It's horrible aside from Selvaria's tits, and even those couldn't save it.

It wasn't released in the US, VC3 is everything good about the other and more, the only problem is that is for the PSP and not PS3.

As for the anime it was just a short 2 episode OVA. It didn't have any major backing so the animation is great but it is still VC. VC3 is a lot darker than VC and VC2, the 422 are a penal sqaud that act like special forces and get screwed over a lot. VC3 also unites the other two series with a whole bunch of cameos by the 7th squad, Class G makes cameos but that is game only.

Are you talking about the game? Because plenty of other games have done that. Dragon Quest VIII is arguably the best looking game on PS2 because is successfully broke the 'uncanney valley' of anime graphics in a 3D world. Valkyria Chronicles also did it successfully. But it did come out 5 years later on a stronger system.

But yes, in the end, the anime failed to emulate it.

I asked the same question a while back, and someone told me to form my own opinion, so I watched it and it was a 6. 6 being Kill la Kill tier and 7 being Chaika tier. If it was on the PS3, it would have been even better. It showed its limitations as a PSP game by having smaller levels and often repeated levels as well. But otherwise, in terms of gameplay mechanics, it's the best.

This is actually alright compared to Lancer, since the upgraded class gets big ass robes. You don't get that luxury to start with. And for reference, everyone's heads are way smaller, just check the VC wiki they have galleries for each character.

I only ever reset a mission when someone died because in this sort of game I feel terrible when that happens. It feels like they put their trust in you to command them and you fucked up and got them killed.

The Jaegar one? I just wasted a lot of CP using the Edelweiss doing hit and runs along with Marina/Largo sniping then hiding behind walls. I slowly advanced with Alicia and Aisha to the north part of the map going west.

The biggest danger for me that time was getting the guys in the alley and then finding a fucking tank as I ran out instant gibbing my shock trooper, but since it was Rosie I didn't lose anyone that time. Anyone else and they were dead.

I basically didn't fuck with Jaeger at all until I cleared the entire map and had an engineer with Edelweiss the whole time. And either the AI was stupid or I was lucky but Jaeger wastes a lot of CP smoking shit and almost half the time it ends up doing him no good even during the early stages because I simply choose to attack somewhere else then and force him to move his units out of the smoke.

Later on when I started capturing bases, he still does the same places and at best he puts my tank to 50% or lower, so I repair.

Once everything was cleared, I just retreated most of my guys and brought in a ton of lancers and one of them was gonna get near his ass.

I got a D on that mission or something.

Nah it's actually really easy even if you don't block her. I lucked out on it unintentionally but here's how I managed A-rank on my first try:

>Start normally a bit more engineers and lancers than normal
>Op scouts take out the shitters at the top because op scouts
>Break down the walls with your tank and repair it if you can't find a way to hide it, I didn't and I ended up running Edelweiss ahead of the Batomys and straight to the last base camp because holy shit Batomys hurts.
>Take out the left reactor the first time Max blows up a wall while you run engineers/scouts/lancers to the trench past the 2nd base camp; basically the right side of where the Batomys is when it makes it's final stretch towards your final base camp
>Proceed as normal and Batomys will provide you cover because Selvaria runs to the left side of Batomys while your characters are all on the right

Basically once Selvaria appears, she b-lines to the left of the Batomys, and if you position the units right she has nowhere to shoot at you for a long time. Someone might get downed, but she won't have time to perma-kill them, and since you have 3-4 characters along that area saving each other when you can just ragnaid after you reach the downed unit.

Also, by breaking down all the walls after you've brought Edelweiss past them, you force the Batomys to fire a lot faster so you can get all 3 reactors down before Max even gets close to last camp.

I think it took a more realistic approach to the use of the Valkyrur's power, and when I say realistic, I mean would most probably happen given certain high-up's in the military. Ironically I find VC2 to be a lot better than VC1 in this regard, simply due to having a lot more base camps to switch out characters/baton pass, and the size of the maps allowing other classes than scout to be useful.

VC1 unless it's something like the rescue Cordelia mission, there was almost no point in regularly using anything other than scouts/tank. Lancers/Eng/Snipers/Shocks were all very situational.

Personally I think stand by is an iffy mechanic. On one hand, it's great for the PSP due to the limitations, and granted it makes it easier to leap frog thus utilizing slow units in more situations.

But it basically splits classes into campers and chargers. Scouts/Engies/Shocks charge while Snipers/AT just clear shit around camp 99% of the time. The only class with remote consistency in not favoring one over the other is Lancer, and that's only due to the option of charging past a tank and one shotting them.

For a game like VC1, not being able to teleport units in would have changed it drastically. For better or worse, I cannot say, but I can't help but feel there might have been a way to utilize ap in a more fun manner. A way that makes you contemplate whether or not it's worth running that sniper all the damn way to a certain nest or something instead of it always being an obvious yes/no decision.

I mean when the #1 way to flank an enemy is to appear behind them through a captured flag on another map, you know the game has zero formation value.

I used my gunners for camping, the way I did it was if I knew there was an enemy with high armor and high attack, I would switch snipers with gunners and I would space them out so that their fire pattern overlapped. I had more kills with snipers than any other class, due to all the upgrades and the priority for leveling up I gave them.

VC was the last one I played I find it a little harder due to the gameplay differences from VC2 and VC3. I don't like the fact that I have to wait for reinforcements

The VC3 patch failed for me. I've isolated the issue to being that jpcsp v0.6 (used by the patch) cannot play VC3 on my PC for an unknown reason.

v0.7 plays the ISO fine on my PC but the patch cannot use it, seems like the patch's commands for 0.6 are not compatible.

There's just so much I can say about him. He leaves his men to die, and is the only survivor of the Khloden assault, he brings people to his office just to say they won't be needed, he intentionally tried to get a national hero killed to protect his own fame, the bloody list just goes on, and on for me. Unfortunately, the anime made no mention of how he used chemical weapons during the defense of Ghirlandio. Plus his death just wasn't as satisfying as it was in the game.
