it's really stable and much less bloated and shitty as CUDA. the source code is C like, and more similar to GL shaders. it works on pretty much any graphics card as long as it supports the features you require in your code, unlike CUDA which is Nvidia only. i think it even works on the CPU if you want to support that and avoid writing two different implementations.

ChaosGroup say to have ported VRay RT (CUDA) to CPU with relative ease for debugging purposes and as a result are now working on hybrid RT that uses both CPU and GPU.
