From what I've seen it's episodic monster attacks the town, organization takes care of the situation. Highlights are the cool monsters' designs and crazy fights.

As far as material, there seems to be 7 volumes out from Dark Horse in the US. I know it's still ongoing.
Based on the prominence of this anime original character >>123289040 in the PVs, speculation suggest that it's probably going to go original story pretty early. They probably want to tell a complete story start to finish instead of ending it with the manga still ongoing.

It's just that with anime when you find out who's doing series composition or primary scriptwriting for a show it's usually some who's worked on at least a few anime before, if not a ton. It can be their first time in that high of a position, but at the very least they have done something like write the script for a single episode of some shows.

With Kekkai Sensen it was the "writer of the Liar Game j-drama who's writing for anime for the first time".

I don't have much hopes for the story, but this show ought to be visually pleasing given the sort of people involved.
