I see other forms where if someone doesn't like a show they sort of tip-toe around saying that they don't like it because god forbid you express an opinion. When I was just starting out as a newfag back 9 years ago, I did a lot of shit that I shouldn't have and learned from my mistakes. I had already lurked for a good half year but then I realized I had to lurk for a whole 'nother year before posting again.

Which reminds me of the matter of OPs. It may just be my incorrect assumption, but I feel like the longer an anon has browsed, the less likely it is that this anon makes threads.

I remember making several threads just in my first weeks back in 09, but now I start like 1 thread every half a year or so, and only when I have something concrete I want to discuss. But I suppose samefagging actual discussion is preferable to silent image dumps as some anons tend to do. Though that practice is far less common today with captcha and increased post timers in mind.

It did change the site a lot for better and for worse, but it would probably be maddening to go back to the page system.

One very concrete improvement is the abolition of the bump posts(Except for on /r/ or the ever so fastly moving /b/, but who cares?). It used to be that your thread had practically no chance of surviving without some sort of samefagging, since it could just blast by the first page without anyone noticing and entering the thread. With hundreds of anon lurking the catalog these days it's almost impossible not to attract at least one or two posters at least.

Then nobody pointed it out so I did myself as a third person which would cause an influx of people just going >vlc just so that the thread would get attention.

I used the search function all the time. Just include the keywords you need in the OP and people will come. I would never give up the convenience of the catalog though, especially now that you can't delete a mistyped OP.
