1. As far as actual phsical media?

Manga: 15 full series, a fuckton of other series slowly being completed.

Anime: 5 complete series (3 DVD/BD combo), yet another fuckton of incomplete series.

Several hundred gigs of anime digitally.

2. 3 VHS, 26 individual DVDs, 3 DVD/BD box sets.

3. Directly on my computer, or on my 1 tb external. Usually delete series after I watch them unless they're fucking amazing.

They are store displays, if you bought one new it'd cost anywhere from 1200-1600 bucks each. I got them cheap from an office that was tearing down their old display room.
>>
>>120736842
It's not about the likelihood of rewatching, it's about knowing that you could if you wanted to. The discs are basically just souvenirs/mementos that you collect for collection's sake.
>>
>>120737524
I love the fish tank, that's great.
>>
>>120731871
All of those boxes are factory sealed. The person never even watched those, he just torrented it and bought the sets so they'd look nice in the shelf.

Media is meant to be played/watched. Those discs will never know love.
>>
I have 50-55 complete series on DVD
I have 15-20 complete series on BD

I keep fansubs lying around on my PC hard disk until I can get a physical copy. Sometimes I'll write hardsubs to a DVD and watch them on my PS3.
>>
>>120731871
I have the two Kill Bill volumes on DVD and Kanye West's Graduation on CD do those count as anime?
>>
Old fag 90s hoarder here.

Every series from every season since 1999. To be fair not every series got picked up by a sub group back then but if it did I have it archived somewhere.

I only keep the last 3-4 years of broadcast anime on the media server. The 1999 to 2002 stuff is mostly in dvd binders. the really old stuff is on cd.

I also have some vhs fan subs from the era where people would rip laser discs and mail you a tape Copy.

Unrelated to this I also bought the entire vhs library of a local anime store that went out of business in 2000. Sadly they are mostly dubs but at the time most customers preferred dub.
>>
>>120738405
>Every series from every season since 1999
Doubtful. Do you have every episode of the New Doraemon or Nintama Rantarou?
Or do you mean every anime that western fandom gave two shits about.
>>
>>120738509

Most of those were not fansubbed. Most kids shows were skipped due to low interest among subbers at the ime.

That's peanuts.

400 tanks.
50ish series on DVD.
1 BD.

The play-protection on BDs hasn't been properly broken yet, so I haven't gotten into buying them.

Kinda wish Bookdepository did anime DVDs, I miss Axelmusic who let me buy DVDs without forking out on customs+VAT.

Here's the majority of my DVD/BD collection. I still have some stuff at my parents' house, but not more than 20 or 30 misc. DVDs. I have a bunch of figures too, but they're all boxed up at my parents' house at the moment. They're mostly mechs like Mazinger and Getter though.

>>120737524
I love those Lupin figs. I have the RAH Lupin III from A Woman Called Fujiko Mine. It's a cool, but overpriced figure. How much did those run you?
>>
>>120739465
Do want. Is your oldfag stuff diskotech releases?
>>
>>120738926
>It's over the course of 20 years or so.

But most of the stuff you have on display is 2007 or newer. The queen's blade megahouse figures are "old" by pre-painted figure standards (which is a relatively new industry, as just a few years earlier it was virtually all GKs and cheap capsule mini-figures).
>>
>>120739505

They are actually prize figures, despite its huge size and detail, and out of print.
I only paid about 2000-3000 yen each, about 1/10th of what the RAH ones cost.

Pretty nice quality for being prize figures.
The series has several different sets including Cagliostro and 1st series, but I went with 2nd series which I was most familiar with and nostalgia.
>>
>>120739530
That's true about figs. I mean, my stuff in general.
Quite a bit of those manga you see and DVDs were gathered post 2000.
>>
>>120739568
Oh nice. I'll have to look into those. I love me some Lupin.
>>
>>120739600

Ahh I see. I was only responding to the pic about the figures in the display cabinet here >>120737524

I didn't realize you posted manga earlier in the thread. That makes sense now.
>>
>>120739568
I'll be that faggot

Why?

Do you buy figs just to support the industry or do you actually feel something when looking at them? I feel like people defending figs are doing it either out of buyer's remorse or addiction to collecting.

Sure, there are many ways to waste money, but they usually involve direct enjoyment. Where's the enjoyment in owning figs?
>>
>>120731871
>buying anime.

holy shit op.
>>
>>120739747
That would be like asking why people buy paintings, why people buy expensive frames for displaying family photos, or why people enjoy collecting anything.

You're not a collector, so I don't think I can explain why we feel joy in collecting and displaying.

I used to have a pretty big one, and still own a ton of old Dreamcast, Saturn, Playstation games.. but not as many in the recent years.
Getting used to Steam pretty much killed my video game collection.

I still buy eroge once a while, but that's about it.
There's few games I bought in physical form though, the most recent one being Stronghold Crusader classics. I find myself installing and playing the heck out of them every few years, and having a physical disc was just convenient. Not to mention wanting to have one on my shelf.
