Did /a/ like this? I wasn't really fond of the fantasy direction it took halfway through and the ending episodes were cheesy as fuck. The first half was really good and then it dropped it all for some half-assed fascist plot and magical blondes.
Don't stare, Kodai. Don't stare at ass. Keep looking straight. Come on. You can do it, Kodai. Endure the pain.
But it haves a consistent logic dude
Yes, is fantasy and all, but it has his own logic and sense within the fictitious universe it is presented.
Also, like the other anon said, it's a remake of a 40 year old classic and very heart warming series for the Japanese.
It has to be cheesy.
They were constrained by the original story. All things considered, I liked how they smoothed out the coarser elements with foreshadowing.
Cheesy? Of course it is, it's based on 70s sci fi.
It wasn't that bad. If you want poorly handled look at the original season. She "died" and came back to life with literally no explanation. At least this one had some silly magic explanation to it.
Fair enough. Then I watched this show expecting the wrong things apparently. Still, I couldn't help but notice how the show went the route of Battlestar Galactica, suspenseful first half and a more fantasy and spread-out second half. I still liked the show but I can't help but be dissapointed that it didn't retain the style of the first half.
I'd say sticking to the original was what actually made it work as a remake. You can tell from watching 2199 is from a different era despite some obvious changes like more female characters, etc.
>mfw OP songs in both versions
>they got the same performer to re-record the song for 2199
Can't dispute those numbers.
I forgot how seriously the show takes itself. Yeah, there are bitches running around in skintight jumpsuits, but it's not like anyone gets flustered about it or anything. It's simply their uniform.
Don't forget the best submarine captain ever.
