Might as well post my latest haul.
I've been tossing around the idea of making an /ak/ game for a bit, and mentioned it in an /ak/ thread a few days ago and got a positive response. But I need ideas for gameplay.
Of course it would be a first/third-person shooter. I'm thinking customizable characters are a must, but that's all I've got.
What do you guys think? Two teamed deathmatch? Free for all? Something with more story? Online? Offline with AI?
Give me your ideas, or let me know if you want to help.

Offline should be main priority, then intergrating AI at a later stage, after bugs have been fixed and the UI made more effective and streamlined.
Story should be a part of it. Give us a shout if you want story ideas.
Finally, full customisation should be a long term goal. 3rd person is preferable, but I don't mind 1st person.
Something that's less of a generic FPS clone and more of a stylized arena shooter would not only fit the anime artstyle better, but be easier to make.
Again, it's up to you. If you are going with UT/Quake-ish gameplay, just know you don't need this to be super competitive with no fun allowed. If you want reloading, lack of map based weapon pickups, class systems, and other features, I support that 100%. It's more fun this way I think.

That one /v/idya idea about two groups of lolis playing war using their hands as guns and making "pew pew" sounds with their mouth. I don't have the screencap. If not pretend "hand" guns, then water guns.
Maybe a single-player survival game about being lost in the woods full of cannibal rednecks and trying to escape with your daughter.

Didn't know this existed, I'll have to give it a play. Like I said, I don't have anything set in stone yet. However I can assure the texture and model detail would be higher. I'm looking at making this in Unreal Engine 4.

Good input though, I'm putting everything in a doc file for future reference. I imagine I won't get started until I can recruit a few people and get a more solid idea of what to make. I already have one programmer pretty interested.

Sabagebu...anything goes and it opens up a lot of possible cameos/crossovers.
In Xcom, you could chance the specific soldiers look from face structure to armour colour and even head gear. You could also change their armour, primary weapon, secondary weapon and have one or two additional slots for extra gear like grenades, medkits and extra scopes. You could also change their first and last names and their nickname when they got one. Their class could also be changed by assigning different subskills to the unit. Thus allowing to units of the same class to be quite different indeed. You could also include promotions aswell.

See innawoods.net for an example of how despite having no story or gameplay, it's fun all the same to kit out your character.
Personally I like girls, I like guns, I like lesbiguns... but it's not going to make for an interesting story just having lots of lesbian sex in fatigues. Especially when it is going to be filled with messy death without magical or technological plot armor to save the girls from becoming dutchko material.
I wanted to do an SNES Harvest Moon mod where you build a base instead of a farm in SHTF. It's nice to have dreams. Or maybe you can try a princess maker/operator maker game where you raise that girl operator without the messy death/explosion.
An Xcom like base system could be considered for a post apocalypse style game. Sending out scout parties to loot stuff, a "science" department on ideas on how to put together cuter equipment and deadlier weapons, and an engineering workshop to put it together.
And also, from now on, I shall be identifying my Ideas with a signature name so that people can link back to my previous posts.
Also, consept idea for the general setting, characters and gear state, but it's up to you if you want to follow this.
Cat girls are my thing, I have already decided to make it a customizable option. Along with fox and bunny girls as well.

I've been toying around with the idea of school vs school combat in XCOM fashion. Start off with civvie friendly semi-autos and mil surp bolties and move up to tactical operator operator. Different schools will be different difficulties, Military Academies have more training, Tokiwadai gets clones... even official suppliers, so only FN manufacture as an example. Goes through historical eras, so battle rifles will be earlier tier. Higher power and wieght of cartridge would be near low tier. Guns optimized for bishoujo would be later tier.
fanservice is fine, but remember that if you make it the core of the game you will LOSE to Artificial Academy.
Also no one wants to read bad fanfiction like that other /ak/ project that reeks of it.

So thus far we seemingly have settled on cute girls operating against other schools in a strategy game, lending parts from Xcom, including the Lunchbox style of individual unit customisation.

Give the characters random personalities and make them interact based on those personalities. This might affect how well they do in teams and you as a commander would have to make sure they can cooperate properly.
