I only ever played a bit of 2. HL was the shit back in the day. One of the last FPS games I ever played. I think I only ever played TF2, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and Combat Arms specifically to use the Super Saiyan cheats and fucking shit on the BR's playing it

But, just like HL2, GA will never get a sequel. It ran its course in the early 2000's, and pioneered modern slice of life anime, much like HL2 did for cinematic corridor shooters.

It hasn't aged well, like the Sonic Adventure series. Not to mention it was a lot more heavy with the cinematic sequences than the first game. The puzzles were also dumbed down (see: the dev notes found in game) for the casuals.

I don't hate it, I just got bored part by the really boring driving sequence.
I enjoyed most of the game before that a lot, but it kind of hit its climax at that town with all the headcrab zombies then got worse from there.
I enjoyed the first one for pretty much the whole game, so I think it's better based off of that.
I do however like the black mesa mod more than the first game, so I'm pretty sure it was just the general atmosphere and environment of the first which was better.

I'm not 100%, but from my experience, engage will have your unit break away from orders to fight an enemy. Counter does not ignore orders, only attacks enemies within their range.

For example, one stage that gave me a bunch of carriers, I had them hold point between two impassible areas, and set them to counter. They held their positions and fired barrages at the enemy so they couldn't get behind me.

Any time I have a unit with engage checked off, if I send them to a waypoint and they encounter an enemy, they will ignore it in favor of hunting enemies within their range.

Why you can have both checked, I don't know.

Loving this GA thread. GA was seriously one of my fondest series ever. I marathoned it when S4 was still in the middle of airing. The characters are so well fleshed out and I love every single one of them <3 (not counting some of the later ones that appear for later seasons)
