On special attackers, most people don't run 31 attack IVs because if your opponent uses Swagger on you, thats going to cause more damage to yourself while having no benefit to any of your moves otherwise. No, HANS doesn't require CFW.
A couple things to check: 1) Are you using the correct file for your game? 2) Did you rename the file to have the .code extension? 3) Are you able to see file extensions on your PC to be completely sure that you changed the file extension to .code? 4) Is the .code file in a folder named HANS, and is that folder on the root of your SD card?
Beyond that, I don't know what your issue could be. You could also try power cycling without launching Soundhax to give your 3DS a fresh start in the homebrew channel

Can't edit pokemon location(while you can make a pokemon, it's pre made) can't edit sid or tid of a pokemon. You can't give yourself the max amount of items yet but you can make any item. Can't make qr codes. There might be ev edit problems from what I heard but I'm not sure. Can't edit pp of moves. Online wise your pokemon should be considered legal since there's no way of telling if a pokemon ivs were edited. Probably missed a few difference but pksm is basically pkhex lite although it's good when you need to change something and are too lazy to insert your sd inside your computer or don't have one.

You can only clone one pokemon at a time but once you have a full box, you can swap the box of pokemon to the bank box then save the bank.bin, swap the box again but this time don't save the bank bin and now you have 30 more clones and can repeat this as many times as you want. Plus pksm MN allows you to use 1000 bank boxes but will slow down when you try to save the bank.bin but that make sense. I'm not so sure about any must have .cia, could try searching gbatemp.

CTR transfer method is actually quite fast. Should take you less than one hour. The old method was way longer since we had to make several NAND backups and restores.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do you back up a save file? I'm sick of the Tree's bullshit, so I'm just going to cheat.

If you're using pkhex just allow it to create backups when it asks you to when you first open it. The backups will be in the "bak" folder.

Alternatively you can just take the main file from jksm and copy paste it somewhere on your computer.

Have you used jksm?
It dumps your save file into a folder so that you can edit it with PKHeX, which I would advise backing it up before you do so.

The unhacked N3DS will have to patch the game using HANS, if the randomizer allows outputting to a patch. You will need to install homebrew on the N3DS, however

The SD has some files on it that confuse the DS while it's starting up, since they're from a newer firmware.
If you start it up and then put the SD card after reaching the home menu, you'll be fine.

When 11.3 comes out, it'll probably block Soundhax.
If you want to keep using save hacks in the future, you'll probably want to spend a little time getting a more robust hack that won't be patched out in the future.
Now's an ideal time actually, since 11.2 consoles can get a9lh, an unpatchable and more total hack.

Having a9lh will mean that you're always able to use homebrew and inject pokemon.
You'll also be able to pirate, or stream video from a N3DS, if that's your deal.

If you only want to inject a few pokemon now and have no interest in the future, then you don't need to bother with anything more than Soundhax.
If you're going to be using this a lot, you should probably follow the guide at 3ds.guide to get a9lh.

Download Steel Divers: Sub Wars or PixelPaint from the eShop (they're both free) and use the homebrew channel to install steelhax or painthax. Those will be your "secondary entrypoints" in the event Soindhax gets patched

Being on 2.1 is probably the most dangerous bit. Updating will brick a N3DS, sleep mode will brick a N3DS, formatting will brick a 2DS.
Fortunately you should only be on 2.1 firmware for about 5 minutes.

After you install a9lh, you've only got housekeeping left to do and it's pretty much impossible to brick even if you try.

You can go into system settings while on 2.1 firmware.
There's no reason to and the guide never tells you to. I'm just saying that you really should do things carefully while on 2.1 firmware, and if you have any uncertainties then it's better to turn the console off and ask rather than blundering into something.

Once you finish the guide, it's safe to update whenever.
It's only for those 5 minutes while you're on 2.1 that you have to worry about updates/sleep mode.
