527
>The entire last 10 minutes
My heart couldn't take it, it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
>>133944762
>One of
>>133944865
i still get nerd shivers thinking about it. it was beautiful. tanabe's moon scene tugged at the old heartstrings harder than pretty much anything. they really make you love the characters
planetes is not just one of my favorite anime, it's one of my favorite science fiction stories.
I wish there was more hard scifi in anime.
MC and the moralfaggotry annoyed me and I lost interest after the first episode desu
>>133946958
She gets called on being a moralfag nearly every time she does it. I always got a good laugh at it.
Anyone have a good download link for the OST?
>best anime
No, it's not. It's a noteworthy anime, but not even close to best. The Girl That Leapt Through Time, for example, was much better. Also for mature anime try Tokyo Godfathers, also better than this.

>The Girl That Leapt Through Time
I liked it, but no. The ending is pants on head retarded, and even ignoring that, it's not as good. Love me some TG though.

>The Girl That Leapt Through Time
You jokes never cease to amaze me Anon

It's a school night, aren't you supposed to be doing your homework?
>>133947318
Gee Anon, I guess there are lots of kids out to disagree with your superb and incredible opinions tonight!
>>133947110
>The Girl That Shit Through Time
I should have known your Nichijou image was a red flag
Its in my top 3 favorites right now together with FLCL and Hyouge Mono. Its kind of hard to directly compare it to other shows because its realistic science fiction instead of mecha, robots, cyborgs, and action. I kind of want to go re-watch it now.
>>133944527
I actually lost it because I saw it coming. When he started saying "Ke-ke-ke" I thought to myself:
>inb4 Kekkon shiyou
And it really happened.
Damn, that was sweet.
>>133947816
it was jsut so matter-of-fact too. so fucking amazingly well done. they didn't reach for melodrama and just let the characters carry it in such an organic way. hollywood could have taken notes.not to imply that's actually saying very much
>>133944362
so how do you pronounce Planetes
>>133948092
プラネテス
>>133948123

>>133948092
Planet-ees. It's basic greek plural shit.
I liked it because socialists got BTFO by space capitalism.
Despite its many shortcomings its the best shot in terms of freedom.
