I've gotta say, I'm amazed at the animation quality.

Look at this scene. I can't into making animated .gifs, unfortunately. This is two seconds of someone attatching a bag to his belt. It's animated perfectly, with how to lace goes under the belt and gets the bag pushed through the loop.

They didn't have to do that. Most shows would have zoomed out and just shown his arm moving up and down under the table once or twice with a shuffling sound. Maybe there'd be a closeup of the bag looped onto his belt if you're lucky.

But this, this is the kind of little attention to detail that reinforces the world in increases viewer immersion.

I'm not that much of a fan of the only two sympathetic male characters being girlyboys, one of whom literally doesn't have any genitals.

It seems like it could use a little bit of a male balance in the main cast. Possibly a wisecracking sarcastic person who's long since run out of fucks to give, but who also has enough absurd superpowers that no-one wants to question.

Kind of like the angel loli they've got there.

She hasn't been around for that long, but she hasn't done all that much to make herself seem important in the group makeup.

It was a nice anime but as an anon previously said, it doesn't stand out and people forget about it, even though it was kinda the hidden gem of that season.
That crazy priest made the end really enjoyable, I was a bit disappointed that Maria was not actually raped but that makes Galfa more of a bro.

The "something" being the insane situations that happen, that somehow don't break immersion as much as I think they should.

It's kind of like when I was watching Drawn Together and I saw the shit that went down in that show. Things like the episode where the Disney Princess character uses the Superman Expy by having him cause car accidents on their dates because she has a fetish for them. He figured this out, and caused a car accident involving all the other disney princesses, who are her friends.

Or the time where Captain Hero used his x-ray vision on the female characters in the shower so much that one of them got a cancerous brain tumour that made her act like a very racist 1940s caricature.

It's a good kind of incredulity. The only show that's made me pause and rewind so I could follow it better was Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, and I think I get a pass on that one.

This show was solid, it didn't have a powerful impact and its far from groundbreaking but Maria the Virgin Witch had good animation, that awesome realistic fighting and tiny little details throughout the show that made it great. T'was the hidden gem of its season, definitely.

Mercenaries could become farmers, or bodyguards. They were also small minority compared to peasants who suffered due to war.

I'm talking about Joseph and the owl incubus. Joseph seems like kind of a wimp, and if it weren't for him crossbowing Michael and helping out with Galgo the mercenary guy in battle and when spectating the match, I'd think that he didn't have any balls either.

Priest Guy is only beginning to show himself as a plotter, and probably the closest to a main villain in the series so far, so he's just gone from Good Guy Who Tries Hard To Be Pragmatic, to Guy Who Plots To Use The Witch As A Force Of Nature Like A Political Pawn, who's showing shades of being kind of an ass.

And that's not how I interpreted Bernard's new teaching at all. He says "... the words of a God are not needed at all." That's not denying the existence of God, just God's ability (or inclination) to intervene in the world. Because the assumption that God will fix everything prevents humans from taking action themselves. I think he was a deist, not an atheist.

Bernard isn't really an athiest. He thought that humanity only needed the idea of God, that they had surpassed the point where the actual being was needed. He thought that humanity can think on its own and further its theological principles directly rather than relying on God to impart that knowledge to them. Which, in many ways, is replacing God with humanity and blasphemy.

I just finished episode 8.

I haven't seen any funny shenanigans in a while. The incubus' insecurity over his complete lack of genetalia, and his human form being based on Joseph (who should probably be creeped out by this) hasn't been dealt with, and the familiars' jobs of fucking people to enact military plans hasn't even been mentioned in forever.

The rape plot is also starting up, and I'm not really optimistic for the effect it'll have on the tone of the show.

Maria is 2nd best girl on the show, after the succubus.

And Bernard never climed humanity had surpassed God, just that people needed to be active agents of God's work rather than passively relying on his blessings. He doesn't replace God at all.
