It doesn't matter if the media is Japanese, French or German, watching it in it's original language is always the preferred way. Especially in a language that uses honorifics. Honorifics are very significant in Japanese, simply changing the honorific used can signal a change in character relationships. Learning the difference between -kun, -chan, and -san doesn't take five minutes. Polite speech is the same, I don't fully understand much Japanese but I am able to distinguish when a character uses such speech, European languages also have formal speech, such as vous/tu in French, this would all be lost in translation.

Another thing to consider is the skill of the translator and re-writer. In dubs an effort is always made to fit what the character is saying to the mouth movements made, the best translation may not fit, synonyms can only go so far and eventually the original meaning will be lost.

If you enjoy watching dubs then good for you. However you may pick up more subtle details if you start watching subs or maybe I'm just being an autistic elitist.

Instead, the translator decided the original script was stupid and rewrote it as a comedy. The VAs thought it was still stupid, and ended up ad-libbing everything towards the end. Actually, knowing a good amount of basic japanese, contrary to this point, I found reading subtitles to be more enjoyable than watching RAWs, because most of the time in anime, characters are just standing there mouth flapping at 4 fps.

They are doing good in dubbing and home video. When it comes to online streaming they are getting absolutely buttfucked by Crunchyroll. They will be in a hard position in ~5 years when home video really starts to die.

Where are they even getting the budget to do this, DBZ BD revenue?

Anyway, now they're acting their actors to dub a show on a more weekly basis instead of many episodes at once like usual. I know it's not week-to-week exactly as they have leeway with advance scripts, but it's not like they'll have the scripts for later episodes that far in advance, maybe a month at most, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

The whole rhythm and annunciation in the way they speak in real life sucks, it's too close to the rest of the Asia. Anime speech is clean and understandable, something Chinese and Korean literally cannot copy.

Sentai is just ADV renamed after re-organization. Geneon dubs were mostly done by Bang Zoom and Oceans. Early Oceans stuff was spotty in my opinion.

I like English dubs. You don't find many bad ones anymore. Been that way for over a decade.
