I just noticed a glaring issue while looking at my own screenshot. It seems there's some kind of interlacing going on with my wallpaper on my phone, but it's only visible after I set it. In other words, the image is flawless in the gallery but when looking at my homescreen the flaws are present. Also, it seems that the image becomes more washed out than in the original in certain parts.

Anyone got ideas or suggestions as to how to fix this?

Pic related is what I'm noticing. Left side is original while right side is what it looks like on my phone.

I haven't riced in a little over a year. You might recognize this design I had before with the Momiji hugging a sword as the background. Something feels different than it used to be though. I can't put my finger on it.

So, this is my first setup with KLWP so i'm still very new to this.

The first screen is a clock with an RSS feed for showing random HSK1&HSK2 words, weather, and an app launcher (Clover, Memrise, Chrome, music, chatting). Left screen is a calendar with my schedule and right screen is a simple music screen.

I just redid my rice and want to know what I can improve. I need to recolor the clock and calendar, but I'm not really sure what colors to do. also, I'm somewhat iffy on the color of the banners, just because it may be too light.

Well what I'm saying is that if your homescreen doesn't have much function apart from telling you some information it might as well be a lockscreen, and if you bring up your app draw every time you want to open an app it might as well be IOS where all the apps are on the homescreen.

Any combination of calendar, clock, battery, day of the week, rss feed, weather maybe aim for about 5-8 apps. Keep it simple and coherent and avoid the colour #000000

I don't ever look at the clock on my homescreen so most of the time I don't have it there, I never look at any battery widgets I create so I don't bother with them, knowing the day of the week and all that might not be useful for you as it certainly wasn't for me (I can work that shit out in my head).

Don't feel like you need useless information on your homescreen to fill up space and make it functional. That sort of thinking is what ruins rainmeter desktops for most people, for instance.

You just need an image of a nixie tube with no numbers lit up then make the part where the numbers are semi transparent so you keep the texture of the mesh and stuff then put the numbers underneath then a dark background under that.

One problem you might have to work out will be the orange glow on numbers that aren't lit up, say if you had 4 spaces but only displayed 1:05, although you could just leave the glow on all of them and display it as 01:05

You will also realize that a lot of ricing involves photoshopping shapes on a wall rather than creating them on the cell phone so you'll probably want a program for that too. Find a icon pack that's not total shit (etc looks like a 5 yrs old hipster drawings of coffee mugs and chrome icons) and you will probably end up with something we can critique on.

You get those results by working towards them, gradually learn things step by step.

Look at things other people have created and try to mimic those step by step on your own, once you run into more complex things,ask questions that you will understand the answers to.

A good start is getting an app for making widgets (Zooper etc) and playing around with that until you feel you have a couple of components that look good together. Then find a wallpaper that matches and voila, we have something we can critique on and you hopefully learned SOMETHING along the process.

Fix those apps, they look very messy right not and not very good without a clear distinction of where they should be. Everything looks kinda squished together ATM with the smiley taking up a lot of space that could be used For something more productive (or allow better formatting for other things). Consider adding a drop shadow or something to make that image look less rough on your drawer.
The font is pretty appropriate but ALWAYS have a matching font, that Å should be removed if your font pack doesn't cover it.

Altogether it's definitely salvageable and you have a pretty good image plus color choice (consider making it a bit darker red), I don't like numeral ratings as they can be arbitrary, but i think you should have a go at my suggestions and I you will probably notice the differences.

The image is pretty good (altough it is pretty badly cut out at the plate) but mostly everything else about that rice is pretty confusingly put together.

Regarding colors 1. I would consider a color set matching with her dress since that is the most dominant color 2. Remove the orange, it doesn't fit with the remaining rice in any way 3. Choose preferably one color as the "UI" color (drawers, clock etc), right now you have black, white and orange.

I would also consider editing the banner to include the icons and drawer on the lower right side so it doesn't feel cut out from the rest of the rice.

You should also seriously rethink that font, I made the mistake of thinking that font matched with everything before and it really doesn't work with anything that's not low poly or pixel art.

Overall you show that you know some tinkering skill but you should make a serious effort into making a more cohesive design as right now it feels very confusingly put together.

Really nice, but the way the music player box connects to the top kinda throws it off I think (given the larger margin-bottom the bottom box has). I think I'm done like ACTUALLY ricing. I've gone stock Android, Nexus 6P, no rooting or anything. I'm not gonna lie, having a phone that just werks is pretty sweet. That basically transfers to ricing as well, I think I'm going to just make wallpapers now.
