What are some "cheap" builds for render farms. I primarily use Blender cycles and Daz with Iray.
Seeing as how those are all about CUDA cores, should I just stack as many 980s or titans as I can?
Start a new build with dual 12 core opterons?
Single Xeon?

Get as many GPUs as you can with as many cores as possible. Stack them to the ceiling.

I bet this shit runs building demolition simulations in real time

They are cancerous tumors. Show some respect. RIP OP model.

/aco/ does, we just create it here.
Also pose it poorly.

I wish we had some of those 3d porn artists here like Y3DF and Kalevra or El4stic. I can learn so much from them.
There's supposed to be some fancy new video cards this year from both AMD and Nvidia. Any word on their rendering powers?
>>513187
There isn't much info, which probably is so that people don't stop buying current gen cards
Considering they're going from 28nm to 16/14nm you can expect 2-3x times the performance per watt
>>513216
you'll never get more than 25% increase in real speed
>>513221
The shrink makes chips 8x smaller though
What's the most cuda core bang for the buck right now?
>>513015
OP, have you looked into cloud based CPU rendering for Blender?
I'm too lazy to link you the thread directly but there's a thread on blenderartists forum detailing a plugin that works with Amazon cloud and lets you look at the spot price for CPU computing at any given time.

What GPUs is everyone using here?
980 at home, 950m on laptop.
>mfw waiting for preview renders on laptop.
>>514362
I'm probably going to get a 980 Ti to replace the ancient shit that I'm using now, then I'll actually be able to do GPU renders.
How much does VRAM impact rendering anyway? Would 6 GB allow for reasonably large/detailed scenes?
>>514370
It depends on the renderer. For some, vram is the most important aspect.
>>514370
Depends on render engine I guess. Using Cycles with blender I only ever run out of video memory when testing out poorly converted daz studio figures with 99999 texture maps

Kek'd.
