I don't get it, am I supposed to feel empathy for mankind's predator or something?
Feel free to call me a hippy or whatever but simply by buying food from a super market and wearing clothes bought in stores you indirectly have blood on your hands. That is to say that humans are as cruel as monsters.
I'm quite impressed with how watchable Tokyo Ghoul manages to be. I expected and got an edgefest, but it's handled quite well.
It's the worst adaptation compared to the source material i have seen in my life.
>ghouls have feelings too
I like how the author isn't even trying to hide that he can't think of one singe reason why we should sympathize with them.
> I'm only watching it for one specific seiyuu
>It's the worst adaptation compared to the source material i have seen in my life.
You should read more source material. Shit like Koihime and Mai Otome literally removed the protagonists and plot for their adaptions.
Why else would I pick it up?
Not all of them kill humans.
They're making an effort to fit into society.
Hell, the fact that you can transplant organs from one to the other means they're pretty much our cousins or evolutionary off shoots.
Yeah you must have pity on them and get yourself eaten by ghouls because they are have feelings too.
Man, this show is retarded. Claymore to much better this series. Bad guys are monsters and nothing more.
>want to protect people from sadistic flesh eating monsters and get revenge for losing loved ones
You're a funny guy, anon.
>humans do similar things
And guess what happens to them unless they're protected or go into hiding, both of which, surprise surprise, ghouls do as well?
You just don't like, cute celts girls.
I give my stance on this on literally every Tokyo ghoul thread. Ghouls NEED to eat humans to survive. That means they are directly a threat to human race. It doesn't help that most of them like to hunt even with other options available, and that you have binge eaters and sadists in spades. The most logical choice is extermination. I'm not saying it's right or even justified, it just is. It would take too much time and effort to try and build coexistence, and honestly the sheep could never fully adapt to living with the wolves.
>Not knowing about ghoul Jesus who ate human Jesus to forgive all ghoul sins.
I want to read the source material, but I genuinely like this anime, and I don't want it to be ruined by manga spoilers. once this series is over, will I need to read the manga from the beginning; what major things have been left from the anime? or does it have more to do with pacing than things being left out?
Oh my god you stupid fucking ''humans are evil too!'' retards, you can't even see how fucking stupid and retarded that statement is! HOW MANY FUCKING EVIL HUMANS DO YOU PERSONALLY KNOW? HOW MANY PEOPLE ON THE STREET YOU SAW IN YOUR LIFE WOULD YOU CLASSIFY AS MONSTERS? Because a VERY large majority of ghouls are evil, no denying it. It's not he same at all.
>I'm not saying it's right or even justified, it just is
That's the point.
This isn't like Shiki where the Shiki were terrible assholes and the humans were almost entirely right. Ghouls have to eat humans to survive and that's obviously a threat to humanity. Both have a right to survival so acting like one side is evil or just is stupid.
One series where protagonist is on "bad side" and people starts to get crazy.
I don't even see anything superior in humanity anyways, we're just animals with high intelligence (well, internet is making me doubt that), that's all.
That's like saying humans could life comfortably off roadkills and animals that die of old age, if the only thing we could eat was meant. There would always be those that want ''the taste'' or ''thrill of the hunt''. If i was responsible for a group of people, i sure as hell wouldn't sit idly as periodic tragedies occur.
Ghouls Jesus died then BASED SAINT GEORGE send him to purgatory.
How did humans in the past stop ghouls? Most of them seem to be basically invincible unless you have the special kakuho made weapons.
Before the modern days did they just do whatever they wanted?
The main problem is they re-arrange stuff for no reason and cut out some details like Kaneki being more calculating and hesitant when following Tsukiyama. The animation during the fights are really the biggest highlights though.
>taking humanities side
what have humans ever done, besides fuck up the earth?
What i hate about this manga is that it want you to sympathize with ghouls SO FUCKING BAD, there is so much forced drama and it's so obvious they tried extra hard to paint Mado as a monster. The funny thing is, i don't thing i ever felt so connected to a fictional character in my life, so they fucked that up. I hate hypocrisy, and the writing and premise in this show is so bad, the ghouls are borderline saying :''we eat humans and orphan children and shit, but we have feelings too so you are evil for hunting us waah" SUCK IT UP. If you're gonna kill somebody, be prepared for his loved ones to rain down motherfucking furious vengeance on your ass, if i was an investigator shit like that would just piss me off even more.
I'm taking my own side, not humanity's.
I don't even blame ghouls for hunting down humans, they don't have the choice.
But if they suffer or die, then I'll be happy if anything.
And you're retarded.
Ghouls are just the same as humans, except with a hunger for human flesh and a much bigger average ego and feeling of superiority. If they were in charge they would make Hitler look like Jesus. You're putting them in the same boat as Kars from Jojo, who loved every single living thing except humans. Don't do that shit. If you're too retarded too figure it out, ghouls are literally humans worse then humans.
>What has any specie ever done, besides preserving a status quo?
they have lived their lives without fucking up the environment
human accomplishment is only impressive to humans, and only matters to humans
>Not always taking humanity's side and destroying monsters, whether they resemble humans or not
Goddamned idiots, will you ever learn? Whether they look like humans or have emotions is completely irrelevant: They are predisposed to eat your kind, and should not be shown any sort of sympathy whatsoever.
I'm going to assume you haven't read most of the manga. Mado is only made out to be the bad guy for the short time he is around because he is cruel in his hatred for ghouls
For much of the rest of the manga he is humanized and made out to be a hero and a good man. We learn more about his past, how Amon respects him and his fucking daughter becomes a main character. Hell, there are even a ton of omakes with him as a single dad taking care of his daughter.
Nope, he's a bad guy, and at the begging i hated him a lot. not for killing ghouls, but for his attitude (Ghuls are evil. Ghouls don't have human feelings).
But later, understood that he was just little gear in spiral of hatred and revenege.
I view it as everyone has a right to fight for survival, the ghouls and the humans.
So both sides are justified. They both do horrible shit, so just support whichever side you like more.
Undoubtedly I would be calling for the genocide of ghouls if they existed unless I was one.
>human accomplishment is only impressive to humans, and only matters to humans
You are genuinely the shittiest, most unworthy sort of human being, and I have no words that can describe my absolute and utter disgust with you.
If you despise humans so much, do us all a favor and please die.
I read the manga and all of those. I know everything about Mado. I'm talking about how in the beginning they try to force you to sympathize with Ghouls and Mado was supposed to be the scapegoat. I don't know if the author always invisioned him like that or if that happened because of popularity that Mado got so much development.
>become cattle, you'l live better
Meruem, is that you?
Seeing Touka's distressed face and flailing legs was hot.
>fags like this actually exist
Holy fucking christ
Hell ya, being a creature built to kill things would make life exciting as fuck.
Undoubtedly it wouldn't be a good long term decision, but most people in fiction would have shitty lives if it was realistic.
It would be exciting, to say the least.
Yes, there are people who watch a show just because their favorite seiyuu is in it. Why do some people find this mind-boggling? It's an uncommon occurrence but it still happens.
I have to admit that there is logic in your way of thinking.
But if protagonists would be doves and Ghould would be "monsters to kill" then this series wouldn't be even as half interesting
>that entire monologue
Good God, am i supposed to sympathize here? Cause i'm popping a fucking vein instead.
>hunts and eats humans
>ghoul gets kills
>''Waah, i wan't vengeance!''
>''I-It's not my fault, y-you're the monster here!''
Its pretty obvious he was always planned that way considering Amon's huge respect for the guy, his daughter hasbecome a huge part of the plot and some of those omakes would have been out before popularity would have done much.
Thats why he is the perfect first human "bad guy." He has a terrible cruelty that makes him disgusting but that is only one part of him. Consider the entire manga is literally about ghouls who are people who are disgusting in some way it fits perfectly.
well suicides could not feed them all.
yes . they are cute girls among them so you should pity them.
Eating other ghouls drives most of them insane. Very very few have the mental fortitude to actually pull off a diet of other ghouls.
Just about the only co-habitation method to solve the ghoul problem would be to put ghouls in charge of morgues. Plus, that would free up all that cemetary space for anything else.
This is how I view the series myself. I don't think we're really meant to take sides black and white in Tokyo Ghoul, and the people bitching over Ghouls or Humans being right and wrong are missing the point almost entirely. As the series is a tragedy for Kaneki, it is for both Humans and Ghouls.
CCG are doing nothing wrong. Remove ghoul from premises.
The manga is going to shit anyway, and more's the pity.
That pained expression.
>Touka's first time.
I honestly don't think that the author's intention is to have you sympathize with all ghouls. A recurring theme within the story is that both sides have their monsters, and both sides are continuing a cycle that ensures more monsters continue to be made.
On the human side you have the CCG. All children orphaned by ghoul attacks are taken in by the organization so that they can be cared for properly and continue their education. 50% of those children wind up accepting training as investigators, and even more might wind up taking non-combat roles within the CCG. That means a massive percentage of the CCG's membership is made up of people who have suffered traumatizing loss at the hands of ghouls. They form camaraderie with one another, so when an investigator is killed by a ghoul it only further serves to fuel their hatred.
On the other hand, Ghouls are considered kill or capture on sight from the moment they're born. Most of them are extremely uneducated; many have likely not even attended high school, and the number that have made it to university undetected is probably even smaller. Many ghouls suffer the loss of their parents or siblings at a very young age due to ghoul investigators. They live on the streets and in places even the homeless won't live in. They literally cannot survive without feeding on people that think and feel just like they do, and many go mad or come up with insane rationalizations in order to cope with that.
TL;DR, shit be fucked.
according to /a/ there has never been a good adaptation of anything, so you should either stop judging things by their source material or not watch adaptations, problem solved
The problem is it's shit on it's own, but it gets horrendous once you realize how much they cut out and rearranged.
>inb4 why do you watch it then?
Based Mado ;_;
Based Doves in general
Before the anime, TG barely had any discussion. It's always funny to see mangafags with this godawful statement. The reason there's less shitpost before any anime adaption is because manga threads are typically bare as fuck and barely get any discussion unless it's an extremely popular manga. Only after getting an anime adaption do most manga threads even become popular here and start getting more scanlations.
Daily reminder, true Jesus hates ghouls, vampires, gays and protestants.
yeah, but i still miss those mature discussion before anime.
And i miss people who seems to liked characters from both sides and don't gives a fuck if they're people or ghouls.
Also at this point it's pretty difficult to say much about "Well why don't humans just let ghouls eat the dead?" and similar questions, because we basically don't have any history to go on whatsoever. For all we know major events might have occurred that didn't occur in our world, or vice versa. We don't even know how long ghouls have been around, even as a rough estimate.
Knowing the circumstances under which ghouls were first discovered and how the human population reacted to them would go a long way towards explaining why shit is as fucked up as it is during the point in the story.
Don't worry, friend, i'll teach you all about handling qt man-eating monsters.
That seems to be the message, yes. This is made even more clear when you stop to consider that Jason became a total monster because he was tortured by a psychopath working for the CCG, who in turn may very well have been abused. The CCG employee passed it on to Jason, who in turn passed it on to Kaneki.
It's the classic "abused becomes the abuser" story, which is often something you see happening in real life as well.
And this post sums up exactly how i feel about this.
Though what really gives me a fucking boner is when a new species is introduced into this kind of setting, one that preys exclusively on the predator of humans. Love seeing that shit. God i fucking love Trinity Blood.
The only way I can think of to really explain that is either people not really paying attention as they're reading, or only having watched the anime (which leaves out a lot). Folks love to get their Frodo on at the drop of a hat instead of stopping to think things through properly.
Is there any reason why the anime toned down Amon's personality? In the anime he almost comes off as this meek guy who's really friendly while the manga portrays him as a much more focused guy that's almost singleminded in his ideals.
Only Alucard/Dracula have my sympathy but he immortal vampire god who desires only death from a real man.
The only thing i felt for him was admiration.
The only reason Ghouls piss me off is because they come of as hypocritical. Alucard had no illusions about being a monster, he fully embraced it. That, i can respect.
I can respect the fact that he isn't a hypocritical faggot. I can also respect his strength. It's much easier for me to sympathize with someone like him, who was broken but never cries about it.
Fucking this. I can't believe they expect me to feel bad for man eating, degenerate, edgy fucktards.
I used to cut him some slack because he's new to the industry, but he's only gotten worse as he's gone on honestly. There are a lot of other debut artists who manage to have much better art than he does. Isayama is easily one of the worst, but his style is actually pretty good compared to his art quality.
Togashi's napkin drawn stuff is just him being a lazy fuck, his actual skill-ceiling is much higher compared to Isayama who just sucks outright. I don't read HxH, but this is just how it is.
>mfw ghouls are actually in charge of the CCG and ghoul families basically rule the world because until modern times they were unstoppable
>ghouls are actually in charge of the CCG
yet still my theory is that some organization created ghouls (failed experiments for super-soldiers or something) then became CCG and hunts down their own creations
> ghoul families basically rule the world because until modern times they were unstoppable
this one is more doubtful, ghoul organization showed to be... not really organized and definitely lacking some central authority.
Beside, i have feeling that Ghouls are quite new race. I don't have solid arguments, but there was some hints:
- page with Touka thinking about evolution of ghouls
- possibility to crossbreed with regular people
- rapid growth of power by cannibalizing, and possibility to inherit two type kagunes
- R-cells - sound kinda like mutagen factor in liquid
- bad organization and inferior role in society even trough superior physical abilities
- regular people not knowing much about ghouls
If you see a mosquito, you'll kill it without a second thought simply because what they do to survive 'harms' us. I dont think theres any right or wrong in this, just fight for the sake of ones' species, since they can't properly coexist and kill or be killed.
i don't see how find out who tried to kill Rize would matter to him tbh. but the him being crazy during the torturing and her "saving" him would be a valid reason. but other then that i don;t see her being a romance option for him.
Remove ghouls. America edition.
Would you bully Hinami if it meant you can get into Rize's pants?
The Aogiri arc is do-able in 4 episode, r-right? The anime will get to "half-killed" Ayato, right? There's no way it will cop out and end right at the end of the centipede-kun's death, right?
Serious question time, why do people like this? I don't get what is there to like about this. Animation's good I dig it, but the story? What's there to like?
Someone told me it was because "The characters emotions feel so real"
In completely unreal and unnatural scenarios.
Why do people like this, be as detailed as you can.
If you support the CCG and their actions you are probably a normal person and a friend of mankind.
If you support the ghouls or the idea of coexistence, you are probably a hippie liberal douche that deserves to be exterminated just as badly as the ghouls themselves.
There is no debate. Just one side being objectively right. You can post "but I love / hate both sides equally" all you want, but we both know that deep down you identify with one more than the other.
A lot of ghouls don't have the privilege to have an education e.g. Hinami not being able to read properly, but luckily she had help from Anteiku and was accepted by them otherwise she would've became a 'juvenile ghoul'. Those juvenile ghouls will turn into fucked up mass murderers because they have no guidance or education. They don't know what's right or wrong, so their view become so messed up. While CCG doesn't give the ghouls a fair trial and just kills them mercilessly; it's just causing more chaos for both sides.
i like it because of how unstable everyone is mentally it's so interesting to watch them struggle between being ghoul in the human world and ultimately having to eat the people they are trying to fit in with. And seeing Kaneki turn into a class 5 mental patient is entertaining as well lol.
You'll never stick it in Touka's butt as you watch her expression via a mirror. ;_;
>There is no debate. Just one side being objectively right
Both sides are wrong. Ghouls eating humans or each other is amoral at best because there is just no choice in the matter. It's either self preservation or death. The only evil comes in is with Rize's over consumption or restaurant ghouls making a special of the killing.
This is not the defend the ghouls entirely because it seems like the only non-shit people are Yoshimura and Hinami.
> i don;t see her being a romance option for him.
Don't ruin this for me.
And on the first point, he really got started searching into Rize after the Aogiri arc when yamori said that what happened to him wasn't an accident and Kanou is using Rize to make ghouls.
The Ghouls would probably fare better in places such as: Brazil, the United States, Honduras, Guatemala, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Jamiaca, South Africa, Colombia, El Salvador, Belize, Venezuela, and etc.
In all of these places there's always people being murdered and dying (mostly at the fault of the US and American companies) so they would have food galore. I know that they pick off of suicide victims in the show, but I highly doubt that the amount of people killing themselves in Japan can equal the amount of people being killed in the aforementioned countries. They can have a feast almost everyday, though it would mostly be African and Latin food.
You know what Tokyo Ghoul is missing?
Brown girls, Ko-gal ghouls when?
The theory that ghouls are a new species most likely resulting from experimentation would make the most sense, and have the fewest number of plotholes, but damn it would be cool to have a story about ghouls set somewhere like the old west.
Why don't the Ghoul Hunters rifles easily kill ghouls?
>their skin is tough
Yeah it's not tougher than a bullet. Even 5.56 can penetrate 1/4" of steel. It's fucking hardened flesh.
>ghouls are fast
They're not faster than the speed of sound which is slower than a bullet. I think people fail to realize how fast you can adjust aim to react to a moving target as well.
If Keneki survives it would prove that some ghouls can survive head shots.
anything other than Hitting the brain is something they can heal over, they could probably get away before getting another one in.
>God damn it Commie, I trusted you.
I trusted you...
You know what would make people and ghouls coexist. Ghouls have to stop eating human. No hunting humans and or eating them. Ghouls stop first than humans can stop hunting them. If cannot or they go crazy for not eating humans, then there will never be a chance to coexist,
I hope she recovers her smile someday.
Would sleep with and ignore her calls.
I never said I would, I hate Rize.
I think I mistook the use of normal with mentally stable.
>I just hate girls that sexualize themselves is all.
>I'm not a lolicon
Whats the correlation?
You see middle school age sluts all the time.
What I'm saying is I don't like Hinami because she's really young but because of how she acts.
What if Hinami was actually a lewd girl?
It's like that in the manga.
Bait and switch.
Hide saw it coming.
this anime is literally just more edgy version of Shiki
>m-muh what's wrong with trying to live
>m-muh not every vampire is bad
yeh nah, fuck monsters.
That was because the manga only had material until a certain point.
Also the adapted parts are extremly good and much better than the same ones in Brotherhood
The movie was worse
Comparing it to Shiki where the they killed to live in this show we are shown that ghouls can live off suicide victims, so in this case you're a retard to pick the human side over MC and co.
With their superior strength I'd go so far as to say humans are vastly inferior and from an economic POV expendable for mutual dealings with ghoulkind.
the moment I saw >>112674206 i thought of >>112674353
>worst adaptation to the source material
It can't be any worse than the Tsukihime adaptation. If so, then the manga must be fucking amazing.
>fucking up the earth
Would the ghouls fare any better in that regard? They use the same technology and dress in the same cloth. I suspect they wouldn't stop doing that even if they managed to take complete control. The one key difference would probably be human cattle.
>human accomplishment is only impressive to humans
This is probably true. But ghouls largely live like humans and enjoy many of the same benefits of human society at the same costs. Also, the ones who want these ghouls dead are ultimately human, so can you blame them?
>they have lived their lives without fucking up the environment
The environment is a cruel place where species make other species go extinct all the time. Human civilization is a really successful all-consuming organism in this regard, and it's unlikely that any other species would act differently given the amount of power "we" have. Especially ghouls who are almost exactly like humans in all regards when it comes to behavior.
Ghouls may function as population control, I give them that. But if so,then what the fuck are they doing in japan? Export them somewhere else.
They're a bit similar, but the main difference is that in Shiki the vampires are, pretty much without exception, killers. By contrast, ghouls are born and grow up without ever being human and many never kill anyone. They weren't turned into monsters, they are essentially just fucked in that they need human tissue to survive.
The fact that a lot of them still pick existing corpses (suicide victims etc.) over harming any living humans says a lot. After all, what's more just: to be born human and never having to struggle, or to be born as a ghoul and trying nonetheless to live without killing? They could be monsters, but many chose to be people instead.
The problem with Tokyo Ghoul is that many of the ethical questions are never discussed within the story.
Shit, you guys are stupid. You shouldn't be that butt hurt just because you like a story and another idiot doesn't care about it.
Yes. he's a faggot for not at all caring about the other shit, but a seiyuu you like is a valid reason for picking a show up.
You know the only reasons to watch an anime adaption are voices, soundtrack and, yes, the animation, all of that makes sometimes for some nice atmosphere
like the first two eps of Tokyo Ghoul. If you want the story you should stick to the original.
>The problem with Tokyo Ghoul is that many of the ethical questions are never discussed within the story.
Motherfucking this. Its all about muh powers and fights now. Shit sucks.
Yes, but they lose a lot of people, too. Mostly no-names getting killed by mysterious-character-yet-to-become-fully-relevant-to-the-plot or for shock-value.
Yeah, it's what I always hate about shows like this. I recently started watching True Blood, but dropped the show when the bullshit drama just became too much and there was absolutely nothing about the world and the setting relevant anymore.
You have this really interesting background that throws questions about society and morality left and right, only to ignore it all in favour of shitty inter-personal drama and chapter-long fight-scenes. The ordinary ghouls have all but disappeared from the story. There's maybe one omake chapter where Suzuya and his trainee go up against one of the gangs, but that's it.
How did Yomo manage to live after being speared by Kaneki?
>not self inserting when reading books and watching media
What's wrong, you have a nice life or something?
You can wish death and suffering on your hunter, but it's one sided and petty. Don't necessarily offer yourself to be eaten, and by all means fight for your survival, but at least respect the sanctity of life. Fuck.
I find it funny how so many people think there's no reason to empathize with the ghouls. Y'all are as broken and fucked up as the people in the show.
>I find it funny how so many people think there's no reason to empathize with the ghouls. Y'all are as broken and fucked up as the people in the show.
To be honest, my guess is they're mostly trolls who try to get a rise out of people by being intentionally thick or contrarian. I doubt anyone with such a lack of self-awareness would stay on this site for very long.
Daily reminder what are ghouls are monsters who going to extinct in the end. Bad guys always lose in the end, ghouls are totally bad guys here.
p.s. Fucking monsters don't act like people, and die already.
>Ghouls are inherently evil
>Implying it's not just current Ghoul Culture
>Implying you couldn't integrate Ghouls into society
>Implying eating corpses is inherently bad
Come on you shits, you're better than this.
Considering to the common plot monsters like vampires, nazis zombies, ghouls, demons, and others species want to kill all mankind and rule the world. That is why heroes like blade, punisher, Constantine fighting against them for a reason.
Animeonlyfag here, interested in reading the manga.
How is the manga better than the anime?
Did they cut something?
Did they change anything?
Or is it just the censorship that ruins it to you?
But those kinds of monsters are boring as hell, when it comes to a story with a larger scope. Noble hero vs. pointlessly-evil monster is a narrative that nobody cares for, because it's been done to death and has no relevance to the world we know. Reality is virtually never black and white, so people won't accept a story where the creatures are just evil for no reason.
'Blade' gets away with this by making vampires become dumb and evil upon being turned, because otherwise he couldn't slaughter them by the truck-load and still retain audience-sympathy.
>Reality is virtually never black and white, so people won't accept a story where the creatures are just evil for no reason.
Ghouls in this story want to kill all mankind that's for sure.
They pushed the mini-arcs out of order to resolve Nishiki and Tsukiyama before the Dove-arc. They also shoe-horned Jason in from the start in order to lead into the Aogiri-arc, even though it's still ages before he should turn up.
They cut a lot of the pacing and back-story, which means that many parts of the anime make no sense at all.
Just read the manga and then go back to the anime. You'll be glad you did, before ruining your impression through whatever abomination they're coming up with to cover the torture-chapters.
They're just hungry, man. Imagine if you could only eat human flesh, what would you do? Want to eat corpses I bet, or hope they develop synthetic flesh for you t eat.
Or maybe you'd want the humans to kill you, you filthy slut. I bet that's what you'd like, for Mado to thrust his hard Quinqe all up in your guts.
The only ones even remotely with an agenda are Aogiri-Tree and 'V', and the latter one explicitly mentioned keeping the "balance" and keeping a low profile.
Even the gangs in the violent wards are only focussed on survival.
That's not even mentioning the huge number of ghouls living quietly in the background, who wouldn't kill even if they had the chance, because through some miracle they managed to come out of their traumatic childhood without a fucked-up moral compass.
The only ones who'd come even close to having plans like that are Aogiri-Tree and their end-game has yet to be revealed. Furthermore, their attempts would be completely futile. Once their attacks would become too costly for the politicians, they'd just enact some emergency-legislation, send in the military and start flattening city-blocks until the menace was dealt with.
There is no scenario where the ghouls can come out on top. They're fucked the moment it's more efficient to waltz over them with a massive display of force, rather than covering up the real number of casualties.
Are people really this dumb? Are morally ambiguous settings really too much for you to comprehend? Holy fuck, no wonder nobody gives a crap when you invade other countries.
Only the ones who are willing and able to kill others and they're not much different from human murderers. The reason for killing doesn't matter.
The cognitive dissonance lies in that the state will kill any ghoul, wether they've murdered anyone or not, while allowing human murderers prison sentences.
what would you do in kanekis shoes?
if you don't ill yourself (which is not easy anyway), you will eat humans wether you like it or not.
and then you get into the ghoul community. and then what?
>good and bad depends on which viewpoint you take.
I am already chosen the side. Kill the monsters, no matter what.
You know this is going to look harsh if it's revealed that ghouls are the failed results of some genetic/super soldier project. Especially if the original test subjects were unwilling.
Another thing is, there is a deliberate cognitive dissonance being perpetuated by the CCG as well as the media. They paint ghouls as amoral monsters, to avoid inconvenient questions about morality and the ethics of killing them on principle. More profound questions, such as why there aren't any visible efforts being made into looking for ways to coexist, are ignoried completely. Considering how well-understood ghoul-physiology is, would it be so far-fetched to devise a way to mass-produce artificial human tissue, saturated with RC-cells? We are already only one step away from growing complex organs from a few tissue-samples, so why is creating simple meat an impossibility?
Ghouls are inherently evil. If you go crazy and killing left and right for not having food than you are evil. It's just bad luck for you to be born a ghoul. Also some people don't like to give their family corpse away because some random monster that have no benefit for society at all are hungry. Ghouls are a threat, therefore they should be exterminated.
Because it is futile. As ghouls are human eating monsters. There are also binge eaters like Rize or some other maniac ghouls that just kill for fun. Ghouls has no benefit thus making them not necessary. If ghouls really want to integrate with society they have to learn to be able to control their urges to kill people when they are hungry. If they were about to die because have not eaten any food, then they should die without going on a killing spree.
Most Ghouls kill for food, sometimes for revenge and some kill because they're evil psychos, it's more bad luck to be born a Ghoul in a shit place where everyone hates you and you learn to hate them. The people who don't give away corpses to hungry Ghouls, while within their rights, are morons for wanting to cut short the life of a sentient being, equal in value to a human, by making it starve. Ghouls are an issue, therefore they should be integrated.
Ghouls are at least as capable to be of use for society as humans. Perhaps even more capable, considering their overpowered physiology.
At the end of the day, they are slightly stronger humans who can only live by eating other humans. Murder isn't inherent in that.
>some people don't like to give their family corpse away
Wouldn't we be the more evil ones to value the dead more than the living by refusing to let them eat our dead? The corpse is going to rot away without dignity either way, so why not?
Well congratulations on being an outlier in human society, because most normal people wouldn't want to live next door to someone that eats human flesh, it's something people are generally uncomfortable and fearful of, even if said cannibal was the nicest person in the world.
Cannibals are humans who chose to kill and eat others because they're fucked in the head. Ghouls have to eat human flesh or they'll starve.
As for the roommate thing, everything depends on the person's actions and character. Living with Hinami and her parents wouldn't be an issue, but living with Yomo would be too much since he's already seen and done too much to still have anything resembling a normal life.
>slightly stronger humans
They're like 7 times as fast, can easily endure gun shots, have regeneration 200x better than ours, have extra, portable limb(s) that can easily cut steel and you call all that "slightly"?
>Cannibals are humans who chose to kill and eat others because they're fucked in the head. Ghouls have to eat human flesh or they'll starve.
Do you honestly think the majority of people would care to make the distinction?
>people utterly incapable of understanding moral ambiguity
like i said, both sides have very good reasons to kill and hate each other.
but if you are like OP, and don't understand
-why ghouls are hating humans
-why you are supposed to feel empathy towards ghoul characters
then this just means that a motherfucking japanese mango is too complicated for you to grasp.
the question here is, what are ghouls supposed to do?.
and according to >>112702001, they should all kill themselves.
good job you geniuses.
Would you support the decision of a family to deny an organ-transplant from a deceased family-member for no practical reason, even though that transplant would save another person's life?
No, because the other person is a human and the thing donated is an organ. That's your problem you think that the value of a human life is inferior to those who of the ghouls.
The basic order should be
Humans > Dead Humans > Ghouls > Dead Ghouls.
Yes, that's why being an organ donor is actually a thing, because this sort of shit happens. There's no reason a family moral or religious beliefs should be violated unless they agree to it, to do other wise is despotism disguised as altruism.
Perhaps not, but I do beliebe that we are more socially evolved than the manga makes it out to be. There would at least be an honest, public discussion about the morality of it all.
For example, even terrorists today are shown as people who, despite their horrible actions, believe in their own twisted thinking to do the right thing. It doesn't mean we support them, but we at least try to understand their motivation.
I also have the same stance on necrophilia. I wouldn't want to shaft a corpse, but if two people have a lawful contract that states if one dies the other can fuck them, no harm no foul.
Yes, you should kill yourselves or just go away to some deserted island far away from humans. Ghouls should suppress their desire to kill humans when hungry. If they can do that, means to coexist will be much easier.
Why is a ghoul's life valued less than a human's then?
Then why is watching someone bleed out on the sidewalk without helping them a crime and denying a transplant isn't? The argument 'My religion prohibits me from getting blood on my hands' would never hold up in court.
>would it be so far-fetched to devise a way to mass-produce artificial human tissue, saturated with RC-cells?
Mbiosfag here, not at all. In fact, research spent into creating a stable food source for ghouls literally goes hand in hand with most biotech research.
Now the hard part would be trying to genetically engineer an animal that also produces RC cells without fucking everything up and still making the thing edible to ghouls, partly because that stuff isn't easy and partly because there's no real information given to us on what the fuck an "RC cell" is. Considering RC cells seem to be spread throughout the entire fucking body so that a ghoul can be satisfied eating anything from a dick to an eyeball that raises a lot of questions, the first in my mind being "Ok, if this shit is so important how come the setting doesn't ever bring up the issue of people who have abnormally low or high RC cell count? Are there any diseases associated with having an abnormal concentration of them? If so, are there any medicines for them?"
