Not really. Today's episode made it clear they were setting up Hime as a nearly impossible obstacle to overcome, and unlike the result of the Kalos league, this is something that's actually going to matter to the plot in the future. The issue is that they made Lily and her entire character, buildup and storyline a casualty to accomplish this, and people aren't very happy about that choice.

It's going to continue. It's just that there's nowhere they can really go with Lily. Her entire character was focused around overcoming the odds she was told she'd never be able to overcome so she could join the ranks of her friend that has always supported her, and the conclusion to that ended up being "nope, she lost, the people that told her she had no chance were right and those that believed in her were wrong", something people aren't super happy about.

At least they actually showed Lily getting frustrated this episode at losing. At knowing she was nowhere near close to Hime. And they also showed Yuzu comforting her and encouraging her and telling her it's not over yet and that she can still find a new dream and she'll be there to support her as she has always done. It's not perfect, but at least it's something. It was a shit conclusion, but at least it was a conclusion.

Rola though? Still the fucking same. Got BTFO by Yume for the umpteenth time which is the reason she started to lose it in first place except this time it's fine with her just because. And then what? That's something I liked about OG. Even with Starlight Queen and Aikatsu 8 and even Top Aidoru you were given the impression that the world was not limited to just those, there was more for everyone else out there and not becoming any of those didn't signify the end of the world. All idols found their niche or an specialization. Ran and Hikani were models for example, Rin was dancing, Juri was acting, etc. The world was vast and you could do something even if you didn't win those competitions.

On Stars it is become S4 or nothing and even then you can tell there's clear favoritism for the Song Class on Yotsuboshi and even outside it.

It's very easy to tell that Stars staff just thought up things they would be "cool" and ran with them without giving them any proper planning. Just look at the M4 and the male section of the school that is totally there but we've never ever seen. They've even said on interviews that the M4 was something they thought at the last minute and decided to add it because they thought it was cool and that's it.

I hope S2 is actually written decently but after seeing this mess I don't have any hopes at all.

So this was a pretty big episode, that if we aren't being rused, foreshadowed a lot of future developments.

AshPikachu was teased heavily this episode with Pikachu wearing Ashs hat, the Electric Z activating on its own when Ash and Pikachu start synchronizing, and Maname realizing that there's something incredible about Ash and Pikachus power.

We also got a very small tease of game Lillie this episode, admiring Ashs ability that even though he got stronger he's already looking towards a new goal in defeating Tapu Koko.

Tapu Koko's interest in Ash is still really exciting, it's obvious it's interested in Ash and Pikachu because of their power, but with it aware of how the Z-Crystal is behaving it has to know something is up with Ash and Pikachu, likely the formation of the AshPikachunium.
