Do you consider people who do 3D art "talentless" and "they do it because they can't draw"? I've been seeing people say this a lot lately and it bugs me.
>>
>>556634
WOW whos work is this, this hair work is AMAZING...
>>
>>556636
Nevermind Found him,
your question is fucking dumb... "people" say many things, it does not mean that you should do threads about all of them
>>
There's one more dimension than some dumb drawer.

Drawists can't wrap their heads around 3 dimensions.
>>
>>556634
They are art but not necessarily in the same category. It's like comparing a painting and a sculpture; you shouldn't judge them on the same ground.
>>
>>556641
>Drawists can't wrap their heads around 3 dimensions.

I hope you're just pretending to be stupid.

>been seeing people say this a lot
People says a lot of crap all the time about everything.
Bottom line: if you can make money with your art, then it´s good, even if it isn´t.
Hater´s gonna hate and all that.
>>
>>556642
2d art is irrelevant now with zbrush and modo and vr tools
>>
>>556645
I hope you're just pretending to not recognize jokes. xD

Are you telling me you're making money with that, duck-san?

that drawing actually has a bit of appeal. WHAT WENT WRONG?

how is she supposed to raise her arms in the drawing, is it elastic or something? does her whole bra thing rise up? how are the folds even existing in the skirt? why even give her a sword when she can't raise her arms? why does she have mexican revolution hair buns? why is she wearing fishnets with an exposed pussy this doesn't look like a porn drawing? wh

This is the most disgusting thing I have seen on this website. None of it makes sense, the colors and shapes are utterly absurd, and its the most overdone subject.

i love you too anons.
>>

You had the reference right in front of you, why did you get the color of the eyes and lips wrong? The eyes are also desperately missing highlights, they look flat and empty and she looks like she could snap my neck if I look at her funny.

Also, you modeled in eyelashes but for some reason eyebrows were unattainable? And if your model is already a done deal, don't fucking post them on this t-pose with their mouths open, you're making it look fucking horrifying. Pose them into position and *then* post pictures.

Take the glossiness of the hair WAY down and the roughness WAY up. It looks like a queer headcrab is eating her brains which is why she has that retarded look on her face. You can make the nose a bit fatter too, even that Pixar thread I see you posting on has images with their characters and it's not an almost squished nose, it has a bit of volume on it.

Not trying to be mean, I see you posting your work on a ton of threads and I don't know if you're serious or not. You're probably not serious but if you are, Christ almighty get your shit together, you can make your models a dozen times better by fixing some small things with them.
>>
>>556668
you sound like dumb fuck, 10 yr old, who's trying to be smart..

I'm not even anon who posted that shit, but you are 10 x worse than him
>>
>>556814
actually i'm very smart and my balls are massive from all the girls i have sex with, real girls not 3d ones
>>

>>
>>556634
>consider people who do 3D art "talentless" and "they do it because they can't draw
that is retarded thing to say

I can draw pretty good, above average when i am in the mood. 3d is not easy, perfect texture mapping and creating perfect model is no joke. i am at intermediate level at 3d.
>>
>>556816
>real girls not 3d ones
so the 2d ones?
>>
>>556634
To make 2d you need to know how to draw, to make 3d you just press a button and it makes itself.
Seems rather obvious.
>>
>>556836
the 4d ones

this dick only fucks big tittied shifting meat tesseracts from omicron
>>
>>556810
mmm... nah, i like the way it is.
Not gonna change it.
Make a better one and show me, i might change my opinion them. Influence and all that.
>>
>>556843
To make successful bait you need it to be believable, anon.
>>
>>556646
Took me a while to realize that's a render, not a chinese bootleg action figurine.
Why the fuck did you go through all that trouble of modelling, if you weren't even going to pose it?
Also that's possibly the dumbest character design I have ever seen. Two nukes were not enough.
>>
>>556634
3D does most of the shit that makes drawing difficult for you, it's more about learning a toolset. Sculpting a dude and having the renderer work out all the foreshortening and light interaction is a cakewalk compared to trying to draw the same thing at an anywhere near decent level.

Being easier doesn't make it "talentless", though. Sculpting circumvents the same problems and you don't see anyone calling sculptors talentless. It's the "Digital art isn't real art u just hit a butten" art luddite argument all over again.
>>
Drawing require coordination and visualization skills, plus dexterity.
3D is basically about learning some software by heart, plus some visualization skills and even a bit of coordination & dexterity when it comes to sculpting,
In the end, drawing is more a plastic-artistic complexity while 3D is more on the technical-artistic.
It is accurate to say that drawing produce more real life skills as 3D without a computer and software makes you powerless, while a 2d artist will have competences he can use in natural environnements as long as he has a plane surface and some ink (which both are obtainable easily).
Also the more 3D software and computer get good, the less will it be complex, while drawing will remain mostly as complex because all the core skills are on you and not on the computer.
As any art, 3D art is influenced by talent, but it is more technical than artistic in comparison to 2D.
A 2 artist may be good, but if he has trouble on the technical side (learning software and their workflow), he will have troubles in 3D, as much a 3D artist will have troubles in 2D and complex sculpting if he's not confident in his artistic skills.
>>
>>556634
3d digital art is impressive, 2d digital art is fucking trash compared to real art though, as it's 100% talentless because all the corner cutting
>>
>>557207
>traditional artists don't cut corners
>cutting corners means no talent
2/10 for making me respond
>>
>>557174
software can bolster 2d just as much as it bolsters 3d, though. like someone else pointed out, the real life equivalent of 3d is sculpting. anyway photoshop is a powerful tool that gives you access to all kinds of useful tools that don't exist irl and i think most artists these days take advantage of this. some 2d artists even use 3d software to help them with perspective and things like that. so i don't think the line between the two is as clear as you make it out to be.
>>
>>557212
>the real life equivalent of 3d is sculpting
you what mate? 3d is about animated sculpting, camera angles, cuts
>>
>>557213
Sculpting, puppeteering and cinematography maybe?

CG really is its own thing and this is a silly discussion

2D digital art shortcut:
Select a thing and move and/or stretch it about to save a bit of time on correcting a mistake. You still have to have all the requisite knowledge to make it look "right" to make use of this.
Utilize photographs or textures in your work that'll look horrible and out of place if you don't have the knowledge of lighting and perspective required to manipulate them properly.
Use 3D to circumvent drawing perspective instead of learning perspective skills. You still need some knowledge of perspective to do this, as you will likely be adding details that still need to be properly lit and in perspective. It's also slower than just knowing perspective. Also barely anybody seriously does this outside of concept art paintovers.

3D digital art shortcut:
Use a program that turns a bunch of nodes and parameters into a photorealistic material complete with specularity and height data that you'd previously have to paint, model+bake or photosource yourself, entirely circumventing not only the time and effort that would've been necessary to do the same thing around 10 years ago but also any real skill that would've previously been involved in the process as well, as all skills that are relevant to this process involve learning to use the software itself and practically nothing else.
Click button, model is now covered in near-photorealistic fur when you render it.
Use a program that lets you visually edit a heightmap that it then turns into a realistic landscape complete with foliage and procedurally generated textures.
Use 3D at all, circumventing any need to know anything about visualizing light or form/perspective, the two hard to master skills that create the clear line between 3D and any form of 2D since the only shortcut that can be made to circumvent these completely is 3D rendering itself. You literally cannot completely circumvent these without going completely 3D.
>>
>>557224
Also in 3D you can do compositing to mix real life elements (like people on green screens) while mixing real life things with 2D drawings seems impossible.
>>
>>557281
>mixing real life things with 2D drawings

Matte painting. You're describing matte painting.
>>
>>556634
It's easy to talk about something you know nothing about.

Until I started taking 3d classes I never really understood that everything is made from scratch, essentially. ALL the sounds, lighting, effects, motions. Everything is done on purpose and for a reason. I see it as creating worlds.

Besides, who gives a fuck about what some dumb cunt thinks about something they've never done? They're probably the same person who have an instagram account and a $1,000 cam their parent's bought them cause they wanna major in photography.

Stop giving a shit about people and the ones who actually give a fuck will be the only ones left is what I say
>>
>>556634

I do both 3D and digital painting and heres my 2 cents - there are overlapping areas sure. Like the need to have a basic understanding of how light bounces around etc. but that's about it.

- 3D is way more technical and requires you to learn a lot about how the program works. Very often you need to learn your way around new software etc.

- Drawing is harder in the beginning, but after a certain point it becomes more about training your brain to do autopilot so the images in your head start coming out on paper without much mental effort.

When drawings come out naturally is where it becomes fun, but getting to that point is kind of a miserable experience. Many people quit there, intimidated by the effort required and by comparing themselves to experienced artists. 3D on the other hand does some of the heavy lifting for you from the beginning and does better to entice you into delving deeper into it.

Btw, 2D artists say that because they're major jelly of how realistic and beautiful 3D can be. "Bah they are all amateurs, the computer does everything" but really.. it doesn't. Ask them to show their 3D portfolio if it's so easy and anyone can do it...
