man the layout looks fine but your bg is a colorful mess

tone down the opacity so people can focus more on the things over it instead

Anon doing his first Nuzlocke, here! (I really gotta come up with some pseudo-name or nickname or something.)

I didn't have time to update my team picture thing, before work.

My current team is Poliwhirl, Vileplume, Primeape, Dodrio, Hypno, and Wigglytuff.

I finally evolved Gloom, and I'm just going to keep Poliwhirl unevolved because I like how fat and bouncy he looks. He should be fine as long as he's leveled properly and I'm careful.

I just completed Sabrina and Koga's gyms very easily. I don't know why, but I thought they used to give me a lot of trouble. I was completely sideswiped by Blue showing up in Silph Co. Forgot all about that shit. Dodrio made quick work of him though.

Primeape is still an unstoppable rape machine, though. Whenever it comes time to grind a bit with him, I'm always surprised at how he sweeps teams. Even when hitting Poison or Psychic mons, it's rare that he doesn't put them in the red with one shot or completely ohko.

Up next, I'm gonna let Vileplume tear through water mons on the way to cinnabar island. And then Blaine...
>>
>>33019821
Good going Anon, looks like a decent team. Keep it up.

ANONS HELP ASAP

Before League team, who should I use? (Skarmory is fucking Modest of all things)
>>
>>33019964
Not sure which game, but I think ORAS.
If so Machoke can put in work against 2/4 E4 because Dark and Ice. Azumarill can do in work against Drake because fairy types plus if it's Huge Power that thing will just wreck ship.
>>
>>33019981
It is Thick Fat. And the Machoke is Bold.

I had no luck with natures this time around. Camerupt is Sassy (making it slow as hell), Delcatty is Quiet (used Super Training in it so it wouldn't die right in the start, also my biggest sis/bro), Wailord is Brave and Banette Relaxed. Roserade is my one and only salvation being Timid and holding a Black Sludge.
>>
>>33020048
I am so sorry, that sounds horrible aside from Roserade.
>>
>>33020048
What about that Manectric?
>>
Just finished up PokeStar, on to Castelia! Hoping I get a Grimer in the sewers but we all know that's not happening.
>>
Holy goddamn shit, Wayward Cave in Platinum nearly killed half my team from wild encounters alone. The Gabite I succeeded in catching got my Monferno, Graveler, Bibarel, Psyduck and Luxio all into the yellow in one shot with that damned Dragon Rage. Took 10 balls to catch it. Then three steps away from the exit escorting Miri an encounter I couldn't run away from had a Geodude Self-Destruct and leave my Monferno with 2 HP. Nearly shat myself.

Not grinding, but there's so many trainers between Eterna and Hearthome, that I'm going to be overleveled for Fatina. Already at 26 for all but one, haven't even gotten into Mt.Coronet.
>>
>>33020155
Atleast you got out alive. But damn.
>>
>>33020118
I think I'll use it. Going to look for Ice Beam TM and see if Lunatone isn't also useful.
>>
Anyone who says X and Y are easy Nuzlockes are overleveling casuals or outright liars. This shit makes Platinum look like Gold and Silver.

God cunting dammit.
>>
>>33020894
you're just bad
x and y give you tools every single step to make the game a breeze. unless you handicap yourself severely, this shit is easier than emerald
>>
>>33021141
I don't do too much. No gift mons, level limit based on next gym leader, no items in battle, no Amie. Same rules I play every Locke by, And I've beaten every main series game besides X/Y and HG/SS doing so
>>
>>33021256
I agree with you, Rayze. If you're not using exp share and grinding to a target level before setting out, it can be hard. I'd say it also depends upon what you're getting in each area, too. It could be a cakewalk or a complete slaughter depending on what your random encounters are. Caves are always shit, too.
>>
And for the grand reveal of what pissed me off: Galadriel, my starting Delphox, has fallen. It's my own fault, though. I've calmed down enough to accept that. Left her in against a Liepard that I thought she could comfortably one-shot with Flamethrower. Damn thing survived with a sliver left, and responded with Assurance. I'm not big on anyone I have in the box, at least not as a replacement for Galadriel. I might go get my Routes 15, 16, and Lost Hotel encounters before I pick a replacement. Wouldn't mind a Murkrow, to be honest.
>>
>>33021467
Damn, that really sucks to hear. Good luck with the encounters.
>>
>>33021467
Heart of the cards, bruh. Good luck on finding something decent.
>>
>>33021476
Thanks.

For some reason it won't let me post my updated layout. It keeps telling me that the system thinks it's spam.
>>
Platinum Randomizer anon here; wiped at Volkner. He was still an electric gym, but he killed Cala the Cubone with an Electrode explosion. Then it just went to hell from there.

#triggered

After opening with a Beautifly, Gym Leader Mallorie (Norman) used a Xatu and a Togetic.

Oooh, but you know something had to take place of his Slaking!

THE SLIMY CUNT HAD A MOTHER FUCKING DRAGONITE

The ONLY reason, the ONLY reason I came out with so little damage is because after it ate its Sitrus Berry, an Aurora Beam brought it to yellow, but Mallorie didn't heal and a miracle crit killed it.

For fucks sake, that Ampharos was a beast... It was my desert catch, it only got trained up before dying in its first major fight. It OKHO'd everything before being Slammed to death.

Send your pokeprayers.
>>
>>33022414
F

That's amazing you got away with only one death, considering your team, against a Dragonite.

Also, general question: how is ORAS to nuzlocke, no EXP share, set, etc. normal rules? Relative to other games.
>>
>>33020155
Before going up against Fantina I realized absolutely nobody on my team could tank or kill Mismagius, so I trained up my Magikarp to a Gyarados and Bite swept. Damned Confuse Ray made it dicey, though. Also, fuck Teleport. I've missed an Abra and Ralts because of it. And just accidentally killed my Lost Tower encounter in Gastly.

Still haven't lost anyone yet, but I've been very cautious. Had many close calls in the red.
>>
>>33021485
A thought. Maybe the image is too similar to my others, and that's why it's calling it spam. Let's rearrange some things.
>>
>>33022802
Goddamn fucking critical hits. After my swell lick catching Scyther on the route above Solaceon, the next route over I encounter Lickitung just to crit it dead. That's 4 missed captures now.
>>
>>33023037
The rearrange actually didn't work, but then I changed the title of the image. Apparently the variation of "rest well doggo" that I used is considered spam.

Anyway, since this I have caught a Murkrow, and though I can't get a Dusk Stone quite yet, I'll keep her on the team for now.

Just finished Pokemon Moon and with a lack of stuff to do, I've decided to try a Nuzlocke on Pokemon Sun. I have no idea how hard that is and I've never done one before so this should be an interesting experience. Wish me luck, gentleman. I'll make an image eventually.

Here's my starter image and what I'm planning. I'm going to allow PokeMarts and PokeCenters to give myself a little bit of a break for my first one. I'm also gonna catch the first pokemon I can, get it to level 5, and box my starter. Shouldn't be too big of a problem since I usually box my starter anyway.
>>
>>33024288
No pikipek clause? It's literally guaranteed to be your first encounter. Like Pidgey in Y/X
>>
>>33024243
Was planning to add some screenshots there. Since it's a fairly new and unknown romhack. Might give some wtf moments.

Like Popplio learning Psychic Fang at level 6, and the move description being from High Jump Kick
>>
>>33024319
That's actually a nice idea, showing people what happens in that romhack.
>>
>>33024315
Didn't really think about that. Pikipek may be my default starter. I never used Toucannon in my Moon playthrough, so I'm okay with that. It learns Rock Smash and the first trial is weak to fighting, so hopefully that will help. I'm also going to allow trades (I don't really consider that a gift pokemon), so if I get lucky I can get Machop pretty early as well.
>>
What is the best way to randomize? I randomized stats, types and movesets but I keep getting my shit pushed in with lvl 4 pokemon with blizzard and other bullshit.
>>
>>33024473
The best way is not to randomize stats and types. That's like asking to be killed 24/7.
Trainers, Wild Pokemon, Items & Moves are all fine to randomize.
>>
>>33024473
i have two randomizer settings
one that just randomize starters, wild pokemon (1-by-1 area catch em all), movesets by type (but not type of moves and power/accuracy/PP) and TMs/move tutor/items. everything else stays as it is. this way you can have a fresh but familiar experience without being surprised by bullshit

and then i have another with random everything but move type/pokemon evolutions and no legendaries/game breaking moves-abilities. pure chaos.

decided to continue the Blazeblack 2 nuzlocke

team in it's post Elesa status, battered, bruised but no miraculously no deaths. Her behavior being highly predictable helped a lot.

I am wondering which of the 2 bugs I should box in favor of Dewott (starter), Taft was a replacement for him during this gym but he's just to good to ever box again (to bad about him having his HA)
>>
>>33025176
As a person doing Storm Silver right now. The Gym Leaders and Boss battles are of course made harder. I lost my Geodude to Falkner's Solarbeaming Swablu for example. And almost lost Vaporeon just now to a Team Rocket Admin. You need to stay alert all the time.

Beedrill has Sludge Bomb and critted Staravia, R.I.P that hurts alot.
And it also has cut which is not a grass type move and killed Vaporeon, so, so stupid. I thought the Vanilla version didn't mess with moves.

Daily update!

So, "NoHips" the Hypno died to a Weezing Explosion in the Ruined Mansion on Cinnibar Island. She pulled me through so many battles. A friend recommended I switch in a Voltorb that I had in the bank, saying he could be useful for the Elite 4.

WhirlGirl took Blaine out by herself with Rain Dance + Surf.

The most exciting thing to happen recently was BIGGLYDICC the Wigglytuff knocked Articuno out with a single punch while being level 43.

I was just about to grind up Voltorb a bit when Bill was all, "Wanna go fuck around in some tropical island to the south?" So we're taking a brief vacation, tag-teamin' the local bitches.

So as is seen between the previous and current layouts. I beat Whitney, however Silver quickly took out Croagunk after I finished training it and on my way to Goldenrod Budew & Swinub also bit the dust.
I was so sure of it that I was going to lose the locke at Whitney when I only had Quilava left as an actual usefull pokemon but then I managed to catch these three and trained them up, Nidoqueen & Spiritomb are really putting in work. I just hope they can keep it up for a while longer till I get some more good encounters for back up.

Okay, I'm managing to get along from the third gym all the way to Olivine City without losing team members.
Not too many close calls except for one during the route before Olivine and of course Morty gave me a heart attack with Gengar's Shadow Ball/Thunderbolt. Came down to luck if shadow sneak killed or not, was really close.

Managed to catch a few new Pokemon thanks to surf opening up some old areas for encounters. Never used Quagsire but water/ground seems like a good type in Johto so I put her in.

>>33029006
I just ignore the roaming beasts, since for me legendaries can't be used.
>>
Double Battles can be such killers in Nuzlockes. So falls my seventh team member, Glorfindel, to the Fairy Tale Girl/Hex Maniac combo of Gardevoir and Alakazam. It's not a devastating loss to the functionality of things, thankfully, as I have plenty of good backup Water types, but I loved the idea of taking an Octillery to the Elite 4, and his legacy shall be missed.

With a Super Rod in tow, though, I finally grabbed my Parfum Palace encounter in The Mouth of Sauron, shortened to "The Mouth," the Gyarados. A couple of other fun catches, and it was off to face Olympia. One of my newest teammates, Boromir the Magnezone, ended the gym fight with 3 Thunderbolts, and now it's time to prepare for Flare.

Some concerns. The first is that my team is very unbalanced. 2 Poison types and 2 Electric types means that I may be well prepared for Fairies and enemy Gyarados, but that a good Ground type fucks up almost my entire team. Should I bump into a Mamoswine, 5/6th of my team is thus rendered useless. Once Team Flare is taken care of, I do hope to get my hands on a non-Truant Durant, and if I replace Morwen the Heliolisk with it, that'll solve a lot of my problems. If my Route 18 encounter is not a Durant, or is one but with Truant, then I'm not sure what I'll do.

This team should do fine for our friendly neighborhood evil team, though. I'm gonna grind everyone up to 50, then head off into the lion's den.

Training complete, time to see if Team Flare's all they're cracked up to be.

I had one die to Totem Gumshoos because it was in a bad spot, but it was good up until then, and every other one I have used has been fantastic. Little less so in Platinum though, that game is a bit unkind to Magnezone due to lots of Ground moves everywhere.

So I decided to start a run on Ruby. I ran Emerald a few years ago and ran Alpha Sapphire a few times, so Ruby seemed like the best fit. I picked Treecko because I'm not fond of everyone else, though Wattson is going to laugh at me. Also the nature isn't too bad.

My ruleset will be fairly generic three strikes for dupes clause, but that's about it. Anything else goes.

Good luck! Bulbasaur's always a safe option for Kanto.

I've cleared out all the Route 104 trainers pre-Petalburg Woods. I count the starter as Littleroot, so Route 101 had Wurmple (now I know she's prospective Dustox, might be nice early), 103 gave me a Bold Poochyena who is piss weak so far, 102 gave me Zigzagoon for mad swag (the second encounter, frustratingly, was Ralts), and 104 gave me Wingull after the first Zig dupe. No deaths or anything. Might need to grind even more soon. Trainer levels are weird in Hoenn.

question about "areas" and what is widely accepted

are caves, etc one area and only allow one catch in the entire location or is each floor with a different set of pokemon a different area
>>
>>33032065

Usually caves and such are one area. Pinwheel Forest in BW1 is sometimes two because both outer and inner have widly different encounters. Route 1 in Sun and Moon is another exception, as the Trainer's School and the Outskirts have different encounters, and you need all you can get early on.

For everything else, generally it's one per cave/route/town. I would certainly count Mt Moon as one area, for instance.

What ever the Pokemon's "Met At" or "Encountered" says is what I go by. So even if you are not sure, I would catch the Pokemon to see if you already had that encounter. If so, then just release it.

A lot of people don't know this but the guy that sells you the Magikarp before Mt. Moon actually says "Met at Route 4", since the PokeCenter is part of Route 4 on the othe side of the cave.
>>
>>33032143
route 4 is both before and after mt. moon.

it goes like pewter - route 3 (trainers and a single patch of grass with the EEK DID U TOUCH ME girl) - route 4 - mt moon - route 4 - cerulean

Roxanne went down pretty easily to Treecko, of course. This is the team now. Taillow on Route 116 seems redundant with Wingull, but it has an Adamant nature and hits like a train. Not sure I'll keep both mons on my team long term though, but Brawly is coming up very soon due to Hoenn's strange pacing so having them and Dustox gives me some insurance at least.

I also managed to get Slakoth in Petalburg Woods, but I'm not using it because it's utter ass early on from experience - might be one for the Exp Share if I need back ups. I did also get the obligatory Whismur in the cave, and it nearly took all my balls to catch and kept critting my Dustox. God damn. Wuntch is giving me loads of swag.
>>
>>33032143
About Route 4 part - the same goes for starter Pokemon in Hoenn, game says it is met at Route 101, so technically one cannot catch there another Pokemon but a lot of people treat it as Littleroot encounter.

After trouncing Roxanne and dealing with WROOOAR PEEKO, I decided to just grind some more so I could defeat Brawly instantly, as between Wingull, Taillow, and Dustox, I figured I would be fine. And I was. Brawly was super easy. Dustox then became my Flash slave in order to get to Steven, and I caught a Lax Thick Fat Makuhita along the way. I don't see Dustox doing much else from this point on, so she's been boxed. After yet more grinding, I moved on and took to the seas some more and arrived in Slateport.

Also I have a Tentacool and Magikarp in the PC as well. I hope Route 110 gives me an Electric type, even if it's Plusle - Electric in Hoenn is a godsend. Wattson is a very scary prospect, even with Makuhita - lowered Special Defense is really bad. The Hariyama line is one of those lines that always dies on me as well.

After losing Makuhita before Wattson's gym, Amy is back on the team. Wattson was a complete haxlord by the way, Voltorb's Self-Destruct got a crit on Rosa, making Intimidate not helpful. Magneton ended up getting a crit Shock Wave almost immediately after on Gina, who was ground up just for this gym. What proceeded then was a terrible stall war with me burning almost all my items and burning both of Wattson's potions. But hey, at least I didn't lose my starter. Dustox is staying on the team for now - she's earnt it.

I have a Plusle and Roselia in the box, but I want to see what the next few areas grant me. Either a good natured Numel or Torkoal would be nice, and Machop too as I've enabled trade evos at level 37 with the randomiser.

I honestly expected to wipe. ORAS makes Wattson a joke, and that's partially the lack of Self-Destruct, but more just because you get TMs that can actually hurt the magnets.
>>
>>33029324
Just finished catching in the Safari Zone. I've got almost one box full with back up now, and an empty spot on the team. Jasmine is coming up and since it's Storm Silver she'll have 6 pokemon. I'm not sure what in my box would be smart to add for her and Team Rocket/Later Gyms.

Quagsire got of course critted by Chuck's Focus Punch because he spammed hypnosis and it hit everytime, which really sucks because Quagsire could've done a great job against Jasmine.

For now I'll have to grind the team up for safety, if anyone knows a good box Pokemon for me to add please tell.

Never realised people found Wattson a problem in vanilla, but now that I think about it the only ground & fire types you can pick up beforehand are the starters & Geodude (that only appear in a single location). This is what you get for picking the lizard, I suppose
>>
>>33033762
Honestly your team already has fire/electric/water/ground which should deal with all possible steel types. May be worth chucking in Machoke I suppose. Pretty sure she has at least one of Metang or Bronzong & it's a bastard, but Spiritomb should be able to handle either -
Magneton could be a shout too though
>>
>>33033778

Yeah. It's like picking Tepig in BW2. It's easily possible to miss every Water or Grass type minus Ducklett before Clay, and Ducklett is weak to Excadrill's Rock Slide. I once wiped because this happened to me.

Hoenn loads you up with Water and Flying types like almost no other region. Didn't help me that I got crit twice either.

Then, you can capture Machop, Numel, and Torkoal almost immediately after Wattson.
>>
>>33033866
It's strange because pre-Wattson, Mauville gives you access to two new routes, another town AND an alternative entrance to a cave. Why no Machop on Route 117? Why no fishable Barboach on Route 118's sandy stream? (okay you only have the Old Rod then fine but still) Why no extra floor in Rusturf or patch of grass by blackglasses with Geodude? You get all of these extra locations & no reason to go to them other than trainer battles & a couple of unremarkable items
>>
>>33033778
All the starters stand well against Wattson
Whoever loses to Wattson in vanilla RSE absolutely sucks
>>
>>33034405

What exactly does Grovyle do? Rock Smash? Sure it resists Electric, but Thunder Wave is still crippling, as is Supersonic, or Voltorb's Self-Destruct (which cripples nearly everything else too), or flat damage Sonic Boom.

JESUS FUCKIN' CHRIST, I knew that Victory Road was gonna be hard but it literally took a culmination of every healing item I've obtained over the course of the game to complete it, as well as escape roping out and running back to the Pokemon Center twice. It was pretty awful, but now I made it.

Also... One of my buddies informed me at the last minute here, that Dodrio can use Fly. The things you learn, playing Pokemon you've never used before.

I need to grind a bit, but I'm not sure to what level. I'm gonna get everyone to 55 at least, before heading in to the Elite 4. I also gotta come up with some sort of plan, deciding on which mons are gonna take care of which Elite 4 members. Now that I'm looking at the lineup, it looks like I'm gonna have to play this really carefully.

Every time. It's like her levels needed to be raised. Even in ORAS, the same thing happens as there's more experience. She's only two levels above Norman.
>>
>>33039798
Norman needs to drop a few IMO. The desert doesn't give you too many levels, so you'd be ready for Norman after it, and then you'd just naturally level up to where you need to be for Winona.

Flannery and dad both had close calls, but no losses. Pelipper is surprisingly great.

After clearing the water routes nearby, New Mauville, and getting the Ice Beam TM from the Abandoned Ship, I had to dodge most of the trainers from Route 119 onwards in order to not be overlevelled for Winona, and even then I was at level 34. Unfortunately, I did lose Amy the Dustox on the way up to Fortree. Fucking Counter on Breloom killed her. Luckily, I got Absol on Route 120 (mild nature isn't too bad in this generation either), who took and still has the Exp Share in order to catch up while slowing the growth of everyone else. It's like I can't have a full team - apart from a shitty natured Voltorb, almost all my captures are either shit, redundant, or weak to Ice which means they'll have no long term utility. I'm honestly hoping for Meditite at the tower's summit. Glacia looks like a problem!

It's also this part of the game where I start to run out of non-Water type captures. Maybe I can get myself a Spheal in Shoal Cave. The Game Corner at least could be a source of another Ice Beam TM.

Winona was piss easy with Shock Wave and Ice Beam on Pelipper alongside Overheat Camerupt. I even froze Altaria and she only has Hyper Potions and not Full Restores.

>>33044529
Rayze my dude..... i know you had some issues with gen VI, but really, the games are quite easy. You can get screwed by RNG during teambuilding which could make it pretty challenging, sure, but most of the time a single broken encounter is more than enough to cruise the entire game.

Platinum is the hardest game to nuzlocke assuming all restrictions. No doubts. Can't even fathom what made you put HGSS in the highest tier, were you playing sacred gold and storm silver perchance?
>>
>>33044600
I am basing this off of both my personal experiences, and from other Nuzlockes I've watched. I've never seen an X and Y locke that wasn't chaotic and filled with death, unless the person was abusing the exp share or Amie. I can accept that I seem to be in the minority among people here, but I personally breezed through Platinum on my first attempt.

HG/SS have, in my humble opinion, the hardest gyms in the series. Every one of them has some sort of super strong ace that can right fuck your whole team. The other justifications I make for HG/SS are the length and the Elite 4 rematches, which are mandatory if you plan to end at Red.
>>
>>33044656
HGSS is fairly easy, desu.
The only hard aces are Scyther, Miltank, and Kingdra. Maaaybe Chuck's a little annoying because of hax. Also, it's unfair to the other games to say that HGSS ends at Red. End it at the Champion (Lance) like every other game.
>>
>>33044656
>Every one of them has some sort of super strong ace that can right fuck your whole team
That's like every gym ever
Typing (and the limited number of pokemon in gen2) alone makes HGSS gyms a joke - besides Clair the rest is too pitiful to be a problem, i mean, come the fuck on, flying gym with a pidgey and a pidgeotto? a gym leader with a fucking kakuna? steel could be a problem, but its just a bunch of magnemites and stee "spit on me and i'm dead" lix. ice gym lol. you get the point

being long does make it harder to finish, but because its boring, not because its difficult
>>
>>33044716
You also forget the Kimono Girls, which I think is the most wiped on moment I've seen in any Lockes.

As for your second point, which Lance would you end it at? First time Lance or rematch Lance? If we're ending it at first time Lance, I'd move it down one tier, maybe two.
>>
>>33044745
First time Lance, duh. At least point out in your image that you're ending at Red.

Also, at that point in the game you should have a balanced-enough team that you shouldn't get wiped by them at all. The hardest part about them is the surprise factor, which granted, can be tough sometimes but a lot of games have stuff like that.
