Actually this is bugging me now that I'm thinking back on it. Obviously the entire plot of that show was a huge fucking mess, but this one point sticks out to me. Why did those random girl beat the shit out of her? Maybe it was explained and I just don't remember. I just remember it being totally random and expecting it to be explained or referred back to or wrapped up in some way, but it never was. But by that point I was too distracted by the rest of the train wreck to keep track of this one moment.

It's strongly implied that she did pretty mean things because she could with her power, which got her abandoned pretty fast. They probably just wanted revenge. iirc this happened a few eps before she got beat.
