>gather a team of pokemon weak to steel to see if I can get a Mega-cario or Mega-gross

>Has Mega-Gross and Porygon-Z, literally perfect allies for multis
>he trashes me since my team had no actual way of beating him and Mega-Gross can do stuff like outspeed my own speed-invested Porygon-Z and one-shot it with a non-STAB 75 BP Fighting move because Gamefreak doesn't understand game balance.

Woops. In hindsight, what the hell was I expecting?

Still it means I have to get pokemon that can both attract those top-tier picks, and then beat them without running move-sets that will scare those picks off. Ugh.
>>
Followed some advice last thread.

This bitch fucked me right in the ass @46 Super Double.

I think my mistake was choosing to Sky Drop WhimsicotT instead or A-Marowak.

Pretty fucked up battle.

So uh, it was mentioned that I didn't have a good doubles team sync, and I believe it.

I've narrowed myself down to my seven choices here:

Ash-Grninja- Lum berry (because oddly enough the focus sash wasn't really all that helpful.)
Water Suriken
Ice Beam
Extrasensory
Dark Pulse

Marowak- Thick club - Lightning Rod
Protect
Shadow Bone
Flare Blitz
Bonemerang

Magnezone- Light Clay - Magnet Pull
Light Screen
Reflect
Thunderbolt
Flash Cannon

Tapu Bulu- Either life orb or assault vest, i'm not sure which works better here
Rock Slide
Horn Leech
Megahorn
Brick Break

Ribombee-Leftovers - Shield Dust
Pollen Puff
Quiver Dance
Aromatherapy
Dazzling Gleam

Rhyperior-Weakness Policy - Solid Rock
Drill Run
Rock Slide
Hammer Arm
Protect

Lucario-Lucarionite-Inner Focus
Close Combat
Flash Cannon
Extreme Speed
Detect

Any ideas/suggestions? If I should probably get a new pokemon, I can... eventually anyway. I'm not giving up Magnezone as he's just too good. Ribombee is a close second.
>>
Does anyone know, can you get the stamp for Multis with a human partner, or does it have to be an AI partner?
>>
>>31388512
Ash ninja? Some anons seem to have great luck with Z hydro pump for a guaranteed kill/instant battle bond. Just throwing out that idea. I imagine that'd work well with mega lucario
>>
>>31388592
what would be the point if you couldn't get the stamp duoing with a human?

>>31388678
I typically keep water shuriken on simply because it's got priority and after bond it's guaranteed to hit at least three times. It even boosts the power of the move to 20 instead of 15.

I'll give you the most popular two:
Brave, 252 attack, the rest split between sp def and HP. Holding a lum berry or weakness policy, usually lum.
Shadow sneak, iron head (or swords dance), king's shield, sacred sword
The second:
Quiet, 252 sp attack, the rest in HP and sp def holding a weakness policy
Shadow sneak, shadow ball, flash cannon, king's shield

I managed to make it to 30 battles in Super Singles with:

Xurkitree @ Electrium Z
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Hasty Nature
Tail Glow
Grass Knot
Thunderbolt
Volt Switch

Tapu Lele @ Assault Vest
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 SpD
Timid Nature
Nature's Madness
Psychic
Energy Ball
Moonblast

Celesteela @ Figy Berry
252 HP / 242 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
Leech Seed
Seed Bomb
Heavy Slam
Earthquake

I made it all the way to Colress, whose Earthquake-carrying Metagross caught me off guard.

You might want to use shadow sneak on Mimi for picking up trash, the AI sometimes throw shit at you by making pokemons survive with 1-5% HP even without focus sash
>>
>>31388250

Pretty sure Life Orb Shadow Claw+Sneak will KO the Metagross (don't boost), and then Play Rough should dent the digital duck something fierce. If Metagross misses his first move you're sweeping.
>>
>>31390829
Just a meme. Just like Focus Sash. Just go LO or Lum. Just that.
>>
>>31390829
It's a meme. For tree I believe in Life Orb adamant, the extra damage lets you forgo the first turn boost when you need guaranteed damage on turn 1. Also Life Orb applies every single turn, sash doesn't. You get more mileage and sweep opportunities, especially when you set up.

Mimikyu
Adamant, 252 attack, 252 speed
Lum Berry
swords dance
leech life
play rough
shadow sneak

you can sweep up to the high 50s with just this guy as your lead. the game loves to give you shitty gimmicks that spam status or evasion which lets you crank 2-3 SD's into an autopilot leech life sweep

i have mega salamence and a random third (usually celesteela or ashninja)

battle tree is really solved already, i have like 700-something BP and nothing left to put it toward

atm i get pretty good results in super singles with being super offensive:

dragonite @lum berry
multiscale, adamant
earthquake
outrage
fire punch
dragon dance

porygon-z @normalium-z
adaptibility, timid
thunderbolt
ice beam
tri-attack
conversion 1

mimikyu @life-orb
disguise, jolly
play rough
shadow claw
shadow sneak
swords dance

dragonite or porygon can usually sweep the entire enemy team until 30. initially i ran shadow ball on porygon but i figured that in battle tree electric is far superior and the extra damage from thunderbolt is quite convenient. allthough boltbeam + shadow ball is perfect coverage, with adaptability thunderbolt actually does more damage than shadow ball to magnezone, so i switched to tri attack which gives the additional option to not use z-conversion but blast any thread with adaptability z-tri-attack. mimikyu is just to have a guaranteed option for any bad luck situation.
sometimes i used toxapex instead which works really good with dragonite
>>
Got up to 46 in Super Doubles with this team:

Golisopod @A-vest (Emergency Escape)
Adamant Nature 248 Atk / 252 Hp / 8 SpD
First Impression
Liquidation
Poison Jab
Aqua Jet

A-Ninetale @Icium-Z (Snow Warning)
Timid Nature 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Hp
Aurora Veil
Freeze-Dry
Encore
Blizzard

Bewear @Choice Band (Fluffy)
Adamant Nature 248 Atk / 252 Def / 8 Hp
Superpower
Ice Punch
Thunder Punch
Return

Garchomp @Mega (Rough Skin)
Jolly Nature 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Hp
Outrage
Earthquake
Iron Head
Rockslide

So the strategy was pretty simple: Golisopod KOs any Psychic or Dark types on the first turn with priority, while Ninetales does a Veil or Z-Veil if I know the opponent is going to set up with some speed boosts or has a naturally faster lead.
During weather wars, if the opponent doesn't have a obvious Steel/Poison/Fire move ready, A-Tales with either Freeze-Dry the Rain Dancer or Z-Blizzard the Sandstormer.

Wondering whether I should go back to Scarf Chomp, or is Mega Chomp good enough for the 40+ area? Any suggestions on how to make this team better?

>>
>Tfw you masterfully beat kick Colress' ass with toxapex, salazzle and garchomp, but forget to save the video.
>>
>>31395595
now that's just not true. celesteela's base Atk is 101 and its base SpA is 107. it may not be 125+ like a lot of sweepers, but it's still nothing to sneeze at. combined with how hard the thing is to kill (especially with the ass vest boosting its effective base SpD over 150 alongside its base def of 103 and 95 base HP), it becomes a significant threat because it just keeps hitting turn after turn with good coverage and the ability to do effective damage either physically or specially. and then on top of that, you add the beast boost, and if it gets one kill, it's SpA is already greater than mega salamence's Atk.

but, my other celesteela uses the leech seed strategy minus toxic as well because i wanted to be able to use both. i just find that my ass vest one is more useful in many situations.

So I was messing around doing some data mining and I discovered a weird glitch.
So it turns out Play Rough's accuracy, advertised as 90%, is actually 0%. Be forewarned that if you use this move, you will always miss
Maybe they'll fix it in a patch or something.
>>
>have Talonflame and Garchomp Leads
>keep running into Fire types because I have Natural Gift Grass on Smogonbird and Grass Knot on Tapu Koko
>they get absolutely railed by Garchomp

I'm convinced at this point you can use filler moves to control enemy counterpicks, and that it would be possible to make a team specifically designed around baiting in counterpicks which you can instead shut down super hard.

In fact i'm pretty sure one of the reasons Mega-Mence does well is because the game doesn't understand Aerilate, if it knew that Return or Double-Edge are actually flying type you'd run into more Electric mons.

Does anyone know what triggers the game to go "I can't think up a proper counter for this, spam legendaries at them." or is it just something that happens when you last longer than the game thinks you should have with one team?
>>
>>31396288
>not having a taunter or no guard mon on hand

But seriously that shit is obnoxious
>>
>>31396104

Play Rough is a trap.

I keep seeing it on Mimikyu, but the only reason to run it is coverage against Dark types - except Leech Life provides that with full accuracy and life steal at the cost of slightly less damage. Dark moves only hit you neutrally.

Most of the time with Mimikyu you just want to boost up and spam Ghost Moves, after all barely anything resists them and you'll two-shot most things provided you're not running Lum Berry.

So bulky steel types are an issue then, except Play Rough is nfe against them anyway. Other pokemon that are an issue for Mimikyu are bulky water and grass types who can just tank your Shadow Sneaks/Shadow Claws...except you have Wood Hammer which wrecks them hard.

The only problem then is normal types, but they can't hit you with STAB either so you can just boost again and Leech Life for more steal, or just use Wood Hammer.

It may have STAB, but its damage is actually low, the inaccuracy sucks and it doesn't actually cover anything exclusively. Instead you can drop it and use other more accurate moves that hit harder or have extra effects like health recovery.

Even Facade is better than Play Rough, unless you're doing something memetastic like Weakness Policy + Hone Claws.
>>
>>31396242

I'm pretty sure the Tree just throws out Rotoms in every situation because it knows they're bullshit.

They tank everything, outspeed everything and hit absurdly hard. Literally Garchomp-tiers of balance from the folks at Gamefreak.

Actuall only 2 rotoms outspeed everything potentially...scarfed wash and scarfed fan to be exact at 226 speed. Thankfully it's only those 2 because I got meme'd by a scarfed discharge wash one and it wasn't pleasant.

Just defeated multis with my brothers 3ds so that's the last stamp for my trainers passport. Did it with my doubles team (tapu koko, m salamance, primarina & m lycanrock)
Was scared for a second when reds lapras avoided my salamence with his brightpower and ice beamed it. But his next one was blastoise which tapu easily defeats and blues rhyperior went down with an energy ball by primarina.
Thx for the help & tips everyone.
Now what to do...

I'd switch something out on that megamence for Dragon Dance. It's an egg move, making it a fucking cunt to get, but it's well worth it.

Would also allow you to make it adamant instead and have him work as a sweeper. He doesn't really need the coverage as after a dragon dance he one shots most things with a full powered (and now STAB) return or Double edge anyway.

Turn 1 is usually Protect+Bulldoze; those EVs let Raichu outspeed every -1 Pokemon in the Tree, and give it a little bit of extra HP that actually allows it to survive some non-STAB SE moves. Against fast ground-immune Pokemon that still threaten to OHKO Raichu (Aerodactyl) I Protect with Raichu and have Milotic get a free hit on it, then switch to Kartana. It can almost always take the hit in these situations, and it has a Focus Sash anyway. Milotic can also typically 2HKO the fast threat while easily tanking neutral hits so it works out. If Icy Wind was available for Milotic this would be so much easier.

Turn 2 typically has at least one thing getting nuked into the ground, with Milotic picking up the KO if they somehow survived Stoked Sparksurfer, or chipping down the other Pokemon for Raichu to KO next turn. After that it's fairly easy to spam attacks and clean up with Kartana/Talonflame if either of my leads fall.

Talonflame is there as a secondary speed booster in case Raichu/Kartana need it and Milotic is out but its primary use is to priority Brave Bird at the end of a match (Flynium Z over Life Orb is an option if you don't feel like using Raichu). My battle video with Blue is dead now but it was very useful in taking out his mega Alakazam. It also covers any grass types that threaten Milotic.

This team got to 71 before I lost because I double targeted into a Protect.

I used a Super Singles team I sponged from here (A-Ninetales, MegaDos, and Aegislash) plus Porygon-Z (who actually ended up doing jack-shit in this battle) and I still only won by the skin of my teeth. But I'm just glad to finally have at least one stamp from the Tree.

I recommend Water STAB stronger than Shuriken for Greninja. Before it IKUZE's, shuriken isn't reliable.

Run Protect over Detect. Unless you like the animation more, theres no reason to use a move with less PP over the same move with more.
>>
>>31402112
I got detect instead of protect because imprison is a thing... I mean I've only fought one person with it so far, but I'm not making that mistake again.

Also I keep shuriken because I no longer have any clue what's faster than me anymore, because sometimes things just HAPPEN without much explanation. I mean, I typically don't use it to get the first knock out, but once I've got it, I've got it. Oh, that and for dealing with mimikyu and substitute.

Yeah you'll get much more mileage out of special koko over physical koko most of the time but don't let that stop you from trying it if you want.

Physical:
Wild charge
Brave Bird
U-turn
Sky drop?
Acrobatics??
...Steel wing????

Special:
Thunderbolt

Dazzling Gleam
Grass Knot
U-turn
Volt Switch
Hidden power Ice If applicable

Super Doubles. trying for a team that can take a hit (or 3) without fully losing the ability to OHKO opponents. Building around Tapu Bulu so Earthquake is not used.

Tapu Bulu
Adamant
Choice Band
-Wood Hammer
-Horn Leech (most used)
-Megahorn (would replace with Rock slide, but pretending this will discourage AI from using Grass types)
-Superpower (2nd most used)

Tapu Bulu ensures that Ground Moves don't have any real effect on my team. Bulu also OHKOs pretty much anything it touches without getting low. The regen ain't shabby either.

Tyanitar (because I'm too much of a coward to use Gigalith)
Jolly
Choice Scarf
Sand Stream
-Ice Punch (can be replaced)
-Rock Slide(most used)
-Crunch
-Superpower (2nd most used)
Honestly, I picked Tyranitar for the 50% bonus SpD for my team. I didn't quite realize until typing this that no other members of my team would get it. Even so, great stats and weather to prevent Bulu from healing my opponents has been worth it.

Metagross
Jolly
Mega Stone
Clear Body
-Bullet Punch (pick off low hp targets)
-Brick Break (to land hits without a gamble, sorta filler)
-Meteor Mash
-Rock Slide (AOE damage)
Pretty much switches in to tank the hits that would OHKO bulu.

Garchomp
Adamant (Jolly may be preferred)
Life Orb
Sand Veil
-Iron Head
-Rock Slide (most used)
-Poison Jab
-Outrage
Bulky enough to take a hit and sweep up too, if needed.

Works well enough so far, I kind of want to use a Doubles set with Tapu Bulu, Alola Muk, Mudscale, and filler but the lack of Speed and upfront offensive power makes me shy away.
>>
thought about running this doubles set:
metagross @ weakness policy
bullet punch
agility/earthquake
zen headbutt
meteor mash

pokemon #2 (preferably faster than metagross but special attacker)
brutal swing
--
--
--

Basically the fast mon goes 1st with brutal swing, hits my metagross, activating weakness policy. use agility and if none of them die, sweep. other two mons are filler but i was thinking chandelure/salamence

I use PKSM and already used the GTS/WT to get the stuff legal I wanted, except a No Guard Midnight Lycanwolf that I'd probably use for Doubles.

I haven't updated to 1.1 because I don't want to cause any conflicts, so my replays likely wouldn't work for you.

As far as battles go, there is a fair amount of switching when things can OHKO Ttar or Bulu, the AI is pretty predictable about always going for the OHKO.

As far as STAB ground attacks go, I'll gladly take the damage and then heal back up. The cost is for the opponent is the loss of a Pokemon.

Every time I battle tree, I rage HARD against the AI, even if I end up winning the battle. Whether it be for low accuracy moves hitting all the time, random crits, getting random buffs and debuffs, accuracy/evasion spamming or just spamming status effects. I don't remember showdown feeling this painful. And then there's the walls without any real attacking moves, so it's just me hoping for a critical over and over.

Is the VGC this annoying? Is there something I'm doing wrong to bring about all of this annoyance tactics? Oh! And also, don't forget them all holding berries that make THE SPECIFIC SUPER EFFECTIVE TYPE MOVE do reduced damage. Because they know exactly what pokemon you've got and can just bring out those specific ones that just make things take longer for no reason. They don't damage you, they just... bother you.

I don't know if I'm being broken by this or not, but it feels bad.

I mean granted, the accuracy/evasion clause is there for a reason, but every other thing just feels... off.
>>
Currently on battle 33 of Super Multis
Team is:
-Mega Scizor
Bullet Punch
Roost
Pursuit (I think I should change this for something else, barely ever use it, any recommendations?)
U-Turn

-Milotic @Leftovers
Scald
Recover
Ice Beam
Haze
I thought about replacing this one for a while, but it's amazingly good at taking hits and dealing efficient damage

Partner is Wally with Scarfed Garchomp and Mega Gallade, fucker mostly spams Outrage and Close Combat, but he still hits like a fucking truck and kills most things

Wish me luck, I'm so close i can taste victory
