He knows that Gon's crusade agains Pitou isn't good for him, and wants Gon to ask him for help. In the emotional state Gon was in though, there wasn't anything Killua could have done to force Gon to accept his help, and if he had tried to interfere in Gon's fight with Pitou there's no telling what Gon would have done. He's not greedy and ignoring Gon's feelings, he wants Gon to realize that he's putting himself in danger, and causing all of his friends pain.
