I finished the Trainer Challenge and then put the game down because I had no cards and couldn't be bothered to memorize a million different Pokemon and their abilities. Also because Theme Mode is dominated by Hidden Moon and literally every game is a mirror match so fuck that.

Theme is boring regardless of who is playing what, but to each their own I suppose, I sure won't complain about more discussion in the general. It's really not that hard to get into though anon. I've been playing this game for about 3 months and I have 3 Leles, all traded for, and 2 mostly functional decks for standard post-rotation. Hell a friend of mine invested $20 into the game to start when BUS dropped and had everything for his deck but the Leles after 2 days. I'm currently in the process of trying to unload a bunch of reverse holo and rogue deck cards for bonus packs and I've made 10 over the last 2 days. Flipping packs isn't hard.
I mean sure, I pulled 3 untradable Alolan Ninetales GX which basically handed me a deck, but the card is pretty cheap anyways at 2 packs. You're never going to get anywhere unless you at least put forth a little effort.

Check the OP, then check the old thread
once you're here ctrl+f "flip" and you'll find a conversation about flipping packs and how to do it.

That "skill" will help you to get any cards and build any decks you want. starting with BUS is also amazing because they're overvalued as fuck right now and you can make quick and great profits out of them.

There are literally some examples of what trades to do in the old thread too by the way. Follow them and you'll be able to hoard some packs in a reasonnable time. Then you get your Leles this way. You can probably get one for something between 14 and 17 BUS right now, which is laughably low compared to the value BUS will have in a few weeks.

Also keep this as a reminder: always make your own offers on the public market.

It depends on the metagame trends. Look up "Zoroark" in the old thread and "Octillery" to give you an idea.

Basically: if something works IRL, it's gonna be popular online, especially if it's something new. If something is expected to have a resurgence in the meta, it's gonna work too (example: current interest in Metagross to prepare for the onslaught of Gardy).

For the Espeon trade, look the market value. No truer words have been spoken. Their client is so clunky that it's obvious that it's been lazily put together. It bothers me to no end that the ability to filter and sort your trade searches is so bad that you can't even order newest trades first. They give you challenges that your opponents refuse to let you complete. It's a minor concern, but there's also zero confirmation on things like the end turn button and so if you bump it by accident while trying to click your discard you have just fucked yourself over. They really need to do some quality of life improvements on the damn thing but it's pretty obvious that it's only secondary to the physical game and they do not care.

The locked will be opened first. A trick you can use is make a really shitty offer nobody would ever accept. Your 5 or so boosters for x5 Plasma Freeze Ultra Ball. Use up all your boosters in that trade. now they are are locked. Then open packs. you will not be able to open packs that are up in a trade, just the locked packs.
You could do a private trade which costs no tokens, just be careful not spam somebody as they could report you.You can make the trade impossible to complete as well; unreleased promo like the tapu lele promo as of now

There is actually a function for this in the case of connection disconnects. In tournaments if a player disconnects the game will continue on their end and give about a 30 seconds to make a play. If not the turn ends. The game well not end even if the player is not there, even if they never log in. This offline continuation mode can happen in vs mode too. They cannot reconnect but the game still goes on, just the disconnected player does nothing for the rest of the game. Why doesnt this feature work for concedes? They said its something about bots abusing it for rewards.

After all this talk about flipping cards cards and packs I was intrigued but I decided I'd give it a shot, being a bit of a noob this could've gone much worse.

You never look for trades. Especially as a newer player. You make your own trades. Set your own prices. Then you just wait. Now, you can check public to see your competition, what they sell their stuff at.

Dont get trapped by the GX for GX or EX for an EX offers. Not all cards are created equal. Good lesson for life in general. Let us take Metagross GX for example. Buy for 1-2 packs, sell for 3-4 packs. very easy you make 1 -2 pack profit and the demand for metagross is consistent. You may want to sell that gard as of right now, then pick it up as the price goes down in a 2 weeks or so. No point in having 1 Gard anyways. Most important check prices through the link up at the top. Market changes considerably. Lets say metagross makes it to the finals in worlds? Its price will double maybe triple for a few weeks. Follow events, youtubers see what the latest flavor of the month deck is and sell from there

Everyone has a shitty, inconsistent deck. Most games are decided by luck of the draw rather than actual skill level. Some decks are better than others, but for the most part everyone is on the same level. Don't worry about it, just play and have fun.

The people you are playing against are here to play the game, same as you. Don't worry about losing, everyone loses sometimes. Even if your deck is a shitty pile of cards, playing against real people is a better way to get a feel for how the game is supposed to be played because you can watch their moves, see how their combos work, and learn how to enact/counter those combos yourself. Even if your deck isn't a shitty pile of cards, you'll still lose on occasion because certain decks will just flat out counter you or you'll draw dead hands. Everyone loses. It's learning from your losses that is the important bit.

you can get about 10 trainers including acerola/guzma with 1 pikachu pack. ask for 2 acerola, 2 guzma, 2 something else etc. theme decks are a waste purely for getting staples. Trading is not inconsistent. Your tokens are incredibly important, but it is how you use them that matters. By the way all the theme decks are incredibly bad for standard format. Any staples you want can be gotten with pikachu packs. But you dont have to take my advice. it takes a bit longer of course but trading pays off.

Gem purchases are only available in Canada, and as far as I'm aware it's the same as the regular store except they give you the option of buying with Gems instead of with Coins, which makes whatever you buy tradeable. Gems are expensive for what you get, so not many people bother buying things unless they're immediately worthwhile, like otherwise unavailable promo cards. There's a few things, like the Ancient Powers set, that were only available briefly, and because it didn't contain anything really notable, not many people bothered buying it. Victini becomes less useful as the number of flips increase.

With just one flip, you go from 50% heads to 75% and have zero chance of getting a result that is worse than the first (unless you are really dumb, that is).

With 5 coins, the chances of getting all heads are 3.125%, normally.

Hi total newfag here, I started playing before 3 weeks and looked for a decent budget deck, netdecked this Lapras deck and it's working pretty good. I want to improve it now that I have more cards, can you recommend me what to change?

I have 3 Sun and Moon packs left to trade, and plenty of Cards from card openings that I can't trade.

The best advice I have for you is to run another deck, the point of this Lapras deck is to fatigue players out of resources.

The most you could change is to take out one Lysander and an Olympia for two Guzma. Other than that the deck list is made to run as it is as a fatigue machine. The deck itself isn't that strong nowadays since fatigue doesn't work since so many decks like Gard can ramp themselves in one turn so your fatigue idea doesn't work.

It worked in the meta where darkrai was good but nowadays it's not in a good spot.

I have an Aerodactyl. It says you can only put it on your bench with the effect of Old Amber Aerodactyl (an Item). That Item says to search through the bottom seven cards of the deck, and take the Aerodactyl if it is there.

My question is, what happens if you get Aerodactyl in your hand through some other means? What if you draw or are dealt it at the beginning of the game? Does that mean you can never play it unless you find some way to get it back in the deck, and then get it with Old Amber Aerodactyl?

If all you need is Lele sure go ahead and pray for a locked lele. I dont know what your luck is like but locked packs have terrible pull ratios. The safest way is to get pikachu avatar packs 55 tokens each then flip into guardians rising. Takes a long time but thats how you free to play. Theme tournaments that use tokens for cost is another great way but again you have variance heavily against you as theme deck is who draws better.Nothing you can do about drawing7 energy in your starting hand. It's better to have some support than none at all. They could just ban problematic cards in terms of rulings (Fossil Ditto comes to mind) and make generic erratas for each block, to make them better compatible with the current format.

Alright faggots. Im looking for a sub 5 minute deck to grind the vs rewards. 10 minute average game is 110 minutes nearly 2 hours just for 5 mystery boxes. I only care about tokens and can build any deck in any format so whats the fastest way to win?

Are any of the Black & White Theme Decks relatively good?
Blue Assault seems like the best of the three but it doesn't look better than many of my other theme decks.

When they were the most recent decks they were decent, but as is usually the case with the theme decks power creep kinda rendered them obsolete.
