Why is /a/ so butthurt about MT going down? You know there are torrent sites like bakabt that can easily replace it, right? Just download Deluge and start torrenting
direct downloads have higher quality than manga streaming sites run by sleazy admins whose main priority is maximizing their ad revenue from Google
for manga you don't care about, like Bleach, using pandamanga site is fine. But you wouldn't use a shitty streaming site that resizes and resamples and degrades visual quality down on a manga like Berserk or Blame! or what have you, would you?
It bothers me because it was my go-to place for downloading releases from groups that only post on reader sites/irc.
>You know there are torrent sites like bakabt that can easily replace it, right? Just download Deluge and start torrenting
If you only read completed manga, sure. Also Deluge is a shit client.
MT did a great job at hosting loads of manga that isn't actually available in other places, for instance when a scanlator's site no longer exists or when their files are fucked for some reason. Their volume batches are also nice sometimes.
MT is valuable tool in the toolbox.
Speaking of Deluge, how come this client can't read letters other than the standard alphabet? I can't download anything japanese nor I can't download Love Live shits because theres a letter "µ" in the filename.
After new versions of uTorrent turned to shit, I tried both Deluge and Transmission for a couple months each, but they both suck so in the end I just went back to uTorrent 2.2.1
XDCC is fine but some don't have it.
It grips my asshole who some people only upload to readersites. MT was indeed useful in those situations, even if you had to wait a while.
I could count on the fingers of my hands the number of times I've been on MangaTraders, but I was grateful for its existence every time I went there. It's quite sad, it was a place where I knew they had what I was looking for.
I hope that's true. I hope someone backed everything up. And I hope that said someone creates an FTP server.
Bakabt doesn't have much that's newer/unfinished.
Mangatraders was always great for series with shitty secret club scanlators who only give download links to their livejournal friends too.
23 hours of progress.
543GB already downloaded.
1.2TB more to go.
And there are a couple others also working to archive their own full copy.
It'll take days to save all this manga but we're getting it done.
I was in #tradersnetwork at the time.
~$900 was the lost paypal donations.
$900 was for the upcoming payment on the 14th.
A lot of silliness and drama ensued because of someone from /pol/ trolling the channel.
In the end, Blue agreed to let Wilik (Aftershock) keep the full amount. Not like he had much choice though.
Some time later, an hour or two I believe, Blue asked for access so that he could download his own copy as well, since Sakisan was already given access.
If you want to see that as paying for the content, ok.
Yes, as I stated that was part of the drama. Wilik was trolling the /pol/ troll and everyone else at that time. That's what he later claimed anyway. If you want me to paste logs I can, but there's no real point to do so.
I hope at least you are being a well-intentioned buy misinformed rather than a troll.
You're delusional if you think One Piece readers are automatically underage.
Not even the guy you are arguing with.
You also need to lurk more if you don't know that a good part of /a/ are One Piece fans, and I'm not talking about new people.
I really don't know why this is still such a glowing point of curiosity. I spoke to Wilik, we discussed a few things, came to an understanding of what will be done, and he'll use the money for what we spoke about. But let's please not dwell on something so unimportant. What matters is that the manga is going to be saved and distributed.
Me specifically, I really don't know. There are definitely going to be torrents, for the most part I'm just going to go along with assisting the primary seeding that they do with it. But as for what I'm going to be doing on my own... I have yet to finalize.
Blue-san, any information where all the mangos are right now?
I need to download To Love Ru darkness colored.
I don't know. I've been in this thing since they were $4 a coin. I'm nowhere close to the red, I can tell you that.
welp, To Love Ru Darkness 44 is just out.
Time to fap.
I knew this shitty site woud get fucked
About a day or two before it was hacked I saw that they had $2000 in bitcoin donations. That's like waving a lottery ticket out your window in a ghetto neighbourhood
This wasn't discovered until after the hacking occurred.
That's just as silly as saying, "She was asking to be raped. Underneath her bulky artic wear parka and thick insulated leggings and several layers of clothing, she was wearing a thong."
They could have held it in their fucking pants until we finished downloading the manga. It risked the admins taking down the site forever and taking their data with them. Luckily we managed to negotiate and work something out, but it's no thanks to some fucking dumbasses that were antagonizing them on their IRC.
I stopped browsing the threads after they got the bitcoin donation system up
So you're telling me some guy donated the money to cover the costs of the servers, but they somehow got hacked, and they're fucked and just not going to go back online?
Jesus Christ, I stopped browsing because I thought this shit was done with. Why are people in general such stupid faggots? Why does stupid shit like this have to happen?
No, it had really shit security.
The hack was done on an unsecured development portal that allowed editting the DB directly. It was accessible by just using the folder name for that tool. The hacker got access to the forums that way and somehow ended up with root access.
The great irony here is that /a/'s help fucked the site over harder than it was fucked over by PayPal.
MT may have been able to get enough bitcoin donations to pay running costs without /a/. After all, they've been working off donations in the pass as well.
But /a/ got involved. And they formed an archiving project. And a jackass in the archiving project decided to create himself an admin user through SQL injection. And then the jackass decided to post the entire DB to "help" the project. And then other jackass decided to scrape it for passwords.
That's true though.
Almost no one bothers to translate anything that is being "simulcasted". Most fan translations now are series that aren't. If you don't believe this, just look at fansub comparison sites that show the differences between the scripts.
You guys can go back and forth about whose fault it really is all day and you'll never reach a conclusion. There was shit on all sides and there's nothing that can be done about it. All we can do is recover what's most important.
Just another poster.
Money is worth nothing in the hands of those who don't use it on the things they deem valuable.
Actually, if you paid any attention to the context or had emotional intelligence highly than a rock, you would have noticed that's exactly what blue doesn't want to happen. Hence, that statement is more threatening than complimenting.
Just when I was going to download Change 123 this happened
I liked MT because it had volumes compilations, made by kind people I guess.
>Money is worth nothing in the hands of those who don't use it on the things they deem valuable.
You are such a big-hearted man Blue.
I should start stalking you again.
Oh yes, thank you for reminding me of this. I am seeing at least seven of the volumes among the ones I've already grabbed.
I hope you have your watch list saved in notepad, anon.
MT would have been far less bloated if anyone on the staff cared to make sure fujoshits weren't abusing MT to host their yaoi hentai crap despite MT's no hentai upload policy.
Seems the fujoshit cancer had infected MT just like they did to Batoto.
>MT did a great job
except for the resolution restrictions
>scanlators do a 2400p and 1200p release
>only 1200p ends up on MT
>it's incredibly difficult to scrape together high res version before it falls to bitrot
>tfw only the first 3 volumes of Blame! exist in non-shit resolution
This will be even more of an issue with 4k screens.
I like having the option of zooming in on detail. You can easily downscale it to whatever size you prefer in your reader.
You're all very welcome. I don't mind being thanked. I just don't want the thread to be about me. There are many other anons working harder than me at this with their fancy servers and knowledge of networking and tools and scripts. For a simple gathering of anons, sakisan's team is pretty amazing and it really speaks to the kind of diversity that browses /a/. They're doing the bulk of the work. I just throw money at things with reckless abandon, ask questions about the most basic things, and help out with what I can.
There will likely be multiple torrent files, most likely separated by alphabetical groups. In such a case, certain letters will have a lot more than others. Q for example, would be filled with Qualia the Purple and... I really don't know what else.
Is it not possible to have direct downloads? Most people who tend to use manga download sites are usually looking for obscure unfinished series that'll probably hardly get any seeds.
That's out of my ability to answer for now. I'm not the one with the ability to host anything. The MT Admin confirmed that MangaTraders utilized 110 Terabytes of Download Bandwidth a month. Someone might be able to handle such a thing. Mind you, once this torrent goes out, people with such capabilities will want to get their hands on everything. So the faster our team can finish everything and get it all out, the sooner the rest of the internet can come out with their own solutions to this problem.
NYC, 50/25 Verizon FiOS. No clue about MT's server locations.
Took me ages just to find links.
Just try it. Seriously. The last of these scans went up in 2011. They're all over the place. All the remotely relevant torrents are dead.
I only found these while I was searching for other manga.
Links should be somewhere in this thread:
>Meanwhile on IRC, Daiz is plotting and succeeding to convince everyone to be under his command and for everyone to follow of his rules.
He's the best systemizer /a/ and the community have.
Yeah it's just a large community. If I hadn't known 4chan before, I probably would have spent my time there. Anonymity is definitely superior, except when it's the case of shitposting.
I could see the point for that in some cases, but when the original joke makes no sense in english, often it's necessary.
If it's discrete that's fine, if it's informative and relevant all the better.
I'd agree with Daiz on "TL - lol, he fell down" type stuff.
Daiz knows his shit, I'm more than fine with giving him more power.
/a/'s Groups to Destroy List:
Anybody else? This faggots must be taught a lesson.
Sending fake C&D notices to their competition causing them all to get shut down.
Anyone who uses pointless watermarks, anyone who downscales pages, anyone who uses txt speak or emoticons to replace netoyo abbreviations and SJIScats, anyone who puts in TL notes that aren't informative, anyone who has lower standards for everything than SaHa really, CR, digital manga licensors who exist only to send C&D notices such as Jmanga and Digital Manga Guild, anyone who imposes their moral standards such as Batoto and groups that drop manga for being "too loli", anyone who miscategorizes things based on western standards instead of japanese sales, and the Jews.
Is this 1.6 GB counting the BL (and doujin) shit or was it filtered out? I noticed filtyh same on batoto specifically as well as mangaupdates. Fuji's makes the mangaupdates category search system impracticable without disallowing yaoi/shounen ai/bl genres with their spamming of categories on yaoishit.
1.6 is nothing, I would definitely seed a complete torrent.
On the other topic of Nihei, have you seen those Sidonia scans? They are way too big for my 1080 monitor. Pic related.
I had a small typo, I am sorry for looking like a fool. HDD are super cheap, and going to end up cheaper. My manga folder is already 200 GB+ and I feel like a mangatraders torrent archive would be way more complete.
Are you sure you looked at the complete version? If you have an MT account, then it's there.
But it really doesn't matter much as long as you have the sense to not use the same password for other important accounts.
>mfw know secret ftp from hanging out in scanlator's irc channels
literally won't have any effect on me at all.
when #lurk went down that was much worse.
>Anyone who uses pointless watermarks,
Just this and I'll be a happy fag.
>decent looking pages but it has a watermark in every page in a different position each time
Never knew about it, I would believe it though. "The Company" a "scanlator group" (they only do Korean web comics) is one of the worst groups out there and does pretty much everything you listed and as you probably know are the owners of Batoto.
I dislike plenty: easygoing scans, village idiot, and most of all kisu kiss manga (not to be confused with KISS manga) are all at the top of my list for picking up dozens of new series every month and thinking for some reason they own or have a claim on "their project" while they take months between releases with a fucked up series prioritization system where great series are queued for FOTM/shit.
Kisu is probably the worst group that is still alive though and instead of just annoying me like the other two is pure cancer for the manga scene. The series are not great, and they have released version 6 of some of the chapters, but check out the versions by Kisu and other group for All You Need is Kill and the Accelerator manga. Yes, they are so bad another group chooses to take over series they do.
I feel like a secret agent, changing all my passwords so no hackers can get trough to me.
>mfw this is the most excitement I got in over two months
It's is absolutely disgusting that some groups use manga as a place to air their anger as they forever leave a record of their shit fit in the form of spiteful water marks for all the world to see forever.
Eh Accel is wrong though. The Raildex threads were working on it already since a few days after release, it's just that the editor took a while with the first chapter and so Kisu ended up beating him to the release.

When you are done downloading these TLR Darkness Tank Raws, you should create mediafire links for /a/.
788 GB downloaded.
Currently going at a rate of about 23.5GB/h
If things continue at this pace, I should be done by Friday evening!
Merry nightmares /a/.
So anyway, what would be the best way to keep manga up other than torrents? I've heard much about bitcon-blockchain-like file storage networks lately but all seem to be vaporware.
Don't be retarded, you can only "reverse" an MD5 hash by bruteforcing. GPU's can do billions per second so any widely used password pattern will get cracked very quickly, thanks to all the plaintext password leaks we've gotten.
But if your password is a random string of 20+ characters then it isn't going to be reversed anytime soon.
Actually there are reverse md5 lookup sites with tons of hashes already reversed, so if it's anything remotely common, it's probably already there.
Trying some from >>108703593 here at random give me results:
Well yeah, that's exactly what I stated in my point. But don't go around saying you can reverse hashing algorithms. It still fundamentally relies on bruteforce so anything long and random is infeasible to crack.
I so want to talk about password hashing algorithms and why md5, sha2 and so are not a good fit for them and people should switch to something like bcrypt (or wait for the password hashing contest to end) but this is not /g/
How could a web site make enough money to survive by doing this? People would not need to visit it at all.
It would be very easy to make this, a site with rss and magnet urls for torrents. But if I were to create this, it would need to pay for itself at least.
I am on your side, but it is sadly true. I read garbage too though, and realize a series that is released weekly can be enoyable to read. I mostly dislike the people who think one piss is an upper tier manga rather than the shit it is.
Nowadays it is all online readers. FMD is a godsend.
That's another problem, would scanlators upload themselves? I'd like it if there was a system of trusted users like nyaa has. Heck, they could be using nyaa already without the need for a new site.
Maybe us users need to start uploading to nyaa instead.
Except they don't, landwhale. How much of a regaing newfag are you.
The actual people ripping from MT were complaining about the hypocrisy of fujoshits uploading hentai onto MT and wasting their times and there is already talk of debloating the MT archive by removing yaoishit that isn't suppose to be there.
Stay delusional, landwhale. No one wnats to archive your yaoishit hentaishit that wasn't suppose to be on MT in the first place
>The actual people ripping from MT were complaining about the hypocrisy of fujoshits uploading hentai onto MT and wasting their times and there is already talk of debloating the MT archive by removing yaoishit that isn't suppose to be there.
I didn't see any of that on the irc, I'm going to need your source.
That was out of fairness. We've been through this many times. We were going to get everything off MT and that's what we will do. Searching for fujoshi secret clubs has nothing to do with MT so we don't give a fuck.
Some of the uploads were actually not allowed on MT to begin with.
>there is already talk of debloating the MT archive by removing yaoishit that isn't suppose to be there.
no there isn't, stop unnecessarily stirring up shit
I am okay with jumping through a few hoops to get decent quality scans and translations for free. It doesn't seem completely unreasonable that I have to dl from their website/read from their reader to a certain extent if I really want it. Most of the time I don't hoard/keep the files on my comp. Am I one of the few that feel this way?
>Most of the time I don't hoard/keep the files on my comp.
Can't really agree with this considering how volatile scanlator groups are. They could disappear a year later with their links going with them.
Thing is, groups close. Then you have the occasional group that likes to spring clean and out go the links to their older series that they dropped. And the new groups don't always repost them.
When that does happen, I am fucked. No lie. I know, but I just don't have the motivation to optimize my storage and organization. But as it is, I don't have a strong attachment but when it is gone, I am going to regret it.
I don't reeally want to make a new thread for something as small as this. Does anyone know if someone is ripping crunchyroll's manga? I wanna read love theory, but I don't wanna pay crunchyroll, nor do I wanna read it off mangafox. Mangaupdates only marks them as scanlators
>12 hours, an email, and another attempt at a signup later
>still no confirmation email from MU
I just want to get to work trying to salvage my watched list for fucks sake.
Is that why some of the other stuff where they were trying to create some sorta scanlator drama was removed from their releases? Was gonna post those but it was not there.
I think only a few were formed on /a/ or 4chan usually they are just made for a single series or chapter, but there are more than dozens that interact with /a/. Maybe I am biased but they also are nonshit groups.
Keep making excuses, fujoshit. If you lurked the threads since Day 1, you would have seem the rippers already complaining about the yaoishit that didn't belong on MT.
I guess it is too much to expect females to do something by themselves. They still need someone to hold their hand and spoonfeed even when archives exist.
take a look at this shit: http://www.batoto.net/read/_/221698/all-you-need-is-kill_ch2v2_by_kisu-kissmanga-scans-%E3%80%8Ckisu-kms%E3%80%8D/34
reminder: don't respond to this low-quality bait
>Is that why some of the other stuff where they were trying to create some sorta scanlator drama was removed from their releases?
Yep, the comments got deleted by mods and people were given warnings for pointing out why their scanlations sucked and calling it a flame war.
The thing about torrents is you can have a seedbox "server", but users can contribute to bandwidth. Also you can update a series' (or a master "MT") torrent, and while it would be a new torrent file you do not need to redownload the earlier chapters to seed them.
Wait, we're supposed to be at war with them? I thought they quit after the third chapter since they haven't released anything since then.
I don't mind waiting a day or two by the way.
>It doesn't seem completely unreasonable that I have to dl from their website/read from their reader to a certain extent if I really want it.
Sure, but why not just read on Kissmanga? This attitude is what hurts scanlations as a whole because even people that download fansubs just fine simply go to Mangafox. You’re scanlator and your release gets 20 downloads at most? Well why do you think it’s like that?
>Nobody wants to use your myspace account
I don’t know, I added yaoi anime and hentai to some dude’s hummingbird account just because. I don’t even feel bad about it, I see it as something educational. Don’t use the same password twice unless you really love Princess Princess.
Can you email me when and if you do find a way to get it over to me? I'll check daily
Or the manga gets licensed. I am fine with purchasing some nicer series but fuck paying the 100 dollars for 10 volumes of something mediocre.
Too bad crunchyroll and other localization paysites are so garbage. Not just the site restrictions like DRM, the marketing and most important the translations are juvenalized.
Despite torrents, there still won't be a site that aggregates recent downloads like MT did and keeps them available. Nyaa is full of hit-and-run and dead torrents.
>bakaBT does complete sets only
>No, they update whenever an "arc" finishes, and their definition is a bit loose
BakaBT allows incomplete sets provided that it is a long series that cannot be completed in a year from the current date you are considering to upload. That is the loose criteria from the jury process. Anything less than a year, and you'll see the jury review tell you to wait until it is done. Besides, that allows the scanlators and their affiliated sites the courtesy of distributing their stuff the way they want.
In the distant past, there were irate people on 4chan or other forums that said boxtorrents/BakaBT should hand the site over to others to run so that the retarded policy of complete sets can be eliminated (no more long delays). Those "fans" weren't really fans but mere anime/manga consumers using logic such as "I claim I can spend your money faster than you can, so you must hand over control of all your money to me even though you were the one that did the work."
Some scanlators leave the spreads as two different pages instead of one bigger one. When I read two pages at the same time the first page of the spread comes with the previous, normal page and it bugs me.
>that allows the scanlators and their affiliated sites the courtesy of distributing their stuff the way they want
And that is fucking cancer. Have you ever seen fansubbers complain about others hosting their work on for example XDCC bots?
Hopefully, MT had its faults but it had the best data base there is, and you could download complete tanks , I used to wait for a series to finish and then download the whole thing.
>Sending fake C&D notices to their competition causing them all to get shut down.
That's false. You are just that grudge-holding jerk telling more lies to make batoto look bad. You're the jerk that was in favor of the mainland china-owned mangafox making money by selling the work of scanlators. Batoto for a time used items from scanlators trying to fight mangafox with those watermarks. Some people got ultra angry at batoto for carrying items like that.
Mangafox is also part of a set of companies some of which counterfeit official anime merchandise and then distribute them to anime retail stores. That can make "official logo" merchandise a hit or miss sometimes because that official logo might be fake. But of course, the jerk doesn't care about things like that.
These grudge-holding manga "pseudo fan" on 4chan believes watermark is a crime sincerely (no lie, absolute true) worse than putting mass quantities people into ovens in real-life and killing them. At least some of their past rant threads against batoto seemed full of extreme anger and full of anger-management issues.
You can download without even making an account, so no.
I find their public tracker pretty questionable, since it’s a new one every month people without account can’t even seed if they want to. Torrent a file on 30th with the best of intentions and you’re basically doing hit and run.
Actually, maybe it's the same person who wrote those asinine rules. Same use of hyperbole and everything (comparing someone who hates watermarks with Nazis).
>Do you think that you would be grounded for life, and/or killed by your parents, if you were caught showing this to your 12 to 15-year-old sibling?
Yeah my mom freaked out when she saw the boobs but was totally fine with the all the gay sex.
Is that really what one of the rules states? It just screams underage American to me. I was also thinking the person you quoted is a Batoto mod too, but on sites like batoto you have certain fags who for some reason are zealous in defense of "their" site.. He sure went off on some funny tangents though.
I was told that the admins of Batoto do not truly care about the H stuff and if it were up to them they would leave it. The story is that they have to satisfy their advertisers so cannot host the risqué. Then again, TLRD is up there and removing that would also remove thousands of their daily pageviews so you be the judge.
How does these compare to honeyview3 in your opinions? I will be testing both of these out in the coming weeks, but honeyview3 works perfectly except that it really eats up my memory when running multiple instances. I like the smooth/sharpen filter honeyview has for when I have to resize stuff or for releases that were not properly cleaned.
That's the problem. They don't follow their own rules and leave shit up that, under their rules, would be banned. Any time anyone confronts them about it, they give some vague reply about how they interpret their own rules or they send their shills to do the talking for them (with hilarious results).
Also, it's great how they always deflect to mangafox. At least mangafox is honest about what they do. These bitches have some sort of holier-than-thou attitude about everything. It would be fine if they would just admit to being hypocrites or say "Sorry, we only allow gay sex" but they don't.
What are you trying to read, most newer (scanlated in last 5 years) series were edited to correctly show up in with the double page spreads.
Are you wanting double pages at all times like
Or just for the actual two page spreads like pic related.
I'm that anon, thanks man I was taking a nap
Watamote, Mujaki no Rakuen, JoJo have the two page spreads cut to two different images. And I'd like to read it like it was meant to, with even thethe single pages being in the original spreads.
Seriously, thanks. If there's anything else that you ripped from crunchy that you'd like to share it would be great.
No, you don't need to run anything. As soon as you have pip installed, you just run "pip install BeautifulSoup4". Pip then automatically fetches the files and installs them for you.
Afterwars, you can just run Manager.py with python.
Although I'm not familiar with how Python handles on Windows, that should be right. You can add the Batoto/KissManaga URL at the end of the query as well. If you omit it, it will prompt you for it.
-s and -e are optional. It's only if you want to download some chapters in a series.
If you only want to download a single chapter, just use the chapter URL (like http://www.batoto.net/read/_/248256/kantai-collection-kancolle-4-koma-comic-fubuki-ganbarimasu_ch40_by_zombies-ate-my-manga)
Because they aren't on any readers? They're only on compressed readers? Because I read faster than the servers load even with a caching script? Because it's more comfortable to read on my desktop reader? Screw reading several thousand pages online.
I DL my anime. Comparing manga scans to 1080p BD is completely different. Why the fuck do I need scans that are blown up 1000x a readable size? I'm not saying it's stupid to DL manga or something, I'm saying I don't see why people are flipping shit over it.
I think both of those come with Python3, so you don't have to install it separately.
You can't miss what you never had, right?
Most of the people steaming must be very young and not unknowing of the series released by groups long gone and what would have been their files too.
I leave /a/ for a week and somehow Mangatraders is hacked and shut down?
What the godamn fuck?
