How loyal was that film to the manga? I've heard different opinions
>>
>>121531005
The movie is better. That's what matters.
>>
>>121531005

The only things they have in common are the mimics and time-looping.
>>
>>121531005
>Manga
It's actually based on the original novel.

The movie just used the base concept and maybe one or two characters. They change up the MC completely (probably because they didn't want to cast someone young) and change up the ending as well.

Both endings are pretty bad too.
>>
>>121531451
The manga was shit. The novel left out enough days in the name of convenience but the manga said fuck it and cut out half the content.
>>
A bit misogynistic.
>>
>>121531340
It really isn't
>>

>this cuck
>>
Thanks for reminding me to read the novel.
>>
>>121531569

Why? It had a strong female character who wasn't defined by her sexuality. I mean, it was outright stated she was more badass than the protagonist.
>>
>>121531451

>Both endings are pretty bad too.

You probably didn't even get the movie's ending.
>>
>>121531569
So it's a feminist manga by Japanese standards.
>>
>>121533089
What's there to get? It's fucking stupid and doesn't make any sense, and it's only there because they wanted a happy ending.

The Manga is better because of the ending and because it captures the message of the novel, how he becomes a souless killing maschine, better. Film still is good as long as the action lasts, worth watching when you liked the manga/novel.
>>
>>121533155

It's been some time since I watched it but once your blood comes in contact with the alpha's or omega's you BECOME them. He was the alpha the whole movie before dying at the end and mixing his blood with the omega thus gaining the ability to reset time. When he resets time the real omega doesn't exist anymore, because it's him and every alien dies.

Completely butchered both plot and characters. Generic hollywood action movie with a plot that makes no sense.

The Manga fucked up hard by making Rita look like a pretty little girl.
>>
>>121533492

And the book end was better? They achieved nothing. None of what they did mattered one bit. The MC traded places with Rita to become a hollow poster boy for the war. The battles continue, the looping continues, eventually someone will replace the MC too. That's soo interesting.

The novel was good, the manga was ok, the movie was "shit son you should stop with the antifreeze"
>>
>>121534000
You must be 14 years old for missing the point of the ending completely and wanting a generic, forced, and shitty happy ending where the MC gets the girl, because you can't enjoy a story without self-inserting.
>>
>>121533700
It's sad. They tried so hard, and got so far. But in the end it doesn't even matter.
>>
>>121534096

Do enlighten us what was THE point of that very inspiring "hurr I'm all dead inside but I'll still kill kill kill" -ending?
>>
>>121534236
It's not supposed to be inspiring. Not all endings need to be inspiring. Way to miss the point.
>>
>>121534285

Okay. So the point that I missed was that there was no point. Simply brilliant.

For what it was, I enjoyed the movie, but the manga was leagues better. I've yet to read the original novel, but I preferred the more personal nature of the manga's story.

Also, fuck that ending.

You're so defensive. Is it really so hard for you to grasp the concept of downer endings?

> A story with a bittersweet ending is shit and has got no point

He finally managed to do what he wanted to since the start of the story : escaping the loops. Besides, he added at the end that no mimic will ever be able to kill him now, the same way that happened for Rita.
Still makes me laugh how we go from the unkillable slaughter machine of the original/manga to the movie with a shitty Rita that gets killed almost everytime and almost become a burden at some point. Way to go Tom Cruise.

>>

Hello, Axel!
>>
>>121534440

There are plenty of well done downer endings out there, that still manage to tell a meaningful story and offer a worthwhile experience. The end of AYNIK was not one. It was abrupt, awkward and meaningless.

>You're so defensive

And you're an idiot incapable of a meaningful conversation.
>>
>>121534440
You seems to not understand the difference between reasonable ending that may not have happy outcome, but surely have some conclusion to main story point.
Ending that leads to nowhere and simply made to shock and surprise the audience, make them debating about the outcome.
>>
>>121534617
>The end of AYNIK was not one. It was abrupt, awkward and meaningless.

You don't get it. The ending was about the irony of the outcome. He won. he escaped the loops. But for that to happen, he lost someone he ended up falling in love and should never have met without the loops that made him suffer so much.

But he still accepted Rita's wish who wanted to die, and took his place to save humanity. That was cruel and yet beautiful.
>>
I enjoyed the manga much more.

The movie had no mimic-on-civilian violence on screen, the suits and weapons were fucking retarded... etc
>>
>>121534821
>He won. he escaped the loops

He escaped a single loop. Unlike in the movie, the war doesn't end there. In the next battle, he will loop again until he kills all the enemies on his own, and so on, until he has wiped out all the mimics in the world, or until someone else gets the looping power from an alpha and kills him. He killed the girl he loved and gained nothing. It's a shit job, but someone's gotta do it, that's all.

>>
>>121534999
You should kill yourself.
>>
>>121534821
Would be better if he decided to stay in the loops just to see her all over again.
Now that's a bittersweet ending.
>>
>>121534962
No he won't. The loop only happens when the special mimic gets killed. Anyway, he's so skilled he won't be killed anymore. There is no point in showing off the rest like a classic action story.

And to begin with, he always was a soldier that could die on the battlefield anytime.
>>
>>121535050
>>121534999
And now kiss.
>>
>>121535050
Can't argue with triples.
>>
>>121530866
>Muv-Luv ripoff
>>
>>121535075
And he didn't, accepted reality and moved on. He was mature about his choice. Tough Rita did forced him "a bit". But staying in the loops would be insulting her who has been fighting alone and for humanity for so long.
>>
>>121533700
The problem wont be a problem as long as looping soldiers arent close to eachother since then they cant function as antenna. Also they can still kill robots, it will just take a long time.
>>
>yfw he also made this
>>
>>121535075
the mimics also learned from the loops. Although he was faster in learning. So if he would keep looping eventually the mimics could always win and he was stuck.
>>
>>121531005

The movie was better. It's more like groundhogs day meets Independence D-day, and instead of headaches like the manga he starts getting visions which invests you a bit more in the aliens and brings the whole at war thing together better. The manga doesn't really cover interpersonal relationships at all, even though it's pretty much the best part of the entire concept.

>Movie is better, both have terrible endings.
>>
>>121536045
Movie totally fuck up the craziness related to being trapped in one day over and over again, and even make it comical. The only moment when it gets sad is because he can't save Rita, which also get a terrible nerf since we're at it.
>>
>>121536045
the whole book is about him going from a kid who ran away from home and kind of ended up in the army into becoming a vengeful killing machine. Like halfway where he runs into the hot girl and when she offers him sex he is like "no thanks gotta train". The only time he even cares about Rita is when they talk about how they can break the loop, later they care about eachother because he can find understanding from her.

Also in the book they explicitly tell you whats going on. There are a few chapters where they tell you the origin of the aliens.
