how is this not pandering?
i just have a hard time taking this show seriously when every other shot makes me want to jerk off
Sure there was loads of fanservice, but what was so cool about the show was that it actually made the fanservice completely central to the plot. So its not meaningless pandering, its meaningful, self aware pandering.
I want to marry Lady Satsuki.
That's just silly, that would imply anything erotic is pandering and therefore annoying by its very nature, did it never occured to you that maybe the people who create this kind of anime or manga do it because they like it?
There's nothing wrong with perversion or pandering in the first place, that's not the question. The problem here is the insinuation that anything erotic is necessarilly pandering.
it is pandering because only virgin aspies watch anime so their only sexual experiences in life are through ecchi scenes and hypersexual imagery. i dont watch much anime but i started watching this show because apparently it's one of the highest quality things japan has put out in a decade but all i see is a teenage boy's sexual fantasies being played out.
that's what all you otaku faggots tell me
after watching the first couple episodes i knew they were wrong though
just gonna keep on watching it to add to my wealth of anime knowledge for multicultural purposes
Your criticism is in agreement with most of the thread and then you switch to insults to people who would have never recommended it to you in the first. You're either baiting or very emotional.
The problem wasn't pandering the problem was the shit pacing in the second half and Nudist Beach being turned into a joke rather than the serious threat they appeared to be in the first half. Ryuuko was also an unlikable protagonist who was so overpowered that the rest of the cast became useless bystanders. The ending also felt forced rather than a natural increase in scale.
Nui Harime was the only character that I genuinely enjoyed seeing on screen because she was the wild card that made interesting things happen in a rather dull plot.
Personally, the height of the series was EP12 and everything afterwards went down hill.
>>it's bait because i am so sheltered to the point where i can't even conceive of anyone actually being a feminist
I see feminists everyday, but that doesn't make it any less pathetic for you to be one.
I wouldn't consider something like feminism normal.
No that's pretty much what late night TV anime is and what people judge to be high quality Japanese things.....Surprise!
Also a shit ton of this shows critical acclaim comes from the advertising and hyping work Aniplex put into it's promotion same as most of their original titles that we're supposed to take as awesome but are really just utterly mediocre pandering schlock. Even though at the end of the day 99% of anime is all the same pandering shit it's that sort of keen eye for marketing that has really taken off with the internet age and the gullible masses who eat it up and love them reveling in some hype with other large groups of almost people that separate the "masterpieces" from the "trainwrecks" and "shit" at the end of the day. Also Gen Urobuchi and Hiroyuki Sawano, if you're show has either of those people it means it's "epic" and Teh Hype and on the way to becoming a treasured smash hit.
do you support gender quality? if yes, you are a feminist.
if you don't support gender equality, then you're a misogynist.
porn isn't misogynistic. it's actually empowering. but that's because they are women who are in control of their bodies. women like sasha grey and stoya realize this and talk about it all the time, and it actually has some intellectual merits. HOWEVER, kill la kill is made and drawn by men. it's not the same at all.
THIS is not empowering.
you missed the train a year ago friend, tough luck.
Jesus fuck, go back to /co/mblr.
You're whistling into the wind here. You're trying to convince the most misogynist board on 4chan that something is misogynist, and even if you did, they would like the fact that it is. Enjoy your ban when the mods wake up, hope it's global.
Why are you still here? Nobody agrees with you, nobody wants you here, and you just keep fucking whining. Fucking leave.
You're probably that one fucking annoying kid that everybody hated in grade school.
Art thou triggerethed, for your bum is shiny red from the whipping?
There is no gender equality and never will be because men and women are inherently different. Different selective pressures=different evolutionary outcomes. It's fucking science. Women average 5 IQ points less than men and are outnumbered 20 to 1 in IQ's over 145. If women were truly equal to men, they never would have been able to be oppressed by them, and yet nearly every historical society has been patriarchal.
Because like Satsuki said herself. It's only a means to and end and if you only focus on the fanservice and sex stuff than it's you who has the problem
>You're trying to convince the most misogynist board on 4chan that something is misogynist
>and even if you did, they would like the fact that it is.
This anon seems to have just about hit the nail on the head.
I have no problem expressing feelings of misogyny towards fictional characters. Provided I don't bring those into my day to day life and get my ass sued, or put in jail, then All is Right With the World, and their ain't shit people are gonna do or say that will change that.
I'm surprised Western society still hasn't come to accept that genders aren't equal. I mean even Japan has realized that and people complain about Japan's inability to think for themselves.
This is probably not the place for this thought, but hell:
the biggest reason for misogyny I've theorised is caused by females. Everyone strives towards a norm. An idea of "normal". We look at people and say "that's not normal" based on the cultural idea of normal. We then adapt ourselves to fit in. A western girl in a muslim country would be called out for not being normal, it would be expected that she dress appropriately by the people there. Similarly, within western society, women propogate the idea of a normal woman. They set a minimum normal, and they sell products to enhance that. I'm talking cosmetics, make up, skin care, fashion. Yep, its great that we have the freedom to buy and use these things, but its largely women that use and consume those, and so set the culture norm. For a men's perspective, we have a greater deal of flexibility, most men wouldn't care so much about what we wear, or how we shave. Some people are expected to wear a certain kind of clothing to school or work, because that's normal. If you're not normal you'd get called out.
Layer 1: socially perpuated idea of norm enforced by peer groups
Layer 2: winners take all, influencing the idea of norm and ideals
Layer 3: a minority of rich advertisers actively oppressing people, by swaying public opinion, and focusing on ideals and negatives
tl;dr women hold themselves back, by setting higher standards for themselves then men, by being critical of women who step away from the norm, reinforcing their position.
Free your female friends from their oppression! If they feel oppressed, help them feel positive about themselves. Give them choices and opportunities. Be supportive. Show them what they're capable of by leaving their own gender out of the equation.
Not that I really feel a need to defend women online, or on /a/ nonetheless.
But the way you present your data kind of bothers me considering the point you are making.
I am not going to deny your data. I am just going to point out that men dominates the opposite end of the spectrum as well. While women dominate the centre.
all this shit right here
It is. It's blatant sexiness.
Her ass is magnificent.
This is massive win.
These guys made Panty and Stocking. It shows through.
I like my anime (and women) to be both sexy and soulful.
I have officially entered this thread.
We need more pictures of DAT ASS / Satsuki.
Like, literally my whole folder.
You have bad taste, you fucking... sir. Sir you have bad taste sir.
Great stuff thanks Anon!
Pictures cause a thousand ideas to be communicated directly into our consciousness.
>getting boners while watching anime
Is Satsuki Asian?
I'm assuming they're both Asian.
Seeing as this was made by Asians. In Asia.
Yes, how else would they procreate?
Ok, so are you saying you fuck the couch or are you saying that you no longer get boners while watching anime?
Cause thinking about someone fucking a couch while watching Kill la Kill is pretty funny.
Just finished watching this new anime and to be honest its just the breath of fresh air all anime lovers need after sitting and endlessly waiting for all of the big animes like Naruto and one piece etc to catch up to the manga. It's a short yet jam packed with many many great fight scenes that will make you remember the love of watching rediculous and uncomrehendable fights and in my opinion it should be up there with the likes of death note, code geass and other widely loved animes simply because its just the right mix of great fights, serious plot, humour and just pain wierdness! I recomend watching it! (Sorry for any spelling errors)
>fuck the couch
The fuck are you talking about.
her name is fucking satsuki. you do the math
Nice review. You have good spelling.
Seriously it's a great anime, and I love the studio.
I'm talking about the act of engaging in sexual intercourse with the thing you are sitting on while watching an anime.
You make a good point anon. This is hard to counter.
Did I just fall for the bait? Shit.
No, I just sit there and watch the damn thing.
Good. That's healthy.
Sir that is a glorious crotch shot. Though, when they are kicking ass my personal crotch tends to get a little confused.
Picture: How much lesbian sex would you like to happen here?
I think you're pretty healthy too. Same here. I still got to enjoy looking at Satsuki's very not covered up bottom.
That's called being a man.
If you have boners just because a piece of ass is thrown on the screen, you're either 12, or you're way too sensitive.
Or you're mind is always filled with lewd things, like half of /a/
That's actually the least accurate way to look at it. KLK doesn't satirize fanservice, at least not on a massively regular basis.
Are the designs made to be visually appealing? Absolutely. They're meant to show skin and be sexy and lewd, including for viewers - not as a parody, but as simple fanservice.
But that same sexuality is also relevant to the series' plot and themes as well as character (especially Ryuko) growth. In fact, it's pretty much central to those, so as a part of the show, it is absolutely necessary and important.
tl;dr saying it is a satire of fanservice is inaccurate, when it in fact uses it heavily both for sexual appeal and as a central plot point.
The face I make when my little sister starts eating the end off my pocky.
There's lots of male service as well.
I can't wait for the pt_BR dub. DON'T LOSE YOUR
Word. I think this basically sums it up!
There is that guy who just can't keep his clothes on.
It's not a satire of fan service, it's a satire and homage of magical girl anime. It takes fan service to the extreme of being a central plot point.
Hell the entire show's pace is making fun of the typical pace of series relying on fan service.
This is like people that think Pacific Rim isn't tipping it's fedora every 10 minutes.
I never said it doesn't satire anything, merely that saying it's a satire of fanservice is inaccurate.
I don't even know what you're trying to say with that last line though.
I like Kill la Kill it's a good fun show that doesn't take itself seriously. Literally the samurai jack of anime.
You could always leave or watch another anime yaoi pandering shit. People like you are the problem and never do anything irl to accomplish your skewed perspective.
All i see is hopeless whining from a sore troll that could never be relevant in actual society.
Have fun with the rest of your life, berta.
