So Uran wrote this in one of his works.

Is this how they really think?

Don't they have other sources of income?
>>
>>119121883
Is this the same Uran as the guy who does Mujaki no Rakuen?

Holy shit, this guy sounds just as prejudiced as he claims the evil censors are.

That's exactly what those terms mean, though.

You'd be that hysterical if you were in his shoes, especially if you find out that your source of income and livelihood is being constricted like that and you can't draw as freely anymore.
>>
they want people to stop jerking to chinese cartoons and go fuck and have some kids to save the economy

Drawing manga is a full-time job, and it doesn't pay very well.
What assets are you talking about?

The people I dislike the most are those people who get so hurt that their works get scanned/posted elsewhere that they stop drawing. In the first place, by making doujins they're already technically infringing copyright, it's just a good think that Japanese copyright holders are more accepting of fanart compared to Western people. Next, the fact that they uploaded their works into the internet (in the case of Pixiv images, for example), means they want their work to be seen. I can understand them getting mad because their work is posted elsewhere without their permission, but the fact that they themselves were making art without permission and that some of them even cease making doujins when their work is inappropriately distributed keeps leaving a sour taste in my mouth. Making "unauthorized" fan art in the first place, and then getting mad when these are distributed in a way the artist doesn't want it, feels like hypocrisy to me.
>>
>I ask you not upload it on the net.
I love that whoever uploaded the raws just pretty much said screw you to that.
I am sure he knew it would be uploaded, if you make anything that can be digitally distributed it will be uploaded.

>>119122236
>prejudiced
This law is centuries old and is used whenever the government pleases - they have the legal right to pick and choose when to apply it - anyone who watch, sells, buys and owns obscene goods which doesn't just mean pornography can be fined and have a jail sentence, a criminal record makes things extremely difficult.

Women who post images of themselves naked on the internet uncensored have had their houses broken into and taken into police custody. They have a department watching and checking that no Japanese person is distributing uncensored nudes of themselves online
>>
>>119122590
>doujin
I don't know the mangaka in the OP image. But from reading the text I was under the impression they had a proper contract with a regular magazine.
>>
>>119122419

If it doesn't pay very well, then he must have other sources of income.

That would be like expecting DC comic writers to only write about that one character & nothing else and expect that to sustain a rich lifestyle.
>>
>>119122590
It isn't about how it is distributed, it is the fact that they cost money to print, cost time to make and costs in terms of materials.
I don't see how getting upset when you don't sell as enough that it really covers your costs and your doujin then immediately is popular online with loads of downloads all for free.
People want your work but don't pay for it.
>>
>>119122419
Pair up with Ken Akamatsu and distribute manga through his site

They usually do have part-time jobs, quite a number of mangaka have part-time jobs.

>>119122687
Doujin artist can both produce doujinshi and have contracts with a number of magazines.
>>
>>119122791
Yeah, but my point also applied to Pixiv art, which doesn't usually have printing costs involved.
>>
>>119122096
Now I wish I had downloaded one of those shitty black and white "This is Bait" pics.

Uran pretty much draws loli porn for whatever reason published in normal magazines.

That said agreed, that the censorship laws and crack down on such things and self censorship are stupid.

For pretty much no good reason lot of good manga had to suffer selectively, while lot of other brissant material is still published no problem.

I was surprised Oreimo actually ended as it did, since Incest is pretty much the biggest taboo with that law and was cracked down upon hardest.
>>
>>119122096

Not all loli is child porn, but some of it is.

If the pedo faggots who draw realistic child rape would make it less detailed and more cartoon-y the outcry would of never happened in the first place.

>>119121883
>yet hasn't the rate of sex crimes dropped?
God, what a fucking retard. You can't just decide a correlation like that. Maybe the rate of sex crimes would have dropped even further if it weren't for ero manga.
>>
>Literally taking the lifebread out of a man's mouth by censoring his upcoming work

Next you'll ask why coal miners don't just get another job when they close down the mine because the company can get cheaper labour in china.
>>
>>119122632
>they have the legal right to pick and choose when to apply it
I don't think that's true. I mean, they do pick and choose when to apply it, but legally speaking they should be under the obligation of always applying it.
>>
>Don't they have other sources of income?

Right, because mangaka in Japan totally draw as a side hobby while working as salarymen all day
>>
>>119123335
I think I remember a few studies about that and availability of porn actually does seem to lower sex crimes.

It is if he sells them independently. He just needs to have then made by a third party.

If you bothered to read the rant you'd have seen that it's not about loli censorship but about genitals censorship and more broadly about the Japanese that forbids the depiction of anything sexually arousing.

>>119123359
It's their own fault for not making a wider portfolio.
>>
>>119123324

That's not how it works anon, the point you draw the line is only for you no one stands with you, if you draw the line on any manufactured work you stand against all of it.
>>
>>119123366
No quite, they phrase it under the obligation of "self-policing" and get rid of their responsibility but can choose whenever they want to enforce it from their own perspective. They aren't under the obligation to always enforce it.

It was a really witty way for them to go "but its not challenging the freedom of speech! its not a harsh law! We will let you enforce it" so people weren't as wary against the bill and so that it looked less harsh than it is and all they need to do is over time crack it up.
A lot of /a/nons have been saying its due to the olympics but I think it more likely due to stronger american diplomatic ties, increasing international relations have been having a bad effect on Japan.

Like that international trading standard thing that was forced, it so strongly favours big business that smaller businesses are suffering from it, Japan is one of those countries with a lot of little businesses all over the country and American just came in and told them in no uncertain terms that they need to sign that trade bill.
>>
>>119123402
Without citing those studies it's an empty statement though.

Japan's history is a history of domestic cultural values giving way to western values. This is just another nail in the coffin of the good old honoraburu yamato damashii.
>>
>>119123753
>they phrase it under the obligation of "self-policing" and get rid of their responsibility but can choose whenever they want to enforce it from their own perspective.
That's kinda how censorship works in China. Put fear into everyone and they will censor themselves or providers and platforms will censor their users so the government won't come down on them.

All you have to do is make an example of somebody often enough to keep people worried and censoring themselves and it does not look as much like government censorship.

Government caused chilling effects like this are really blatant censorship and don't ever let them convince you otherwise.

The author of OreImo was well aware. IIRC he stated back when the final volume came out, that "this is as happy an ending as I can give Kirino", the implication being he'd probably have written something a bit more risque, if he didn't have to tiptoe around the law that was coming into effect right around that time.

Doesn't help that Japanese officials have since tried to tighten the law further, to white was the public image of Japan (whether it needs it or not) with the upcoming Olympic games. The entire h- and ecchie-scene in Japan has become shittier thanks to the Tokyo laws spearheaded by Ishihara back then, be it themes in novels or the amount of censoring in regular h-material.
>>
>>119129901
Whoops, meant to type "to whitewash the public image".
>>
This makes me wish ecchi manga makes a huge comeback after the Olympics.
>>
>>119129901
I don't understand how they think putting mosaics on their porn is supposed to make them appear more wholesome to the world when NO OTHER COUNTRY DOES IT.
