I think they were dodging brand names in the first season(s). They always referred to cars with chassis codes and you'd never see any manufacturer logos on the cars. Note how the 86 is missing the Toyota marking on the back of the car.
In later seasons you could actually see the missing details and I think they might actually call the car manufacturer by name.

You idiot, did you even seriously watching it?
There are car club, and that car club blocking and redirecting the car to the mountain pass everytime they have a race, hence the walkie talkie and stuff.
And they race from dead middle of the night to 3 o.clock in the morning (this one is part what I understand from IRL race in Japan).
These kind of car club are forbidden now. Also no longer popular (Yet in 2012 some people still did it on obsecure mountain pass).
>>114665516
>Also no longer popular
That makes me sad.

>>114665778
Which season did that happen in?
>>114665840
5th stage ep8
>>114665840
Think it was 4 or 5? They took advantage of the fog in one episode. And in others they said some driver was scared of oncoming traffic so held back.
Oh god. The 8-6. Memories are coming back of that shit Initial D dub I used to watch on TV. Takumi was TAK. Natsuki was Natalie. And everything was wrong with the world. Until I discovered subs.
>>114665205
I remember two instances.
The on-coming car that Ikentani almost crashes into.
The on-coming car that Takumi passes by four-wheel drifting on one lane only. I wish I could remember what episode it was in.
>>114665778
Unregulated street race by street club =/= unregulated one
Initial D is mix of everything that totally legal to something that ilegal did I need to remind you Takumi was originally driving from his 1st year of highschool without driving license? and also there are some kid in the middle school racing with him.
From time to time they race without street club protecting the start and the end of mountain pass.
>>114666041
You should see the Tokyopop manga relase, it' terrible.
I bought the first volume, and it had shit like you described, along with countless other mistakes and errors.
By the way, didn't the first dub for Initial D also remove eurobeat?
>>114666104
>Takumi was originally driving from his 1st year of highschool without driving license
Pretty sure he started driving without a license when he was 13 year old, which would place him in middle school.
>>114666128
Yeah it had its own shitty American song in it. I WANT MAH INFORMATION
>>114665205
>>114666045
There was traffic in the race between Takumi and Shingo as well as Takumi and Mako/Sayuki. Plus you have to bear in mind that they're driving in the dead of night on mountain roads. No one usually drives around then, especially if it's common knowledge that street racers run around there at that time.
>>114666104
They didn't protect jack shit. They just warned the top of the mountain of incoming cars.
In the first battle, they warn about the incoming panda Trueno but do nothing to stop it. Takumi could just leisurely drive to the starting line.
>>114666159
oh fuck I thought 13 years old is for 1st high school.
>>114666104
I am pretty sure the stuff in stage 4 and 5 (based upon >>114665900 >>114665932) where it happend was more of the regulated stuff. Not that it makes much of a difference as they didn't exactly close the road off they would just radio warnings in.
>>114666182
Oh yeah, it was the Takumi/Shingo battle where he did the one-lane four-wheel drift in.
>>114666216
>They just warned the top of the mountain of incoming cars.
Only sun-whatever street car club did that. If they have connection to construction companies or have the tools they will redirect them for big races.
>>114666216
What are they supposed to do, then? Gang up on the car and make them stop? The procedure they employ is the best one possible - they have checkpoints that notify people higher up on the mountain of traffic via walkie-talkie, and those people then notify the drivers via hand signals that there's traffic ahead. The drivers then stick to the left lane until they pass the traffic.

You are very wrong and delusional. And you've definitely never "done it"
The point of greatest friction is right before the tire starts to skid. ABS brings the tires in and out of this point much faster than you ever could, allowing it to stop faster than a human on dry pavement. You cannot brake faster than a modern ABS.
>>114673509

ABS is a binary On/Off.
Threshold braking is steady pressure.
It's faster than ABS, and very difficult to do.
I've never been able to do it on any sort of course.
>>114673923
Yep but there isn't those shitposts with >weebshit on my /o/, since we are on /a/ and /o/ has a lot of normalfags
>>114674062
He probably doesn't know if he jam his feet full brake on non ABS car he would probably in hospital right now.
Ignore him.
>>114673841
/o/ has entertaining tripfriends though - I still don't know why there are so many of them there
>>114673828
>ABS brings the tires in and out of this point much faster than you ever could
You realize why it's called "threshold" braking, you dipshit?
You hold the brake AT THE THRESHOLD. ABS takes you in and out of that zone very quickly. Proper threshold braking never leaves the zone. It's hard as shit, and everyone but racing drivers will be faster on ABS.
>>114674165
Because the nature of the hobby.
What you drive is important, and tripping prevents the required "wut to do you drive" every-time.
It also lets people with actual knowledge retain credibility, and build up a reputation of trustworthiness in the community.
Of course, it's also for attention whores.
Despite being a massive car fan I have never actually watched Initial D because holy shit those character designs are AWFUL.
>>114674291
There's no bad side of wanting to show your car ownership.
Except when they start making fun of your car/motorcycle.

How are you guys this retarded.
Threshold braking and ABS operate in different ways. ABS cycles in and out of the point of maximum friction very very fast to create the most braking force possible. Threshold braking involves holding the braking pressure as close as possible to this point of maximum friction.
However, ABS has computer advantages you don't. It can control the braking force for each individual wheel all at once, while threshold braking allows you to only adjust braking for the entire car as a whole. You CANNOT out-brake a modern ABS like this. It's impossible because the ABS has more control over the car than you.

>>114674339
Why do you care about how the character looks on an anime about cars?
>>114674935
Because I am incredibly autistic.
It was mostly the manga though, the anime from what I've seen looks a lot better. I should download it eventually.
>>114663933
What the fuck are you talking about? They finished translating the whole manga already.
>>114667074
Yo, they changed the voice actors too.

I swear that I know the lyrics to most of the songs. Just hearing the first 2 seconds and I can tell what song it is. I am afraid that I have listened too much. I fear a speeding ticket in my near future...

Anyone excited for the new trilogy?
>Mamoru Miyano as Takumi
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the original cast. Grew up with it, no less. But having mamo just seems so... right?
