Is Eva really the only truly great work of anime?
madoka is pseudointellectual while eva is actually intellectual
>cinema and film as separate categories
Yotsubato caused moot to create 4chan. After reading it moot felt enlightenment and created the website that has caused terror all over the world and exploded many vans and killed many people like that one guy for that time 4chan was not fool of moralfags.
>game of thrones
>tree of life
It's good only if it's old?
I have read all of these books and they are not big shit. Go back to whatever shithole you came from, I have seen better anime than fucking don quixote and I have a major in literature.
Fun and solid series, but they're hardly works of art.
If I had to nominate something it'd be something with a highly unorthodox story or artsytle.
Maybe something like angels egg or La maison en petit cubes>>119580677
>Why do people like the Great Gatsby so much?
Timeless piece of perfectly written literature
Lupin the third: Castle of Calistro
Vampire Hunter D
Night On The Galactic RailRoad
Legend of Lemnear
Legend of Galactic Heroes
The best anime has always been OVA's and movies. They tend to have much higher budget and thus much better animation. Their target audience isn't a bunch of Otaku so they can't be successful just be having some cute girls and video game references thus the writing also tends to be better.
TV anime is literally the lowest end of the anime spectrum. OVAs in their 80s and 90s golden day and movies from all decades consistently put out great works out.
Even if you want to say that Eva is the greatest TV anime ever produced, it's still not relevant because the movie version of Eva was better. Same with Madoka, the movie version is better. Literally the only TV anime ever made that can compete with the best OVAs and movies was Utena.
One of my favorite films is actually the Silver Linings Playbook, which was released a few years back with Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.
Really great film. Hits home if you've ever had anger issues. Who am I talking to?
>while eva is actually intellectual
Eva is just characters refusing to work though unprocessed trauma leading to dysfunctional relationships all while caked under religious symbolism and bleeding robots.
I hope you mean intellectual as empty pompous story elements.
I'd rather watch an anime about quantitative easing and government spending destroying the economy and people futures.
Agreed. That's the honest truth right there, even though we don't always care to admit it. Ghibli? That's art. Sorry, it just is. Get over it. LoGH? Same deal. Incredible scope and ambition executed to perfection = art.
>I'd rather watch an anime about quantitative easing and government spending destroying the economy and people futures.
It's a shame that in the end it was only about muh
>I have seen better anime than fucking don quixote
>tfw no anime adaptation of the wacky adventures of Don and Sancho, bros for life
I must believe
Do you truly believe that Ghibli is better than the Takahata series trio: Anne, Heidi and Marco?
Utena is the best TV anime but I'd argue that it's better than all of those OVAs and movies too.
