Why does Japan do capeshit so much better than the west?
Many things, cape comics now a days are pretty much fan fiction and the writers are always trying "push new boundaries". Too bad, they aren't very good at execution.
So now we have comics were people running around in spandex is serious business with Rape, abortions, murder and ridiculously depressing shit
I don't get this, has there ever been a case where political correctness has hampered a Marvel/DC comic?
Is this about fanservice? Is this about black Captain America/Spider-man?
I'm just so confused.
But I wouldn't blame everything on the fanbase: the publishers own pretty much everything and are certainly able to veto things they don't want, and push things they want.
I'm not saying a shounen magazine is devoid of powerless or influence, but you can certainly feel the greater creative freedom for yourself.
See what I mean? The chick with frog-related abilities is drawn to resemble a frog.
In a Western capeshit she'll just be yet another supermodel wearing green.
>this slightly homo figure alone manages to make superpowers better than any of the hundreds of capeshit authors that did and do write for mainstream capeshit comics in the west
and she'd certainly only have the flashy and cool abilities
>In a Western capeshit she'll just be yet another supermodel wearing green.
I don't want to come to capeshit defense, but there is a bucktooth girl with squirrel powers.
I think the only defining thing about capeshit from other wise super power works is costume. so it counts.
RisingXRydeen is basically X-men the way it should be. Prove me wrong.
>I don't get this, has there ever been a case where political correctness has hampered a Marvel/DC comic?
Yes, in the 50s and again nowadays. Comics are by far the western media who suffers the most from modern social inforcement, since they are too niche to escape from it
>You do realize otaku are basically the same, right?
no doubt. but marvel and DC can't afford to try new things as much as a mangaka with a 10 people crew. the "need" to make money is not the same
>I don't want to come to capeshit defense, but there is a bucktooth girl with squirrel powers
I don't think it's fair to say Japan outright does capeshit better. One decent manga against a plethora of good storylines. The thing with the west is that for every capeshit jewel there's 100 shit ones.
>hostages of the dreadful capeshit fanbase
I fucking wish that they would make things for their fans.
They haven't made comic books for the fans for a long time now. Now they are made for and by tumblr who don't buy comics.
No. Post-2012, she'd be another teenage girl with no curves or breast, wearing a mix of super-spy clothing with a very masculine shirt and jeans, so they can avoid hurting the feelings of hambeasts
>Do not fucking start this shit, I'd like to see a Hero Academia thread without waifufagging.
keeps the thread alive don't it
Because it's not tied down by the new SJW overlords that run Marvel, DC, Image and Dark Horse, they are the type of people that want to make Link into a girl and Zelda into a fat black woman who don't need no man.
Capeshit can be fun sometimes. Sometimes.
Pic related, the ending to the Avengers trilogy.
I don't think much capeshit came out of other places of the west than the USA.
And the USA had a lot of almost entirely retarded comic artists work in the most popular publications, with little options or room on the market for smaller publications.
No diversity and always the same actual retards publishing sums up western capeshit.
Never mind that the USA has some serious cultural issues around sexuality and the like that are way more severe than in most of the west... that is also an obstacle.
Yes, and then "fanbases" who don't really read it will bitch online so hard it will be impossible to talk about it in an english-speaking place. Those are people who treat characters not as part of the stories, but as "toys" who must always be there and be the same. If a character dies, they don't treat it as part of the plot, but as a toy who "broke", and so they rage hard about that.
there's no such thing.
i'm not even a weeb, i read comics as much as i read manga, but the capeshit genre is the least imaginative and most generic type of comics books there is.
the jewel you refer to is a jewel among capeshit, not graphic literature
The only decades of continuity he has to worry about are his own -- and he resets those often enough.
>not liking genderswapping characters
No, not really. They just critique what they assume is a boys club based on the wikipedia article they read and what their SJW friends say about.
But then again SJW's rarely actually look into the source material of what they bitch about (but if they were informed then they would likely not exist).
No, they just look at random pages and if a girl is doing a sexy pose or has a nice slim sexy body they shower the artists twitter with you are sexist messages, that's why Captain Marvel was made, and why Squirrel Girl looks like an actual Tumblr use and why Young Avengers actually had an issue dedicated to tumblr.
Not really. There's a lot less Japanese capeshit to begin with, so the average isn't anywhere near as low.
Even if you compared manga to comics, manga makes incomparable amounts of cash to comics in the first place. One Piece alone on a good year makes like a third of the profits the capeshit industry makes so there's nothing to dispute.
Superior Japanese Magneto and Brotherhood of Evil Mutants
I don't neccessarily think that's the case, I think there's a serious problem with oversaturation in the Capeshit universes but stories like Coming Home, No man's land and Watchmen prove that there is hope for capeshit (even if all of those were written a while ago now)
>Turn Zelda into a fat black woman who don't need no man
hadly a risk. it's still spider-man, still sold as spider-man which is a guarantee of good initial sales
they still have all the mainstream stuff to back up any potential failure
Nips have a little more respect from themeselves in the matther of writting stories, in the west writters and artist are just there for the money, if you wanna read good west comic stuff jump for graphic novels, short series or things that isn't about super heroes
Well it's tough to say since she's a joke character. Like Saitama, the whole reason she exists is to be unbeatable and presenting her with a threat she couldn't handle would ruin the joke. Though a logical argument could be made that Squirrel Girl beating Demonbane wouldn't even be funny in the first place, so her joke-based powers have no effect.
I'm surprised the SJWs haven't latched on to BnHA yet.
It's almost like rule 34, except less about porn and more about fat black women
Capeshit in the west died when Superman died for the first time and returned two issues later. It set a standard that it's okay to keep the status quo even if it makes for a stagnant story as long as there is a profit to be made even if it means making death itself obsolete.
Also what can the west do better than Japan? Not trying to be a weeb but nothing comes to mind
>capeshit writer/artist does a run on comic
>everyone likes this
>for no reason, writer/artist moves on and is replaced by by a writer who reboots the storyline/forgets certain plots and/or the artist is replaced by some clearly inferior artist.
While I have seen some of this happening in manga, it's just really rare in comparison.
Maybe not a risk economically but then you slap the Marvel logo on anything and it will sell. The point I was trying to make is that the writers of some capeshit aren't afraid to alienate fans to write a good story.
I'll dig any other type of western comic any day of the week. Fucking Donald Duck comics? Hell yeah. But I tried multiple times to get into capes and it's just fucking impossible for me.
They just aren't interesting at all. I'm not sure what it is about them.
Black Cap is the Falcon who's taken up the mantle like Bucky did, Funny enough this is not even the first black Captain America
Black Spider-man is the current Spider-man of the essentially obsolete Ultimates universe.
To put things into perspective, Marvel anime simply suck.
Not even anime studios given unusual (for capeshit writers) liberties with the characters can make something good come out of them.
Hellboy is pretty much like the eastern tradition, it's been written and draw almost all the time by the same guy and team since it was created, holds a linear timeline and there is no multiverse crap
The fact that there is still a disparity of quality is hilarious.
Superior Japanese phallic energy beam attack
I honestly hope every shounen ever will feature something that will cause immense anal devastation to "Western fans", ideally of the magnitude (just the magnitude, not necessarily the nature) of what happened to the NaruSaku shippers.
I for one care, if delicious tears can be harvested.
>Yes because incest and lolis dramatically improves the quality of any particular thing.
sometimes it does
>Also what can the west do better than Japan? Not trying to be a weeb but nothing comes to mind
Just look at "recommendations list".
Comic books have more free even now. Who draws manga without school setting now except Urasawa?
That's Squirrel Girl now? What the fuck happened?
>Also what can the west do better than Japan?
I've actually thought about this a lot.
There are certain genres that are common in Manga and Anime that just can't be pulled off with most western comic industries.
It's not like books where people expect to see varying kinds of stories, people are generally tailored to believe the only type of comics out there are cape comics, and if you want anything else you should go foreign.
As far as I know there's no western moe, no western SoL that actually fits the definition of "SoL", no school life or anything, though that only extends to America, I'm sure Europe has better luck with that.
Inversely, there aren't really any genre done in the west that can't be done just as good or better in Japan. I mean, most west things get a Japanese adaption anyway, so they're pretty much on-par and above.
So when is the mangaka going to reference dark age?
I'm just glad, that in all of this, they will never truly win. Japan will continue to make whatever they want.
American animation was already dead for the most part, so while it's sad, nothing of value was really lost.
You really can't even understand what people say to you, can you? Is that why even /co/mbler whales got rid of you? Is that why you come to a board with a subject you don't know shit about?
the west can't hold nip comedy like that, here comics and cartoons are a childs thing, and parents block anything that seems dangerous, thats one of the reasons i think they cancelled digimon fusion
Cause SJW are conquering the west, Japan is the only stronghold of entertainment they can't crack.
