How much value do you put into visual direction?
Fuck off, kyoanus licker.
Makoto Shinkai does good photorealism for example.
I really liked Nisekoi because it steered away from standard school/rom com generic look
NGNL was shit because they just shoved post fx and bloom on everything instead of drawing it well.
It doesn't matter what visual direction it takes, as long as it does it effectively.
SHAFT is too good.
Their anime are being studied by film students in Japan.
That's not photorealism and visual direction is not about some specific direction like north or east. A work does not "take a visual direction".
Shinkai is great but why does his work always attract pretentious idiots?
I'm talking about visual direction as well. Or are the characters and BGs not drawn in the anime you watch?
Both bakemonokatari and madoka have really bland character designs visually.
It isn't exactly photorealism no, but I think the term works fine considering he drawns a lot closer to realism than most anime.
I might be wrong, but I always use visual direction as a synonym for aesthetic choice, as in the style its drawn in.
Improved by adding orange filter.
Don't really give a shit, as long as the girls are cute.
Friendly reminder that blue/orange contrast has an ingrained appeal in humanity from millennia of staring at campfires and sunsets, and if you feel an aversion to it it's because you're on a bandwagon.
I prefer to pair orange with a warm gray. The color of blue is implied even in its absence. Such is the power of orange.
I care a lot, but I don't care if a movie isn't visually beautiful.
Only posting these three...
Just tell me if I should post more. Take note that I have posted all of my collage at least once on /a/ and on /tv/, so you might recognize.
What is there to study?
They have no budget so they just throw some random shit together and do lots of close ups and crap.
You have to be some kind of special retard to think there is any meaning to the fanservice/harem garbage they make.
Asura. It's a shitty movie. Characters designs are ugly and the movie as a whole is average. Although, when everyone chases Asura, it's great, it may have to do with the music that pays during all.
Great movie. Watch it. Pameta Inverted.
