I hope the anime inspires the doujin writers to make more Erina doujins or just more Soma doujins in general.
Decent translations of chapter 114 when?
All this leg fanservice, Erina is the best body.
The manga made me want to a WWE/UFC-style cooking tournament
Iron Chef is nothing. By this, i mean actual WWE-style drama combined with entrance music and commentary from Anthony Bourdain and Jose Andres
"IT'S ME FIERI! IT'S ME FIERI! IT WAS ME ALL ALONG!"
Would you watch it?
They're really moving at a slow pace.
Ep 3 is entrance and the only time we see them in a classroom
Ep 4 is dorm shenanigans, entrance challenge and impromptu duel
Ep 5 is Shokugeki infodump and Nikumi challenge
Something like that I guess.
>Son, listen carefully, the secret to being a great cook is to find a woman you want to devote your cooking to
>scene immediately cuts to Erina
Mangafags, tell me, does Erina win the MCbowl?
>Erina pisses off some rich kids
>They tell their parents
>Their fat old dads plans revenge
>Kidnap Erina and make them their cock sleeve
>Force her to become a cum connoisseur
I got hard typing this.
It probably wouldn't get me hard, but it would leave me with a feeling of justice and morbid satisfaction. Almost as much as what everyone wanted Masamune-kun no Revenge to be about at first.
No one is lose to getting the Somabowl, but Soma slowly earns Erina`s interest and respect. Meatslut and Tadakoro are way ahead though, even Hishoko is starting to get ahead of her Erina-sama.
Why does the school allow Erina to run entrance exams if nobody wants to take the exams she runs?
Tootsuki has no use for cooks that doesn't even have guts and wits to take on Erina.
Tootsuki only allows top-level cooks that has talent, not babbies that are filthy rich who just dreams of being a Tootsuki graduate.
>Tootsuki has no use for cooks that doesn't even have guts and wits to take on Erina.
But we're given to believe that Erina fails everyone who makes decent food because nobody could possibly make decent food.
Nah, Erina was pissed with Soma because he looked down on her and provoked her, Erina`s pride doesn't allow that.
If you are really good and worth entering Tootsuki, Erina will recognize you. Don't think that she's like /a/ that won't agree that an anime is good even if it is.
Nah, anyone can make decent food, and that's the problem. That school doesn't need decent, passing food, it needs elite, top-class, high-caliber, world-class food, that only a real talented cook can make, not decent food you can find everywhere.
If you can't even take on or even try Erina`s challenge, you're not fit for the academy at all. The things that they will make you do is a million times harder than making an egg dish that will make Erina think you're good enough to enter the school.
Erina was pissed because cognitive dissonance. If her highest standards were passed by a pleb with no fine dining experience or pedigree(that she knows of, of course), would her fellow elitists not doubt her judging skills?
She barely cooks in a direct confrontation. She cooks in the training camp to affirm that she does have some bite in her bark, and Souma acknowledges that she's better than him for now. Then she's not allowed to participate in the tourney arc because she's part of the organizers.
no, but she does notice she wants to have friends like everyone else, but a btfo is in the cards, don't worry, it's a cocktease type thing, you know it will happen and she will join the "mere mortals" she wants to be friends with to get her revenge. she is not so much tsundere as she is deluded, clueless and socially inept.
but her getting annoying and booty blasted is fun. She has a cousin, also a fine piece, that will annoy her alot and it will be fun
>Does Erina get BTFO at some point in the manga?
If she were capable of getting blown the fuck out then that would defeat her character's purpose. She's the hidden boss at the end of the secret dungeon that you can only challenge after defeating the final boss. Soma actually needs to get her advice to defeat Shirou Emiya.
Souma is already becoming one of the elites of the school, if he isn't acknowledged as one already. He also only took one test, so someone decided to override her failing grade.
Since Erina failed him, despite him having more than enough talent to be admitted into the school, it'd only look like she was trying to get rid of a possible rival, especially considering how hostile she is to Souma specifically. Everybody already notices it too; Isshiki points her behavior during one of the council's meetings.
Even if that wasn't her intention, her decision to fail him undermines the purpose of the school and bring into question her evaluation method, especially since she chose to change the way the examination was being handled herself.
Not that she should have ever been an examiner in the first place.
...though to be honest, her first interaction with Souma probably bothers me more than it should.
Stop trying to judge Erina so early in the game. Read all the translated chapters and judge after that.
Erina turns out to be likable, and she doesn't get angry all the time. She recognizes and respects you if you have talent. Its just Souma really pissed her off at their first meeting that she becomes really triggered when she hears his name or sees him. Just like how anons are triggered when they see a newfag.
The "strip" in the anime is so lame. His clothes should've been ripped off not like "oh I'll take off my shoulder out of my robe then remove the left side of my robe because I'm cool and this boy's dish is good"
No one knows except her, Hisako, Gramps and Souma. Souma have no reason to tell and can't prove anyway that the fail is ever officially recorded in paperwork, while Hisako and Gramps have even less reason.
The show is fucking hilarious but man the shit is so annoying when they just fail the MC for no reason, We all know he's getting back in thanks to the Grandpa listening in but you could just save an episode with Erina passing him.
Well I don't utterly hate her, but is not only her attitude towards Soma (failing his exam just because he damaged her "pride" was unprofessional), is her "I'm the best and most powerful here and I can do whatever I want" attitude that I really hate.
She really doesn't get angry all the time though.
She doesn't get angry with Arato, when she was reading shoujo manga, when she was speculating in the Autum Elections, when she was talking with Tadokoro when they were trainees in one restaurant. And she is usually calm and smug most of the time except Souma`s name comes up or Alice fucks up her shit.
Did you really pay attention to the manga or you just remember the parts where she spills all of her high-quality pasta?
Even better question. What do they teach in Tootsuki? If one can enter Tootsuki one is already a first class chef. What's the point?
Read the manga.
If they are already A class when they enter the school, Tootsuki polishes them to be SS-class and higher.
Being a Tootsuki graduate means you're a motherfucking monster-human-God hybrid that cooks food for divine beings.
If you graduated in Tootsuki you are already ensured to have a luxurious life because you're one of the best cooks in the universe.
>localizing おう as "oo"
Out of all of the ways to localize おう, this is by far the dumbest.
English "ou" doesn't sound like おう, but at least it uses the equivalent vowels, and it at least starts with the right sound, so there's some rationale behind it.
"O" makes sense, too, since the sound is correct except for not being drawn out.
"Oh" is the best, since it draws out the o slightly, which is exactly what おう does.
English "oo" isn't anything like おう. When you see it, it makes you want to make a sound that doesn't even resemble おう. "Tooty fruity Tootsuki doodie." It also isn't using the equivalent English vowels, like "ou".
Why would anyone even think of using "oo" compared to the alternatives?
Well, it's technically とお, but it's an exception. Anyways, it's still really misleading. You'd need Japanese knowledge to know that you don't pronounce that shit as "oo", and it's the job of a translator to assume that the audience doesn't know shit.
Can Guy Fieri and Paula Deen survive Tootsuki?
I hope the anime is 2 cour, I want to see this animated.
>Only 10th best student of the academy
>still acts like an untouchable goddess knowing that there are 9 people above her.
Why do people like her again? I understand that characters like these get more developement as the series goes by but Erina really doesn't get any of this. The manga is at chapter 113 and she still is the same as in the beginning. On top of this she doesn't get nearly as much screentime as Soma and Megumi. If it's not for her 10/10 body how can people like her?
What the fuck is that garnish? The bacon layer is too thick for the way they cooked it, and the inner bacon is still uncooked. The center potato bit might taste good, but it looks like ass.
That looks about as good as you'd be able to get that dish to look in real life. Gelatin didn't melt like it's supposed to, but that's hardly surprising with a dish like that. You can't heat eggs too much otherwise they'll scorch. Kinda doomed to stay in the realm of fiction.
If we go by what is depicted in the mangam Tootsuki doesn't actually teach its students anything.
What they do is set random tests every day that have three possible results:
1. You already know how to beat the test so you do.
2. You have an epiphany halfway through the test and beat it.
3. You don't know how to beat the test so they expel you.
See: Shinomiya's recette where half the ingredients provided were inferior (no guidance provided), the challenge to make a buffet breakfast with eggs and surprises (no guidance provided), the stagiare placements where all they're told to do is "make a difference" (no guidance provided).
At no point does the school provide any teaching, the students are expected to teach themselves by figuring out cooking from first principles.
Tootsuki is barely a school, it's more like a giant contest and cooking opportunities to make a name in the profession.
In fact I don't think we've even met a real teacher yet, everything seems to be conducted by the Top Ten and the Alumni.
I've made my own as well
Made two actually, used different bacon and slightly different way of marinating the sauce
And here's the cooking in progress pics
That red wine + mirin sauce is pretty awesome.
The actual recipe in the manga says you use the chicken wings in the meal as well, and not toss it away.
It looks really freakin good actually, here's several links
I really like the looped animations bit in the ED for some reason.
Excuse me while I go watch it for the eighth time.
There's no point in depicting every single lecture and demo they attend because that doesn't make for good reading. If this was an LN they could probably throw some infodump lecture shit but there's limited pages to work with in weekly manga and listening in to classes isn't exactly very attention-grabbing.
This. I hate the way she acts like the best in the world and then acts unprofessional and childish. Someone like her shouldnt do a job that requires some degree of objectivity. She should stick to coocking and looking pretty.
What a fucking cunt, abusing her power as a judge to not pass someone, simply because.
There are people out there who actually like this huge cunt?
What are you talking about anon? The food sucked, it felt like being molested by disgusting Soma angel babies.
Grandpa should has disciplined her.
And she should never be given a role as a judge ever again, she is obviously prejudiced.
I need whatever that is on the left right now.
I don't know about the green thing, maybe a pistachio or something? But the cinnamon stick does support the idea that it's something along the lines of hot chocolate. Maybe an unusual chai latte?
Chocolate with chili is very popular. Why not eat pudding with it?
Chili has a very nice aroma once you get over how hot it is.
>he probably can't stand hot food
It's not like you just go down to the store and grab your standard Puddi, put a chili pepper on it and call it a day. Chili tastes really nice with sweet things, as dozens of cultures around the world already know, but you need to make something that will specifically go well with it. Honestly, when I first saw that picture it was pudding that most appealed to me.
By the way, if you're ever somewhere they grow chilies locally, find somewhere that does home made chili pepper jelly. It's the best thing ever.
I think you may be on to something.
Everyone wants to see this animated.
This chapter made me cry a little bit.
Because it works well a titlecard, its actually quite funny.
Are you sure you should be saying that after you can't even comprehend a simple sentence?
Try to read the apostrophe. But probably because you have the intelligence of shit you can't.
>Stop staring at her legs.
Why go through all the trouble of making jelly if it's going to melt anyway? Why not just sprinkle the broth on the rice?
>cute boy leaves
And things of value were lost. Fuck Erina. I honestly don't even remember this entire episode from the manga but the whole room of exam takers running out felt like it wasn't in the manga.
The exact same thing, that anon has brain problems.
He doesn't look like Takumi but it would be interesting to see them both meet there instead of shoe stepping
fun.That was funny.
Coolest scene in the manga so far.
I like how they do the whole "FRIENDSHIP!! Defend your friends!" shounen thing without being overt about it. Souma doesn't talk about how he learns a lot with these people, he doesn't go on a speech about how friendship is the greatest. He just does stuff and it shows that he values his allies.
>Coolest scene in the manga so far.
That's not this
For me this is the best scene in the manga. I can't wait to see this animated.
are the recipes in this show actually real techniques, accurate, and good tasting? the aspic taste in this episode inspired me to make a dish. here's my attempt
Yes, the manga has some extra chapters with some recipes.
Did your cat throw up on those dogs?
>are the recipes in this show actually real techniques, accurate, and good tasting?
Yeah, I tried the karaage wrap recipe from the manga and it was bretty good.
That curry nigger in the manga made a fucking doner kebab in a fucking cooking contest. That's fast food in most countries and isn't that great at all. I even tasted it in Turkey where it has its origin and even if it's made by professional cooks it isn't that big of a deal. Most dishes in this series are overhyped as fuck with all these foodgasms.
She acts like a bitch, but yeah, she has a pretty cute side too. I think she just needs more friends. Megumi being her friend would be a good start.
>she's just the 10th seat in the elite 10, there are literally 9 seats above her.
Those are upperclassmen. A first year like her isn't even supposed to be able to make it into the elite 10, but she did anyway.
Just because you had a shitty kebab from a random ass street stall doesn't mean a good chef can't make the best of it. Curry guy used it to better utilize his crazy spice mix.
>they actually made Grandpa strip
Damn, I had such low hopes for this adaptation but it's damn good so far. Gotten quite a few laughs out of me.
I hope they introduce the others Elite Ten soon. Until now we only know the 10th, the 9th and the 7th.
>Be kinda pissed off at the ending of the tournament arc, felt like an asspull that Souma lost
>Go reread from the beginning
>see pic related
>mfw people having their own specialties was established since the beginning and I forgot
