ITT: Post hype fights from mango that you were waiting for.
Oops, forgot my picture. This whole arc was awesome.
He got a nerf in chapter 142 when he
removed his armor.
The one fight I was waiting for the second this fucker showed up.
>hurr durr it's a sports manga retard
Fuck off. At this point, it's a fucking fight and you know it.
I was pretty damned hyped for this.
too bad Takahiro is a hack.
Yeah. Back when Bleach used to have some cool moments.
Kiritobi vs. Chimera from Animal planet.
This fight just came out of nowhere and was unprecedentedly awesome.
Secretly wanted him to just fuck everyone up after having enough with them
Same but for this guy.
Was kind of neat in an unexpected way.
Yeah I like a lot of the earlier designs--both characters and bankais--before it just all completely fell off.
And holy shit, my scans are garbage.
I was really worried for En during that entire chapter.
Literally the most hype fight in UC that doesn't involve char or amuro.
This fight was such a dissappointment, over 10 years in the making and it lasted a only couple of chapters. Not to mention how Oda skipped over 20 minutes of the fight and chose to waste 3 fucking chapters on Luffy laying there almost unconscious while being carried around by fodder.
It was awfully one-sided too, the first part was completely dominated by Doffy while the exact opposite happened after he used Gear 4
I still go back to read this sometimes. One of the few fights I like better than the Rob Lucci fight.
i need to re read psyren, it was convoluted but still fun
it really bothers me when a person has to fully explain the concept that a timeline alters, every fucking time they go back and do something though
This nigger gets it.
The entire Faudo arc was hype as fuck.
It really was the best arc in Beelzebub.
Furuichi was amazing.
This deserves mention because of small and insignificant it was on a larger scale, yet still being the hypest thing since black coffee.
OFFICIAL SHIGURUI HYPE POWER RANKINGS
1. Kogan vs Iwako Seigen
2. Fujiki Gennosuke vs. Iwako Seiken 2 (the one after kogan vs. seigen)
3. ushimata gonzaemon vs. Irako Seigen
yes, ending when it did made introducing pepe, shemale and date masamune a waste of time.
last fight made sense and was quite good but not as exciting and satisfying as the last tiem fujiki and seigen dueled.
Mie's suicide was anti-climactic and weird because
1. there was a lot of foreshadowing of Mie being the third "monster" that never paid off or went anywhere
2. Mie seemed totally fine and even jubilant with Fujiki slaying Seigen, it was only when Fujiki complied with the command to behead Seigen's corpse that she went ashen-faced and lost the will to live, which is weird characterisation and doesn't make much sense.
This was such a good page after the son's desperate efforts to escape killer queen and get Yoshikage kira to reveal himself.
I think maybe Araki should take a break and just travel the world for a year or two to recharge his batteries and get some new ideas for really tight stories. Because he's obviously capable of knocking out the park but Jojolion seems a bit stodgy and low density. like butter spread too thin or something. I think he could definitely accomplish more in fewer pages if he was on his A game.
I thought the Enishi fights were more hype, myself.
>don't you lie to me and say this didn't get you hyped the first time seeing it
>last fight made sense and was quite good
>not as exciting and satisfying as the last tiem fujiki and seigen dueled.
That's because the main thing is not about their rivalry anymore. There's no need for huge panels and cool moments, nor for unexpected techniques.
Both Seigen and Gennosuke have already won/lost against each other at some point, both aren't actually driven by anger and hate anymore.
The last chapters are more about the meaning and the purpose of being a samurai, and its nefarious consequences. And about how little and trivial men are compared to the elite of the society.
Seigen/Gennosuke's struggles up to that point, their relationship, the huge tactical thinking that both had to prepare just for that single duel are easily dismissed by idiots whose only merit is being highborn. Tokugawa destroys Gennosuke's pride with just a few words, and he can't do anything but comply.
Mie's a really complex character, reread it if you have time. She kills herself not because of Seigen, but because she realises that Gennosuke actually didn't grow up a single bit. That he's exactly like her father, that if ordered he'd actually allow her to be raped. Gennosuke's speaking of seashells proves to be bullshit compared to what he actually does, when ordered to.
by that point I thought that the rescue sasuke arc had gone on for too long so I didn't care about this fight that much.
>she realises that Gennosuke actually didn't grow up a single bit. That he's exactly like her father, that if ordered he'd actually allow her to be raped.
This is interesting and I hadn't thought of that before. I'd argue that Kogan didn't merely allow things like Gennosuke did , but actually ordered her to be restrained so the male with the strongest seed could breed her.
I find it hard to believe that mie thought Fujiki to be like her father, but I can see that him beheading Seigen's corpse as ordered would so that he lacked backbone and maybe mie wouldn't want to spend her life with such a man.
Still the lack of payoff to saying that "a third monster was born that night" about Mie remains annoying.
I can't remember what fujiki says about seashells.
Gennosuke "A samurai is like a seashell... it protects the family" or something like that... to Irako himself.
Also, he leaves a seashell next to Mie's bed when she's sleeping.
While his feelings and beliefs may be genuine, they immediately turn out to be bullshit the moment someone gives him orders.
Shigurui manages to depict all the warriors as cool/extraordinary individuals, but at the same time as the very reason why that feudal society was so wrong. Gennosuke can be seen as brave, dutiful and so on, especially when you can see his reasoning. But his actions clearly suggest that he's a full blown, numb-minded psychopath.
Mie doesn't want that.
Actually, the very first reason she falls in love with Seigen it's because he ISN'T like the other samurais, because he values indipendence and because he even dares to challenge authority.
Actually, the only true positive message of Shigurui comes right from the mouth of the antagonist. That's one of the reasons why I love this manga.
That was great, but this was the hypest of them all
Me too, the whole En's family is the best thing of the manga. Pic related for best couple
Psyren was real enjoyable, yeah.
Literally everything I have ever read is still not as good as Hokuto no Ken.
I see love for LatBH and Sengoku Youko, what about Spirit Circle?
I believe the official explanation is that it was cancelled due to low numbers in the West. Sucks, eh?
>im-fucking-plying you weren't hype for their final battle
As someone who only kept up with Nurutu out of obligation, this shit drove the middle schooler in me insane regardless of how retarded the events leading up to it were. Can't wait to see it adapted in
>that part where they just start beating the shit out of each other
Nah it was cool though. Was waiting for him to begin fucking shit up all series and that was the first big personality shift.
Where in the actual fuck do you niggers get your scans at?
How can people like all this garbage? Honestly it's like, Hey! Let's give these characters some fucking random ass powers for no reason and no logic or consistency behind them, and a bunch of dumb ass 2deep4u monologues for them to preach, and don't forget their ridiculously flashy and varied character designs, they all look so different and make no sense to the world itself or anything really, jeez so cool and badass.
>Oh jeez why is he so big! We're supposed to be normal humans leaving in a normal world, how is it possible that we had never heard of fucking giants and weird looking people that can destroy entire cities everywhere?
See what I'm getting at? It's lack of consistency and little to no defined rules for proper world building what most of these series lack and it is retarded.
>Oh he just happens to be a giant, no biggie.
>Ok, guess I'll roll with that.
Why would you read action manga for world building? Of course they arent gonna go into super in depth discussions about how everything is supposed to make real world sense because its not fucking real.
The point of these manga is to see cool/crazy shit because people like seeing cool/crazy shit.
So I'm not wrong in calling out these manga for being retarded when it comes to this stuff? But regardless, you ask why, because I'm not the type of person that things because something is a Shonen it's to be expected for it to be shit, standards shouldn't be so low and these action manga have no excuse to be shit and badly written just because they're focused on action; it's not about depth, it's about at least making some fucking sense.
"Calling out" implies that they are trying to get away with something. I'm pretty sure most everybody who makes, and reads these are aware of what the nature of the fiction they are participating in implies. They aren't trying to pass one over you. They are doing exactly what they are setting out to do. Which is making exciting stuff happen.
Like you said, you aren't the type of person for this genre. That's fine, but it doesn't make it shit. If you can recognize that you are the type of person you describe you should also recognize that other people can just at legitimately hold those aspects that you care about to a much smaller intensity then you do.
>They are doing exactly what they are setting out to do. Which is making exciting stuff happen.
Yeah, they're aware that their writing is not as good, doesn't matter if they know what they're doing or not, it's still shit. Are you telling me that you don't think these manga could improve a lot if the world building or some of these examples I gave were "fixed" or worked on? You're saying people actually like these stuff and wouldn't want it to be handled ina more specific and consistent way or do you think these mangaka really are incapable of doing so?
You're completely right about people holding certain things in different intensities, but that doesn't change that these manga are this way, you're basically saying that people are able to tolerate this shit more than me but that only shows how fucking low the standards are that there's even a need to tolerate all of this. Well whatever I just seem to like ranting and being a cunt and think most of these mangaka are hacks because the problems I address could be easily fixed or improved.
Of course they could be improved. Everything can. Its just as the same as everything else, people place different focuses on certain things in sacrifice to others. I think there is plenty of capability for mangaka to grow and change. They are creators after all, most of them are familiar enough with expression to be able to see holes and gaps in themselves. (At least i hope so) The thing is, world building and consistency that can be largely argued to be in the eye of the beholder. People tend to argue about things like this a lot simply because of that varying level of preference. For example, I'm the kind of person who surrenders himself easily to these kinds of holes in manga/anime but i dont have nearly as much tolerance with other media such as books or movies. And i think that is just fine.
For the record, besides the kind of unnecessary quote chain earlier, i think your perspective and argument are perfectly legitimate. One of my best friends is a lot similar to you in the way you describe things like this, and you both have good points. It just largely comes down to different strokes kinda thing.
both of you should STFU the fuck up
Anime delivered, manga not so much.
>tfw I can't find any good street fighting manga
Only thing that comes close is Crows
Let's be honest here, pictures rarely serve a useful purpose in cookbooks. Unless it's a diagram or photo that helps you figure out the process of making something, it just makes a book more unwieldy than it needs to be.
>tfw this got axed and got a rushed ending
>tfw this will never get animated
I liked most of the fights in RuroKen, but I think this one is my favorite, surprisingly.
>It was awfully one-sided too, the first part was completely dominated by Doffy while the exact opposite happened after he used Gear 4
Yeah you keep telling yourself that and please do keep using mangapanda scans.
Kubo's art really fucking improved. Even though it's more /fa/ now, he has great fucking designs, just that there's a lot of same face in the series, not sure if it's on purpose or not. Just wish there were more backgrounds.
It's nice to see how long runners art changes.
I could keep still after this page.
This fight was the only time i felt fear reading manga. Reiner just lost his shit and there was no telling what he's going to do.
Unlike other "crazy characters" from manga, who are mostly sadistic brutes with mood swings or obsessive cunts he really seems like someone mentally ill. There was no logic in his acting.
Well maybe this got me most because i have mentally ill neighbor, and had few scary situations related to him.
The way anime looked was just detail compared to how it butchered the story.
Censorship the anime
