Everything up to the start of the tourney was just so glorious, it had all the atmosphere, style, and pacing of something grand yet subtle.

But it's like Ryuko said, the scissor swords were not Isshin's Ultimate Weapon, it was her and Senketsu. They were created by Isshin Matoi and aimed by Satsuki Kiryuin. Even though Satsuki apologizes for treating her that way and obviously cares about her younger sister very much now that's essentially what she ended up being in the end.

He treated everyone as tools, and manipulated them all through revenge and misdirection, including Nudist Beach. He's no different than Ragyo, he's the Gendo to her Yui.

Oh well, at least they both survived and can lick each others emotional wounds now that this is all over. But yeah they essentially were just both weapons. Satsuki was supposed to slowly work against her mother over a 13 year old period, then she was supposed to eventually gain Ryuko under her wing and she was supposed to be Satsuki's ultimate weapon. Now, Satsuki's pride(combined the fact that she didn't have all the proper information either) made it so she thought she was supposed to do it herself, but no. Her weapon to kill Ragyo wasn't Bakuzan, it was Ryuko

I'm not an apologist, but that's essentially what Ryuko was. She says it herself, she's Isshin's Ultimate Weapon. Except she was aimed at Ragyo by Satsuki. Given the fact that Bakuzan was only a single sword and that Isshin knew you needed to cut from both sides it's likely that his intention was for Ryuko to be Satsuki's weapon against Ragyo. She was never supposed to attempt to cut her head off herself, which is why Satsuki's plan basically worked up until she got to the part where she needed to kill Ragyo.
She was supposed to train Ryuko, protects her and support her in the best way that she can. She did all of that.

FUNimation sucks massive amounts of balls. Can't translate for shit and as of recent their dubs are lower than shit tier. Consider yourselves lucky Aniplex USA is dubbing KLK instead.

Ryuko was technically not originally part of it, since Satsuki didn't know she existed. Her and the Devas were never going to be enough to kill Ragyo, Ryuko needs to be apart of it.

She and the Deva's did all that they were intended to do by Isshin, it's just that they weren't told that. They were led to believe they could actually succeed without Ryuko being the forefront of it, which is why the plan worked until it got to the point where Satsuki needed to kill Ragyo, she didn't have the right weapon for it so it didn't work.

He either planned the entire show or it was just sheer dumb luck on his part that they met each other, because they wouldn't have been able to do this without the other one.

I hated Senzu beans more than SSJ. SSJ would've probably upset me more if the rest of the DB cast hadn't already been relegated to sideline gawking by Namek. But honestly, DBZ was never about the sidecharacters. Toriyama used them well enough in the original manga (lets face it, Goku was cute but the side characters carried that series pretty hard) but once he moved on to Z, he had a bloated cast of cameo characters that he had no real use for.

SSJ would've been a nice place to end the series, being pretty much the limit to how far you could develop Goku's character, but the fact that it kept going forced him to undermine that climax by arbitrarily handing the powerup to any character that he needed to be relevant for the next arc.

There were a lot of things wrong with how SSJ, but SSJ itself wasn't that big of a problem. Fiber hybrids was just a cop-out

Junketsu arc was the big goddam climax to Ryuko's character arc where she is forced to make the final choice about what's really important to her. I thought the transformations were a neat gimmick and an interesting way to solve a lot of the battles, although you're right that It was so painfully obvious after Gamagoori that Ryuuko completely outclassed the Devas that the Nonon fight wasn't very interesting as a result.

I would've liked if She had been less of a punching bag in some of the early fights, because they showed the amount of damage she could sustain to completely out-strip all of her opponents, most of which she could instantly defeat with her named-attack. Turning fights into a waiting game where she tanks through all of their attacks until she sees the opening to one-shot them isn't exactly the most interesting approach.

So I guess making Ryuuko invincible was a mistake they made right from the start. They did kind of overdid it though with her huge powerup in the rebellion and most-wakeup, and I still don't like the fact that they showed the villains to be invincible so far from the conclusion. It's hard to care about Ryuuko and Nui fighting when you know neither of them can really kill each other and no damage sustained or outcomes of the fight will persist for more than an episode.

Actually, I think you might have a point. See, I never found Ryuuko to be particularly engaging early on. But I always saw her as the "most" normal of the cast early on. I actually started to like Ryuuko during the Battlefield Trip when it seemed like she was growing as a person. But then they completely shit on all that growth after timeskip and she's the most annoying thing on screen for 3 episodes. Doesn't help either that the show essentially stops until she's done being a retard.

Truth be told I was a Satsukifag for most of the series. Back when it looked as though you could pick one or the other and still come out satisfied.

Not him, I did love Ryuuko (I still like her) but I think her character got boring after a while. Part of the reason why some people say the bakemono arc and the final episodes are bad, is because we didn't really see anything new from the characters. Ryuuko loses it, Mako and Senketsu help her, Satsuki is her usual self, etc. I wanted to see something new from them, and the whole clothing-is-clothing-we're-not-making-any-sense! was just terrible.

Yeah ironically, Satsuki was the one who grew the most as a character during Ryuuko's supposedly climactic arc.

I felt like the problem with the wedding dress bit was just that it was like the 3rd time that Ryuuko had lost her way and she snapped pout of it the same way she had both times previous. Sure, the stakes were higher, but ultimately we knew exactly how it was going to play out because it had already played out several times. Ryuuko gets angsty, Ryuuko gets angry, Ryuuko loses her way, she fights Satsuki and then Mako and Senketsu fix her by reminding her she has friends. It's almost a formula by that point and it was tiring knowing that she was being stupid for the same old reasons and that she'd be fixed in the same old way.

They tried the bait and switch with Mako but it was already obvious by that point that Mako was immune to deathflags so in the end everything lacked impact and seemed too familiar.

Up until that point Satsuki had always thought Ryuko's Way was a load of shit, a fairy tale is what she called it. That she, of all people, accepted Senketsu as a person and that they both trusted each other to save Ryuko, that's the proof that Ryuko's Way wasn't wrong. It's what the whole shows all about.

It...wasn't? It wasn't significant in battle, but psychologically for Ryuko and Satsuki it was. Hell Ryuko was basically ready to forgive her after she did that anyways, she just wanted a punch because she's a delinquent and that's how she settles things. Satsuki took it a step further.
